Isabelle thirsted greatly, her eyes were black. She knew that if she did not find some suitable prey soon that she would go into bloodlust, and while not as dangerous with her as it would be with a newborn vampire, she might take out two or three blocks of people. She did not want to draw that much attention to herself, not just then anyways. Isabelle mentally decided that she was going to snag the next person who walked by the alley she was at, as she threw her cloak over an empty crate. The night was warm, humid, and still. In a city as busy as London, even the going-ons seemed to be lazier than normal.
Granted, it was quarter to three in the morning, but large cities were never remotely close to being at ease. Especially London. Isabelle ran a hand through her hair, she was so hungry... As if granting her wishes, the next person that ambled by was moderately appealing. But then again, her thirst was so massive that anyone would do. Not caring about being spotted by muggles, Isabelle lunged at the figure with a frightening growl. Soon, very soon, she would drink.

Wolfgang could not help but yell as he was tackled to the ground with a force that felt to the equivalent of a freight train. He heard the sound of his bones breaking, the nasty grinding crunches that made one want to throw up. Then came the searing pain, all through his sides. His ribs must be broken. Wolfgang's eyes filled with tears of pain, it was hard to breathe... His wand... Wolfgang reached for it within his pocket, he could not afford to fail this time.

Isabelle looked down at her prey, a young man, his blood smelled of a hard worker, it would probably give her strength a much-needed boost. Wait, this was Wolfgang Hermasaki, the Hogwarts champion of last term's Quadwizard Tournament, and a member of the Order of the Phoenix to boot! This would be good. Isabelle debated on whether or not to torture him for information first, but decided against it. She was too hungry. As he reached for his wand, Isabelle laughed, grabbed him by his shirtfront and dragged him into her alley.

Wolfgang's wand clattered to the street as he was tugged ruthlessly into the alley. He could barely breathe, there was no way that he would be able to talk, let alone scream. He was done for, there was no saving him now. Wolfgang was wandless, and quite alone with Isabelle the vampire. He began praying to any god that might be in existence to get him out of this mess, but somehow, he knew nobody was listening. Wolfgang began to struggle, in spite of how badly it hurt his injured ribs.

He was bleeding internally, Isabelle could smell it on the air. She must have punctured one of his lungs when she tackled him, yes, the breathing was all wheezy and barely enough to keep him alive. If she left him here, she expected that he would die within the hour. But no, she was going to drink. "Look at the champion now," Isabelle said tauntingly, her lips inches from his coursing jugular vein. Isabelle laughed for a moment, and then sank her teeth into his neck, drinking deeply from his blood, slowly becoming satisfied.

When the fangs pierced his neck, Wolfgang finally did emit a scream. The venom, it's aggressive sting was far worse than the pain in his ribs and ruined lung. There was no getting out of this now, it was all he could do to lay in the vampire's cold arms and await death. Oddly, Wolfgang was not scared, whatever was beyond this would be well worth the suffering right here. He closed his eyes and bit down on his tongue.

Isabelle drank until she had had her fill and then some. She looked down at her victim, so unnaturally pale, inches from death. There was enough blood left in him to let him live a few more minutes, five at most, but nowhere near enough for transformation. She threw the nearly dead Wolfgang to the concrete. "Nobody wins at life," Isabelle said down at him, and grabbed her cloak. She disapparated, leaving the young man to die alone.

Carrietta walked hand-in-hand with her husband, Avery, never before had they gone out tis late together, it was thrilling almost. The kids were with her mother, god bless her, for the weekend. As they passed the mouth of the alley, Carrietta lay eyes upon a curious figure, but when she saw dark burgundy liquid oozing from the form, she ran to the person. Gingerly turning him over, Carrietta gasped when she saw that it was Wolfgang. He looked inches from death, with a sinking feeling she realized there was nothing that could be done to save him. Carrietta snatched his hand. "Can you hear me?" she whispered softly.

Wolfgang only nodded feebly in response. He was going to die, he knew it. He was just thankful that Carrietta was just being there for him, instead of getting all weepy. Now there was not going to be a chance to fix his past mistakes, he had wanted to, badly at that, but nobody would listen. Wolfgang grasped Carrietta's hand the best he could, but found that his body was slowly failing to respond to the commands his brain sent out.

"I'm here, Wolfgang," said Carrietta, grasping his hand even more tightly as his fingers struggled to wrap around hers. She felt her eyes filling with tears, but willed them not to fall. She did not want the last thing for this young man to see be her weeping. Wolfgang deserved better than that. In a motherly fashion, Carrietta brushed the hair from his face. She wished there was something she could do, but there was nothing that could be done. Not even magic could save him now.

The pain was starting to go away, Wolfgang was going numb and his vision was beginning to fade. All he could see was Carrietta's thin face above his. He had to make it right, but there wasn't anything that he could do. "Tell her I'm sorry," Wolfgang could barely get to come from his mouth. He could feel death gripping him harder than Carrietta was clutching his hand. This was it... Wolfgang's last breath passed his lips quietly, and the champion was finally defeated.

"Her? Who's her?" said Carrietta, but he was already gone. Carrietta watched as Wolfgang's chest fell for the last time. She finally allowed herself to cry, he was so young, only eighteen. So much of life he had missed out on, he would never know what it was like to be married, be a parent, all the experiences. Carrietta gently closed his eyelids with her left hand, still holding Wolfgang's hand in her right. It was then that Avery finally intervened. "We've got to let the rest of the Order know, come now," said he in his deep voice, wrapping an arm around her waist. The two of them, Wolfgang's body en tote disappeared with a pop. Carrietta opened her eyes, finding herself in the darkened Irish countryside, where Cici and Angel had been hidden away. Suddenly, Carrietta came to the realization of who "her" was, it was Angel.

Cici, breaking one of the rules of her living there, left through the front gate at almost a run. She had just had a horrible vision, and it was so clear, it must be happening soon. Her hair was down and she was dressed in nothing but her terrycloth bathrobe. She paused at the three figures, clapping a hand to her mouth. Cici had been too late, tears welled up in her eyes, but now was not the time to break down, they weren't safe yet. "Bring him in the gate," Cici said quietly, her face white.

Avery followed the instructions given quickly, carrying the body gently, but Carrietta found herself frozen to the spot. Tears streamed down her face, but other than that she did not move. She was certainly traumatized, she knew that Wolfgang had a twin sister, she would be devastated, and what of Angel? Carrietta stood, her crying eyes unblinking, she could not even think about what to do next, she just wanted to stand there forever.

"Carrietta," Cici said softly, placing her hand at the history professor's elbow. "Come, we must get in the gate, we're not safe here." She wrapped her hand a bit more firmly around the crook of Carrietta's arm, and then began to pull her in direction of the open gate, where Avery stood, Wolfgang's body in his arms. Cici felt almost sick to her stomach, their first loss, and she had a brooding feeling that there would be more of them to come.
