Angel sat in the back room, doing what she did best, wand-making. She was currently whittling the handle of a very fine one. Juniper, eleven and a half inches, unicorn hair core. The manager had been so impressed with her skills that she was promoted to primary wand-maker within four days of taking up this new job. Angel gently shook her foot to rid it of wood shavings, then continued forming the handle. While wand-making seemed easy, it was actually a highly detailed profession, and magic could not be used to form a wand, they were all hand-made.
The bell over the door tinkled just as Angel finished polishing the new wand, and with it still in hand, she walked to the front to service a wizard, who had his wans in two pieces, grasped in one hand. "All right sir," said Angel, putting down the wand and examining him. "Which is your wand arm?" He looked down at his broken wand, obviously a bit upset. "Left," he said. "Okay," said Angel, then went through the standard procedure of measurements. "I will be right back," said she, then walked amongst the shelves of wand boxes, remembering the curriculum for wand-choosing. She returned to the front. "Here," said Angel, opening up the box and offering the wand to the man. "Try this. Hornbeam, twelve and a quarter inches, dragon heartstring."
The man waved the wand, and nothing happened. "Not quite," said Angel, taking the wand back and replacing it in the box. She darted back into the shelves, looking for something similar. She grabbed another box. "How about this," she said, giving him the wand. "Cedar, ten and half inches, phoenix feather." He tried it, again, nothing happened. The door opened again as Angel was searching for another wand for the man to try. "I'll be with you in a moment!" Angel said, then came back with another wand, only to see...

Gabriella, twirling her very dirty wand. She needed wand polish, badly. Sometimes her didn't even work properly. Gabriella's eyes widened upon seeing Angel. So this was where she was earning her money. That made sense, Angel had always wanted to be a wand-maker. "Hey Angie," Gabriella said with a smile.

"Hi Gabby," Angel said with a smile, and then turned back to the man, offering him this wand. "I think this one might do it," said she. "Hazel, thirteen inches, unicorn hair." He flicked it, and yet again, nothing happened. She sighed, the walked through the shelves of wand boxes again, then grabbed yet another. Angel had a really good feeling about this one, it just seemed to be warm within the box... "Try this," she told him, handing him the wand. "Beech, eleven and a half inches, phoenix feather." When the man took the wand, Angel knew that was the right one. "That's the ticket," Angel told him, and rang up his order. After he paid, Angel turned to her cousin. "How can I help you?" asked Angel with a wink.

Gabriella smiled at the familiar sight of Angel's wink; clearly her cousin was in a good mood today, which was a plus. The man left the store at last. "Looks like you got your dream job, huh?" Gabriella said with a grin. She still wasn't so happy about Angel giving up on school, but there wasn't much she could do. "Some wand polish please, oh wand-maker!"

"But of course, O Weary Consumer," she replied. Angel smiled, then looked beneath the counter. The manager had said the display was unattractive, and so now the polish was available only upon customer request. When she emerged from beneath the counter she held a bottle of polish in one hand and a special rag for polishing in the other.

"Thank you oh kind one," Gabriella replied with a slight chuckle. Angel was amusing today. When her cousin returned from the depths of the counter, she was holding precisely what Gabriella had asked for. Gabriella set her purse on the counter and opened it. "How much do I owe you?" she asked.

Angel quickly punched in the code for the items in the cash register, she had memorized all of them within an hour, but then again, there were not many things to have to know. "Two sickles and three knuts," said Angel, pushing the button to open up the cash register drawer. She liked the old thing, it was such a pretty design...

Gabriella smiled; it wasn't too much, that was a good thing. She handed Angel the amount of money, in exact change. There was nothing like being poor to give you a bunch of knuts and sickles in your purse. She picked up the bag from the counter and paused for a second. "When's your break?" she asked. Gabriella would like to go somewhere with Angel. It seemed like she never saw her cousin anymore.

Angel closed the drawer of the register, scribbled the order down on the pad of paper on the counter and looked up at the clock. "We close for lunch in five minutes, do you just want to hang around here until then?" asked Angel. Spending her lunch hour with Gabriellasounded like fun, they didn't see much of each other since she had left school.

Gabriella smiled and nodded, glad that Angel's break was soon. She didn't really know what she would do if there was still a bunch of time before Angel's break. Walking around Diagon Alley didn't seem like that much fun today. "Sure, that works for me," she replied, taking a seat in one of the few chairs in Ollivander's.

Angel picked up the wand that she had been making before the man came in and took it into the back room. By the time she had fitted it to a box and polished it, she figured that it would be lunch. Angel sat down and began to work, bythe time she had finished, it was eleven thirty. She came back to the front with the Closed for Lunch sign and flicked her wand at it, the sign fastened itself to the door. "Shall we get going then?" asked Angel.

Gabriella smiled. "Yes, I suppose we should," she replied. If she ever needed a wand, she was definitely getting one made by Angel. "Where would you like to go?" Gabriella asked. She had no personal opinion, seeing as everything she ate would taste the same, but Angel probably had some place in mind.

"There's an Italian place not too far from the muggle side of the Leaky Cauldron," Angel said, grabbing her coat from the stand near the door where employees were supposed to put their things. "I've been going there a lot recently, the boys want their ravioli." She pulled on her cloak and fastened it, the wind in february could get rather nippy at times.

Gabriella smiled a bit at this. At least Angel was eating, even though what she ate was sometimes a bit strange. From what Gabriella had recently researched about being pregnant, a lot of women couldn't keep anything down. "Alright, let's go there," she replied. It wasn't like Gabriella herself was going to be eating anything anyways. Plus she liked Italian places.

Angel smiled. The food was mediocre, but the atmosphere was amazing. And more importantly, the twins loved their ravioli, even if it wasn't half as good as the same dish at Hogwarts. Muggle cooking just could not compare to the work of house elves, they did a much better job. Angel opened the door and held it open for Gabriella, while at the same time reaching into her cloak pocket for a jar of pickles she had stashed there. Angel was always hungry, but could only keep down pickles, peanut butter, ravioli, and sometimes yogurt.
