Alone or Not(open)

Jane walked up the staircase in the Shrieking Shack. The steps made a loud creek as she stepped on them. She liked it in here. It was so quit except for the creaking of the floor. It was so old and full of cobwebs. She often liked to hang out here. Just by herself. All of a sudden she stooped. She could still hear creaking. She wasn't alone.

Gabriella had come there from Herbology, which had been her last class of the day. Not a day had gone by in that class where she hadn't wished she had skipped and this day was no different. The sun shining through the roof was just far too bright for her. Luckily, the Shrieking Shrack was dark and she could stay there for a while. Then she smelled someone else. Gabriella saw the other girl. "Hi, I'm Gabriella," she said with a smile and a nod. She quickly checked to make sure her eyes were still brown. They already were.

Jane turned around quickly and looked her straight in the eye. "Who are you and what do you want?" she yelled. She couldn't possible be talking to her if she didn't want something from her. No one ever did.

[igloogirl]

Gabriella had heard of this girl; the crazy Hufflepuff was the rumor. She raised her eyebrows at the girl's yelled response. "I already told you who I am," she replied calmly. "But the question remains, what's your name?" Gabriella ran a hand through her hair, then looked back at the girl, daring her to say something else absurd.

[neigh]

"Jane" she replied rudely. "But I don't see why you would care. Your just a stupid happy person. You don't see the world as it truly is. A world of selfish jerks. All wanting something from you. Waiting to strike out at any moment."

[igloogirl]

"A stupid happy person am I?" Gabriella asked, a bit amused by this weird girl, but also a little bit shocked. Her heartbeat was very strange, almost to the point of being scared, though that made little sense. "Would it interest you to know that my best friend is pregnant and disowned. I'm getting married to a Malfoy, enemy of my parents and my father's refusing to come to the wedding. I aced OWL's, but that didn't stop my ex-boyfriend from cheating with a part-veela. Or the Death Eaters to stop jumping out at me from every corner. Yeah, I'm a stupid happy person." Gabriella's last words were loaded with sarcasm. She also could've thrown in the whole vampire business, but that was supposed to be a secret and she didn't need this baby-ish girl to know that.

[neigh]

"Well welcome to life" she yelled. "Where nothing turns out as you want it to. The whole world is angnest us and always will be. "You can try to win the battle with life but at the end your just going to lose. So get used to it."

[igloogirl]

"Oh yeah, and what bad things have happened to you?" Gabriella fired back, her temper becoming increasingly short with this annoyance she was facing. "You better have a good reason to be acting like this, otherwise sooner or later, you'll get in big trouble with the teachers." Sunlight came through a window and Gabriella took a step away from it, instinctively hating the light.

Nothing really bad had happened to Jane. The evil of the world she spook of was all in her head. She didn't know how it got there. No body did. "Nothing you need to know about" she rudely told her.

Gabriella nodded, but both the girl's heartbeat and her scent told her that Jane was lying. "So nothing bad happened, you just got depressed of your life?" Gabriella guessed. "I see. It happens." Gabriella shrugged and walked past Jane, walking up the stairs. She had homework she could be doing.

Finally Jane was alone like she wanted she felt like she didn't want it. Like she wanted Gabriella to come back. Why did she keep on felling this way when she was left alone? "I want to be alone. I'm glad i'm alone" she told herself. Quietly she walked down stairs.

Gabriella heard the quiet lie of Jane to herself as the other girl left as well. Her ears were sharper than humans, she could even hear the people walking around in Hogsmeade from here. "Yeah, keep telling yourself that," Gabriella whispered. She had a brief thought to go after the girl, but then realized that Jane would just treat her the same way, so it wouldn't do any good. The girl was certainly strange.
