Bella was mad, even more so than usual. This time that stupid Gryffindor had really done it! Luckily, Bella had managed to avoid a detention, but barely. Had any teachers been watching the exchange, she would surely have a month's worth of detentions. The scene played out in her head again.
"Oh look who it is, Bellatrix Malfoy," said the fourth year boy in a teasing tone. "Just like her aunt. Will probably turn out like her too. Dead." The last part was in a low tone, but Bella was obviously meant to hear it. And that she did. Someone the bottom of the boy's pants caught on fire. "Oh look who it is, the ugly Gryffindor," Bella said in a cruel and icy tone. "Will probably go up in flames just like his stupid father." Bella knew the boy's dad had been killed by Death Eaters a while ago. The boy whipped around to face her, wand out. "Don't insult my father!" he roared. "Oh I'll insult the idiot if I want," Bella replied teasingly, holding up the fire in her hands. The boy backed away slightly, scared. "Watch it," he said, trying not to show his fear. "Oh, is the itty-bitty Gryffindor afraid?" Bella asked in a baby voice. There was a small explosion and suddenly a large bubble in between them. One of the boy's friends had broken it up. "Clear off before we all get detention," the other boy said to everyone watching.
Bella pounded on the sink in frustration. Why could she never get a chance to prove herself? And everyone seemed to know exactly how to push her buttons. She seemed so predictable sometimes, and that just made her all the more mad. Why, why did she had to inherit Draco's temper? Bella threw a fireball at the wall and it exploded in a puff of smoke. When the smoke cleared there was a chunk missing. Biting her lip, Bella reached for her wand to repair it. But someone did the job first. Eyes still ablaze, she whipped around to see...

Sydney twirled her wand in her fingers and stuffed it inside her robes. She turned to face Bella and grinned. "Interesting temper. Fire elemental, I presume?" she asked curiously. She looked the girl up and down in approval. "I saw what you did to that little Gryffindor idiot earlier. Very impressive. Probably better than what I could have done..." she smirked. "Probably." she added with a slight sarcastic tone. She stuck out her hand to the girl. "Sydney Greyer."

"Bellatrix Malfoy," Bella said in reply, though she didn't extend her hand to meet Sydney's. That was mostly because it was still burning with fire, but also she wasn't sure what to make of this girl just yet. It seemed that this girl could either be a good friend of Bella's or someone that could really annoy her, there was no in between when it came to Bella, unless you were family. That was different. "Thanks, but he had it coming to him."

Sydney smiled then withdrew her hand to her side. "Of course he did." she replied with a smirk. "Deserved every pennies worth watching him as well." she smiled. Turning, she examined her hair absentmindedly in a mirror beside her.

Bella nodded, though she wasn't quite sure where Sydney was going with this one. From first impression, Sydney seemed more like a prankster than a serious Slytherin, at least to Bella, who was secretly running with Death Eaters on the weekends. But perhaps she could still be a friend, at least for now. "So you're a Hufflepuff?" she asked, gesturing towards the other girl's robes.

Sydney nodded, a clear look of disgust plastered onto her face. "Yes, but only because my goody brother was sorted here. I would much rather be a Slytherin." she replied with a slight, mischievous smile. She knew that Bella was running with the Death Eaters, and she wanted in. But first she would need to reel Bella in and make her a friend, an ally.

((OOC: I have a problem with that. Bella keeps her secrets well hidden and Sydney probably wouldn't know Bella was a Death Eater unless Bella told her.)) A slight smile came across Bella's face as she heard that Sydney the Hufflepuff actually wanted to be a Slytherin. That was probably a first. Most Hufflepuffs loathed Slytherins, and generally the other way around as well. But perhaps this girl was different. "Ah, your brother," Bella replied, nodding. She knew of Jack Greyer.

((OOC: Kay, sorry. Disregard my last post until I have time to change it.))
Sydney smiled. Obviously Bella knew her brother. "What do you know of Jack?" she asked, curious. She leaned against a sink and watched Bella intently, awaiting reply.

((OOC: Alright, thanks.)) Bella shrugged slightly, as though Jack Greyer were of no importance, which he really wasn't to her, except he was Sydney's brother. "Just that he's a goody two-shoes Hufflepuff," she replied. "You know, the type that is "loyal and hard-working" and the crap that the sorting hat says about the House." Hopefully Sydney wasn't too fond of her brother, otherwise she might not like Bella's words, but Bella had a feeling Sydney wouldn't mind, considering how she spoke of Jack a few moments ago.

Sydney nodded. She used to look up to her brother like he was a god, kissing the ground he walked on, that kind of thing. That was until she had heard about some of the underground Death Eater sort of thing going on farther on up in London. She had done plenty of research and had found that Dark Magic was quite the intriguing subject. She remained silent for a moment, allowing Bella time to fit in some conversation.

"Do you like your brother?" Bella asked cautiously, since Sydney hadn't said anything in response to her semi-rant about the sorting hat's ideas of the houses. For once, Bella's tone wasn't accusatory, merely curious, which was certainly odd for her. Running around with Death Eaters tended to leave people with some pretty cold dispositions.

Sydney looked up at Bella, realizing her gaze had been directed at her feet as she thought. Hesitating, she answered, slowly. "I don't. I used to.... but not anymore. We no longer share anything in common." she replied bluntly, surprising herself. She knew that she didn't like her brother, but she had no idea her true feelings until she spoke them aloud. It felt almost... good.

"I know the feeing," Bella replied, her tone still surprisingly pleasant. Perhaps the truth was finally coming out. Bella was relating more to Sydney by the minute. She certainly seemed different from her siblings, Isaac and Safira. They were both such good and nice people, and Bella often felt alienated when she spoke to them. The Malfoy children had used to be close, but now there was a definite rift. The only person Bella wasn't sure about was Vivienne, but she was too young to know a whole lot about the family issues.

Sydney cocked her head curiously. For the first time, her eyes were open to the world of the Malfoys. She had always heard the rumors of the odd ones, like Isaac and Safira. Then there was Bella. All those pleasantly nasty rumors were true, and Sydney smiled to herself. She was glad. She turned towards the mirror absentmindedly and fixed her hair, examining her clothes, what have you.

Bella tugged on her large hoop earring a bit, wondering what was going on in Sydney's mind. The girl didn't seem to be quite as talkative as Bella had initially anticipated. The Hufflepuff sure seemed full of various surprised. It became clear in a moment, however, that she was a bit vain, like Bella herself, as Sydney fixed her hair and clothes while looking in the mirror. Bella said nothing for the moment.
