Sydney mentally slapped herself in the forehead. How could she be so stupid? "Erm, that was.... I am..." she bit her her, trying to come up with something to say. She had her tongue tied now, and it was going to be hard to get it out of a knot before she did or said something equally stupid. She rested her head in her hands and propped her elbows up on the counter.

Blaize gave an understanding sort of smile, he knew what it was like to not be able to find the right words, perhaps it took another socially awkward person to understand, he sort of got the gist. Of course, what he took from it was a total hypothesis. He took a sip of butterbeer, pretending not to notice her blunder, there were several times that Blaize wished people would do that for him.

Sydney noticed the fact he was purposefully ignoring her. She took a deep breath and sighed. She gave him a thankful smile. That was really the first time someone had done that for her. Taking a swig of her butterbeer, she silenced herself and her awkwardness.

Blaize finished the last swig of his butterbeer and placed the glass back down on the bar, making a bit louder of a noise than he had meant to, but at least he did not shatter the goblet, which he was grateful for. He was unsure of how to continue their conversation, so he remained quiet, figuring that he would let Sydney continue their talking if she wanted, but silence was perfectly fine with him, it meant there was less of a chance for him to make an idiot of himself.

Sydney, too, remained silent. She polished off her butterbeer, which happened to be half full at the time. She set it on the counter after chugging it and the wiped her mouth daintly on a napkin. She placed the napkin on her lap and flashed a smile at Blaize.

Blaize clumsily returned her smile, feeling his face and ears instantly flush a bright red that nearly blended with his vivid red hair. He hastily looked away, wishing that he had another butterbeer, just to give himself something to do to mull over the awkwardness. He bit his lip, finally feeling the blush in his entire head go down. "Anything else?" asked the bartender. "Could I, um, just get a glass of water please." said Blaize.

"Same for me please." Sydney replied before the bartender turned to her. The man smiled and nodded his head before turning away. She bit her lip, trying to come up with something to say. The water came, but she still had not come up with anything intelligent to say. Hoping to fill the void in her head by taking a sip of the water. No dice.

"D'you, um, follow any Quidditch teams?" asked Blaize. He did not know of anyone that was not a supporter of one team, except of course his cousin Leviticus, the oddball didn't even like Quidditch in the first place, it was certainly strange. Blaize was a fanatic, he liked Ireland and the Wimbourne Wasps, though he was not that big an expert on teams outside of the UK, though he knew some of the basics. Romania, the Madrid Crusaders, et cetera, but no French ones.

Sydney pondered this for a moment. "Um, that's a tough one. I follow lots of teams. I guess I follow a lots of the French teams. My family used to take me to matches when we lived in France. Gosh, it's been a long time though... I don't remember most of their mascot names." She added with a laugh. "My parents didn't have much time for me when we were preparing to move here after Jack." She explained.

Blaize nodded understandingly, it must have been a bit chaotic moving from France to the United Kingdom, but to forget ALL the Quidditch teams? Perhaps it was because he was extremely passionate for the sport, much more so than several other people. He drove Emily crazy sometimes, since she only liked to play, she did not care for watching. "I follow Ireland and the Wimbourne Wasps myself." said Blaize.

Sydney nodded knowingly. She followed few teams now, but she faintly remember those two. She took another sip of water before she realized that she was shaking. The water on her body was finally causing her to be cold. She quickly produced her wand and used a spell to dry herself. Placing her wand back inside her robes, then fluffed her newly dried curls.

Blaize was used to being cold for the most part, Quidditch matches were never canceled because of the weather, it could be the worst storm of the century and they would still play. He had been on the team since first year (a rarity), and that very same year they played Slytherin in the winter, and there was a horrible snowstorm going through the area. That match took forever, since neither of the seekers could see the snitch very well.

Sydney took another sip of water. Now that she was dry, she felt refreshed. She let the cold liquid drizzle slowly down her throat. She looked over at Blaize. She didn't want to admit that she kind of idolized him. She settled for just saying something small. "You are a very good Quidditch player." She replied softly.

Blaize's ears went red, and he gave a bashful smile. "Thanks," he said. It was his sport, he was terribly clumsy on land, and usually bungled everything, except for Quidditch. He had been Keeper since his second year, he had been a chaser his first year, but his real talents lied in keeping. Just like his father. He had been looking at going professional after graduation.

Sydney smiled. She absently fluffed her brown curls again. "You're welcome." She replied. She took the final sip of her water and crunched quietly on the rice. The ice soothed her throat and cleared her thoughts. Sometimes she wished she could read minds, that way she could figure out how to talk to Blaize without being stupid.
