"I dunno, you want an ice cream or something?" asked Zelphar. He was more than willing to buy, he had two hundred pounds set aside from his job at Zonko's, but the rest of it was going straight into savings, he would have to get his own place less than two years from now. He was certain that he would be welcome at the Cabrini home for a while, but he did not want to be too much of a burden.

Azzurra shrugged, she wasn't particularly hungry, but ice cream was always nice. "Sure, maybe a small or something," she replied. Azzurra hadn't brought any money, so she wouldn't want to be too big of a burden on Zelphar. She knew that he didn't have much.

"All right then," said Zelphar, glad that she had agreed to some form of food, she looked a bit thin for her, she could do with an ice cream. He led the way to the stand in the middle of the food court, it was certainly a change going to a muggle ice cream place, he had grown accustomed to the odd varieties at Fortiscue's, but this place had perfectly normal things like toffee, chocolate, strawberry, and orange sherbet.

Azzurra glanced over the menu slowly, wondering what to get. "Hmm, I'll have a small vanilla with sprinkles," she said to the person working there. Sugar sounded good at the moment, Azzurra was glad that Zelphar had come up with the idea.

"The biggest size you've got of chocolate," Zelphar ordered, pulling his billfold from his pocket. He paid for the ice cream, and the employee handed the cones over the top of the counter. He grabbed his, it was a boatload of ice cream, but he was hungry, and they never got sweets at Grant's. Well, they got some at Christmas, but Zelphar had not been there for the winter holiday since he was ten years old.

Azzurra took her cone, glad she had gotten a small. It was actually a lot of ice cream for a small and Zelphar's was huge. "Wow, that's huge," Azzurra commented, raising her eyebrows slightly. She licked the side of her ice cream to save it from dripping on her hand and then took a bite out of the top.

"Well I'm sugar-deficient," said Zelphar with a smirk, and then biting into his confection. Cold things never bothered his teeth, he could barely even feel it, even if using his front teeth to chomp into ice cream. It was good stuff, especially after going for weeks without junk food. Sure, the Cabrinis had sugary things, but he felt guilty coming over and eating a teenage-boy portion of their food.

"You should steal the cookies at my house more often," Azzurra replied. "Half of the family is too health conscious to go anywhere near them. It's really only my dad and occasionally Aria that touch them." She took another long lick of ice cream, smiling as Zelphar took a large bite.

"I think I'll take you up on that, we never get any sweets at Grant's," said Zelphar. He continued to attack his chocolate ice cream, it was a pleasant change to have muggle ice cream, instead of the strange flavours that wizards seemed to have. Nothing that turned fizzy, the most adventurous item only had those little snapping candies in them, and that was mild compared to most magical confections.

"Yeah, I think that's partly why my mum buys sweets," Azzurra replied with a soft chuckle. If she had it her way, Azzurra's mother would take Zelphar in as a member of the family, but Azzurra's father always insisted that they didn't have enough room for another kid unless they stuck all three girls into one room.

Zelphar nodded and then ate what was left of his ice cream above the cone. He ate the cone down a ways to get to more of the ice cream as Azzurra spoke. "Your mum is awesome, you know that?" said Zelphar. He usually felt a bit left out when he was around other families, but he might as well be part of the Cabrini family, what with how often he was over there and how well they all got along.

Azzurra finished off the top part of the ice cream with a large bite, a bit surprised by how fast Zelphar was eating his. "Yeah, I know," she replied with a slight smile. Azzurra loved her mother and knew it was hard for her not to know what was wrong with her daughter, but Azzurra wanted to keep her business private. She took a small bite of the cone.

There was that smile again, it was small, but genuine. Words could not describe how good it felt to see Azzurra happy, Zelphar had almost like an emotional connection with her. Since she had been down lately, he had mirrored her mood. Now it was much easier to talk freely, smile, laugh. Zelphar took another bite out of his cone. As he had no idea what to say, he allowed his mind to wander.
