Sydney waltzed into the Great Hall for breakfast fashionably early that morning. She wasn't quite sure why, or how in the world she could actually get dressed and presentable within an hour, but she somehow managed. Her hair was fluffed and her usual curls more bouncy than ever. She wore her school uniform, the robe, the sweater, the skirt. The stockings had been traded in for skin tone nylons, and small pumps replaced the usual clunky shoes. She took a seat at the close to empty Hufflepuff table peacefully, ignoring the stares.
Sydney honestly hated those looks. Love-struck boys, and jealous girls. It didn't help that she was French either. She looked up and noticed a couple of guys staring from the Slytherin table. When she met their gaze, their faces turned bright red, their hands moving rapidly to their faces to hook their jaws back into place. No doubt Sydney made their day. She groaned loudly and hurriedly stuffed her plate. Someone slipped into the seat beside her and she turned to face...

Blaize sat down, wearing his uniform, but it wasn't quite ready for the school day ahead. His shirt wasn't tucked in, his tie was crooked, his left shoelace untied, and he had yet to fasten his robes that he just left open. Needless to say he was tired, and needed some caffeine before he was ready for lessons. Blaize poured himself a cup of coffee and then added some cream. "'Morning," Blaize groggily greeted Sydney with an awkward smile.

Sydney grinned at Blaize, shaking her head as she laughed. The boy was hardly dressed, and that was just too adorable. She reached over and straightened his tie. "There." she replied when finished. The rest he could do on his own, for tucking in a guy's shirt or tying a sixteen year old's shoe was just wrong. A little straightening of the tie was nothing. Sydney turned back to her plate and began eating her food in ladylike pieces, driving herself insane. She could swear up and down that she had split personalities. One was the honorable, sweet, gently lady that she was raised as at Beauxbatons, and the other was the new, arrogant, trouble-making beauty queen that she found in herself at Hogwarts. Oh, if only her mind could just combine the two, she would be fantastic.

Blaize blushed a bit as Sydney straightened his tie, as it had brought her quite close to him. It was no secret that he liked her, and liked her a lot, but almost every time he tried to talk to her he got too scared to ask her out. Maybe next term, or even over the summer. Blaize downed the entire cup of coffee without coming up for a breath and placed the mug gently on the table before filling it up a second time. "How're you?" asked Blaize.

"I'm well." she replied, watching Blaize down his cup. Sydney took note of his blush, and had to blush as well. Maybe straightening his tie wasn't such a good idea. Yes, it was. her brain interjected. Sydney frowned before turning back towards her plate and taking a bite of toast. She took a quick glance up to see that the boys from Slytherin were staring a Blaize. Sydney smirked before returning to her meal. "And how are you?" she asked politely.

"A bit tired," said Blaize. "Didn't sleep well last night." He was prone to long spells of insomnia a few times a year, there wasn't a particular reason behind it, but a few weeks at a time he would lie awake in bed for the longest time, unable to fall asleep for a long while, and not staying asleep for longer than an hour or two at a time. Three nights with little sleep took its toll on Blaize, but so long as coffee was available, he would be fine.

Sydney took another sip of coffee and nodded. "That's too bad." She replied, stirring some milk into her coffee. It usually took her a couple of sips to actually taste the coffee, and she would make several adjustments. She leaned back into her seat and took another sips of her newly sweetened coffee.

"Well, coffee's a real lifesaver," Blaize yawned as he finished off his first mug and quickly poured himself another with a splash of cream. He would most likely fall asleep in his first class of the day (Herbology) if he went without this morning. Blaize supposed that he could try a simple sleeping potion tonight, but somehow that felt wrong. Just knocking himself out with a potion like that. Besides, in the middle of the night, when nobody was awake to disturb him, Blaize's mind thought of many things that never so much as crossed it during the day. It was refreshing.

Sydney laughed. She took another sip of her coffee before adding a spritz of vanilla. She lifted her mug up to him. "Amen to that." she replied, nodding her head. She downed a bit of the coffee, the vanilla wrapping itself around her tongue. She smiled sweetly, finishing off her plate of eggs and toast. She reached across to the middle of the table to grab a cinnamon bagel when her hand brushed against Blaize's. She blushed fervently. She acted so dumb sometimes! One minute she was reaching for food and the next she was blushing like a stupid little girl. It drove her mad.

Blaize too blushed, nearly the same colour as his "Weasley red" hair. He had taken after his father extremely in appearance, but he (like Emily) had inherited Hermione's dental problems, but she had allowed them to fix their teeth with magic rather than doing braces, even if it upset Grandmother and Grandfather Granger. Blaize drew his hand away and pretended to be extremely interested in the plate of food before him.

Sydney quickly snatched up a cinnamon bagel and took a rather large, hasty bite. Her face was still flushed, and refused to be any other color. Especially it's normal, tan one. She hid behind her coffee, still embarrassed. Then she noticed Blaize. His face was flushed as much as hers, if not more. Sydney broke out in a full-hearted laugh, relaxing just a bit. So he was just as embarrassed as she was! Sydney was rather surprised, but it didn't show through her wide grin.

Blaize jumped a bit as Sydney laughed, and managed a small, meager chuckle himself. He could feel stares in their direction from the few others in the hall, but didn't care, many people stared at him anyways. The first Weasley to be a Hufflepuff. Ever. And a tame life compared to the adventures his parents had at his age. Blaize was an oddball and he knew it.

Sydney felt stares boring the back of her neck. No doubt it was jealousy, or confusion. Boys of all ages turned their heads when she walked by, but she blew most of them off. It probably came as a surprise at the fact she was yucking it up with the "Weasley screw-up". The first Weasley sorted into Hufflepuff, the "boring Weasley". Sydney wanted to slap everyone who called Blaize that, thought of him that way. He was perfect in every way in her mind. She was attracted to every fiber of him, from his fiery hair to his awkward, shy self. It was absolutely adorable in Sydney's mind, completely irresistible.

"D'you want to go somewhere else?" asked Blaize, a bit uncomfortable with the staring. He cared much for being the centre of attention. He was certain that Sydney was rather used to it, she after all, was flawless. She was kind, smart, pretty (No, gorgeous, Blaize mentally corrected himself), not to mention she had the exoticness of being a former student of Beauxbatons. However, Blaize preferred being on the sidelines, to not have everyone look at him. That was one of the main reasons he didn't want to live a life similar to his father's.

Sydney took a sip of her coffee and nodded, grateful for the suggestion. She got to her feet, taking the mug up with her. She took one last, rather large swig before setting it back down upon the table. She waited patiently for Blaize to stand up, her eyes scanning the room. Most of the boy's at the Slytherin table were gawking at her, and she stuck her tongue out at them. They instantly cowered behind their plates. Satisfied, Sydney followed Blaize out of the Great Hall. "Where to?" she asked."
