Blaize pulled open the door and held it for Sydney, it just seemed like the gentlemanly thing to do. He stepped in and allowed the door to practically slam behind him. He felt the water dripping off of him, as if he had just gone swimming rather than taking a walk. The pub was practically empty, except for a small group of old wizards that was always there. He took a seat at the bar, figuring that Sydney would sit beside him. "What can I get for you?" asked the bartender. "A butterbeer for me, what d'you want Sydney?" said Blaize.

Sydney glanced at the bartender, hiding behind her hair. She was a little too comfortable here, and she didn't want to look suspicious. She pretended to be shy towards the man. "Butterbeer." she replied, just loud enough for the two of them to hear. She clambered up onto the seat next to Blaize awkwardly. She still felt awful about her little.... awkward party... she felt so stupid! No doubt she was still blushing.

The man placed two mugs filled with butterbeer in front of them, and then went about his business. Blaize was fairly impressed with the condition of the glasses, they actually looked like they had been cleaned. The Hog's Head had been getting much better about cleanliness of late. Perhaps it was the threat to be shut down. Blaize took a sip of butterbeer, figuring that he would allow Sydney to start conversation, as he never knew what to say.

Sydney graciously took a swig of butterbeer. Setting the mug down, she turned to look at Blaize through her dripping bangs. "Thank you." she replied with a charming smile. She probably looked deranged, with a crazed smile, flushed face, and the greasy looking hair to match. With that thought, Sydney chuckled to herself.

"Um, what for?" asked Blaize, slightly confused. He had not done anything out of the ordinary, had he? He supposed that he did cover the cost for the butterbeers, but with his wages from Scrivenshaft's, though nowhere near enough to support himself, were more than ample to cover a few drinks once and a while. He compensated for the silence by taking an overlarge drink of butterbeer, and nearly choked on it. He coughed forcefully a few times, and then coloured deeply.

Sydney giggled slightly. She patted him lightly on the back somewhat jokingly. "For being so kind to me." she replied simply. She turned and took a small sip of her butterbeer, trying not to choke on it as Blaize had done. Her thoughts wandered momentarily to other things, such as school. She momentarily forgot about Blaize, staring off into space.

"Yeah, sure," said Blaize, probably too quietly for Sydney to hear. He was dimly aware that the group of old wizards were watching them, most likely fascinated that someone younger than sixty had come into the pub. He took a sip of butterbeer, this time a moderately sized one so he would not choke on it again. Blaize thought dimly that he should do a quick charm to dry himself off, but decided against it, he was not in the mood for accidentally setting himself on fire.

Sydney brought her attention back to Blaize. She felt stupid for being able to have an intelligent conversation. Sydney grew uneasy at the older couple staring at them. She awkwardly diverted her attention away from them, taking a controlled sip of butterbeer.

"So how d'you like Hogwarts so far?" asked Blaize, recalling that Sydney had transferred from Beauxbatons along with her older brother, Jack (also a Hufflepuff as they were), not that long ago. He took a quick sip of butterbeer as he waited for Sydney to reply. He wondered what it was like in France, he could always ask his older cousin Angel, but she tended to get upset at the mention of such things.

Sydney smiled. "It has been a change... but a change for the better I believe." she replied. She didn't realize how truly mysterious she sounded at that moment. She had learned plenty of interesting things since coming here, like the death Eater activity. That, and she was friends with a Malfoy. Always interesting.

"Well, that's good," said Blaize, unsure of how to continue the conversation. He fell silent once more, using his finger to lightly trace the features of his glass, while he bit his lip gently. Sydney was certainly pretty, she had appeal to him, but Blaize doubted that she would be interested in him anyways, what would a beautiful girl like her want with a stuttering, awkward, and clumsy guy like him?

Sydney laughed a bit when she saw Blaize's uneasiness. No doubt he felt she was an arrogant, selfish snob who didn't deserve his kindness and patience. She twirled a strand of wet hair around her finger, using her free hand to take a sip of her warm butterbeer. She couldn't believe she actually had the privilege of sitting and having an intelligent conversation with the boy she admired. Sure, it was small, but even that was a blessing in her mind.

Blaize sincerely hoped that Sydney hadd not figured out that his parents were Ron and Hermione Weasley, it was always an awkward moment whenever someone did, it felt like people wanted to say "you're their son? How come you haven't done anything like they have yet? They helped Harry Potter get to the Philosopher's Stone in their first year!"It also didn't help that his uncle was Harry Potter... But then again, there were countless Weasley families out there because of the sheer largeness of their families. Blaize remained quiet.

Sydney twirled a strand of her sopping wet hair around her index finger. She knew of Blaize's heritage. No doubt by now many people would be critisizing him. Sydney decided to say something. "You know, I think it's great that your parents are so famous. I just want to let you know that I like you for who you are, not because of them." She paused awkwardly. 'Did I just say that I LIKED him?' she thought increduously. She laid her head in her hands, her face burning.

Blaize had to work hard at suppressing a groan when Sydney just had to bring up the topic of his parents. To an outsider, his life might seem extremely mundane from what his parents did, their epic adventures, they had one every freaking year they were in school it seemed. All Blaize really wanted to do was write novels, but Ron wanted him to be an Auror. Blaize was already enough of a disappointment to his father, but he was not cut out for hunting dark witches and wizards. "Very, um, kind of you," Blaize said bashfully.
