"Well, yes," Gabriella replied, "But being pessimistic isn't going to help anything either." She chuckled slightly at the part about sweets again, wondering if Xavier was even old enough to have much candy. Gabriella could almost see Isaac struggling with himself, probably comparing himself to his father, as he had earlier in the conversation. But in her eyes, they were nothing alike. Draco hadn't simply messed up, he hadn't tried to be good. Isaac had just made a few mistakes.

It was only then did Isaac reach for Gabriella's hand. It might have felt cold to a mortal, but to him, his fiance was warm. "It'll be an adventure I guess," said Isaac with a strained smile. Xavier. He had a son. It was still hard to think of him having his own children already, it didn't connect right in his brain for the longest time, but now it was slowly dawning on him. Isaac was a father. He felt nearly sick at himself, leaving Miranda alone in a great time of need. But she hadn't told him she was expecting, surely it wasn't the way Wolfgang had dumped Angie after she told him she was pregnant...

"It certainly will," Gabriella agreed, squeezing Isaac's hand slightly. It was weird to think about him having a son, so Gabriella tried not to dwell on it too much. It would be fun to take care of a little kid every other week, she supposed, not unlike babysitting.

"I was planning on going shopping this weekend," said Isaac after a pause. "Get Xavier some things for when he's with me, there haven't been children his age in the Malfoy home for a while." Of course, with the way his mother obsessed over their childhood things, every last scrap of anything related to their growing up was probably neatly organized in the cellar, but Xavier deserved new things. Isaac's stomach sank, his mother. She had yet to know that she was a grandmother...

Gabriella nodded, but she wondered what kinds of things Isaac would get for his son. She wasn't entirely sure what she would get if she had a child, mostly because she hadn't been around small children in a while. But she could remember when some of her cousins were small. "Would you like me to come with you?" Gabriella offered. After all, she probably wouldn't have anything better to do.

"If you could, I don't even know where to start," said Isaac somewhat bashfully. Xavier was one year and a few months old, he wasn't sure what they would like. Perhaps some picture books, blocks, maybe he would look through his childhood toys for ideas. But if Isaac remembered correctly, he was more into climbing trees and finding secret passages in the manor when he was a child than his toys.

Gabriella smiled, she had figured that Isaac would be mostly clueless regarding young children. "We can probably start at a Muggle shop, they seem to have good toys for young children," she replied. "But their toys for older kids are pretty awful." Gabriella supposed Xavier would just need someone to play with him more than he would need actual toys. Little kids tended to be like that, from stories she heard, she always just ran around with her mother when she was little, then starting climbing trees shortly after that.

"Okay, then, we'll start there." said Isaac. This was going to be a journey, and he was so grateful that Gabriella wasn't angry with him for this. He probably would have reacted a lot more harshly if he found out that she had a small child by way of another, even if there was little to nothing he could do about it.
