Depression (Open)

Emily laid on the couch before the fireplace, curled into a ball and crying silently. She couldn't sleep. Ever since she had been raped by the Hogwarts Express station, whenever she closed her eyes, she went through the ordeal all over again. She was still really scared. She had stopped eating altogether, and didn't talk much anymore. She had promptly quit her job at Honeyduke's, she was too afraid to walk back to the castle in the dark by herself. Emily shifted the blanket she had brought down with her to cover her feet. The eerie green glow of the underwater common room didn't help her paranoia. It was scary. Her tears pooled on the couch, she was trembling again, but not because she was cold. Emily didn't know what to do with herself anymore.

Allison had been out late, pacing out by the Whomping Willow. She was bored, tired, but immediantly became alert when she saw Emily crying. She carefully walked over, smoothed a spot on the couch, and sat down at Emily's feet. "Em? What's wrong?"

For once, Emily was unable to open her mouth and say what was on her mind. She didn't respond. She had difficulty talking to people now, even Allison, whom she considered to be one of her friends. She rarely even spoke to Gabriella now. Emily sniffed. She wanted to tell Allison everything, but she was too afraid to. She had even rejected the opportunity to go home for the weekend, being too scared to ride the Hogwarts Express to London by herself. "S-Somebody," Emily began, shocking even herself. "Raped me." Her last sentence was probably too quiet for Allison to hear, but at least she had gotten it out.

Allison miraculously heard Emily's answer, and her best friend was in her arms in an instant. "Oh my god..." she whispered. She hugged her friend tightly, slightly shaking.

Emily allowed herself to be held by Allison, it felt good, somewhat better than Gabriella's embrace the night it had happened. Probably since her friend was warm, not that she didn't love her older sister. She was so scared and confused. Ministry owls had been bombarding her every morning at breakfast for description, and she had even had a conversation with her father via the Slytherin fireplace. He hadn't shouted at her, he had almost seemed angry at himself for that night, even though it wasn't her fault. Emily sniffed, she didn't want to keep Allison up, but she knew that she wouldn't dream of going back to bed now.

Allison hugged her friend a bit more tightly. "Its okay Em. Its okay..." she crooned, over and over again. She had kind of wanted to sleep a bit, but after hearing about this drastic news, she wouldn't dare leave her best friend alone.

No, it wasn't "okay." If anything, her life had been destroyed as she knew it! Why did people keep saying that she was "okay?" She wasn't! She doubted that she ever would be again. Zoe joined them on the couch, then licked away Emily's tears. The little cat was so sweet, even if her tongue felt like wet sandpaper. Emily gave a sob, her eyes stung, probably since she had cried them dry and then some.

Allison hugged Emily tightly. Although Allison was a Malfoy, she was never as cold-hearted as her father.... who was now locked up for using magic in front of Muggles. Allison shook the thought out of her head and continued to cradle Emily. "Don't worry Em... your safe. Your safe, that's all that matters."

Emily was sunken so deeply into her hole of depression, that she couldn't get angry at this statement. She didn't feel safe. For all she knew, she probably wasn't safe. But it didn't matter. All Emily wanted was to go back in time, stop it from happening. But when she had asked her mother about using a time-turner to do so, she had said it was impossible to do so without messing up everything else. Damn.

Allison continued to smooth Emily's tangly brown hair. She took turns smoothing the hair and massaging the shoulders, hoping desperately to sooth Emily. "Go to sleep if you can Em." she whispered softly.

"I guess I'll try to," said Emily. "I don't want to keep you up all night." She got off the couch and slowly began to make her way to the girl's dorms. She would probably just lie awake all night, as usual. But she didn't want other people suffering because of her.

Allison watched Emily go and she sighed heavily, leaning back on the couch. Her hand flew to her forehead and she sighed yet again, the cool touch soothing her. She was so tired, but she felt she should stay awake. Soon however, she drifted.

Bella passed Emily on the stairs that led to the dorms and gave her a small smile before continuing down. Poor Emily, there was some rumor going around about a guy attacking her or something like that. Nobody seemed to know the details and Bella wasn't about to ask her about it. Bella came into the common room and took the chair next to the couch, giving Allison's body a smile before staring into the fire. Either her sister was asleep, or she was about to be.
