Isaac stood at his cauldron, cutting ingredients carefully. He had to make a satisfactory Draught of Living Death in the time limit of one hour. Remembering the tips the professor had given them, he crushed the beans with his knife instead of cutting them to release the juices better. As he stirred in the juice, his potion turned from white to a pale lilac. It should be the colour of black liquorice when complete.

Seven counterclockwise, one clockwise, Gabriella reminded herself as she stirred the Draught of Living Death. Luckily, the Potions professor had gone over this recently, so it wouldn't be too hard to complete it within an hour. Gabriella's potion was soon completely clear. Smiling, she reached for the next ingredient.

Jenna glanced down at her potion nervously, it now looked like water, since it was so clear. Sighing in relief, she carefully measured out the next ingredient and let in fall into the cauldron, which turned a dark grey. With a slight smile, Jenna began to stir it again, hoping it would turn black soon; the time limit was running up.

Luke had added the last ingredient and his potion was now the completely black, which was exactly what was supposed to happen. Smiling, he carefully scooped up two tubes full of potion (just in case) and brought them to the front, where an instructor was waiting for him.

Hiroku was fairly postive that she was going to fail this practical. Her potion was emitting smoke as well as a very foul odor. The instructor looked appalled as Hiroku handed her a flask of it. At least it was black; though Hiroku doubted that was even the right black.
