Gabriella was halfway across the lake, but now quite tired. Between the mental battle and her lack of blood, any use of her super-human skills weared her out quickly. She swam deeper, feeling the pain in her arms now. She felt herself slowing, but tried to ignore it. Isaac couldn't catch her, could he? She took a peek behind her. Perhaps he could, the distance between them was growing smaller. Gabriella scrunched up her face and kicked harder. Couldn't he just let her go kick some seaweed or something?

Isaac was forced to stop. Some weird little horned thing had grabbed his foot. It was abnormally strong for something so small. No matter, with a light kick he crushed the thing's head against a rock, but when he turned to find Gabriella, she had gone. Isaac kicked back up to the surface. "Damn," he said under his breath.

Some strange creatures had chased Gabriella to the surface and when she rose above, she saw Isaac scanning the lake for her. He wasn't far away anymore, she must've come toward him when the creatures were chasing her. Gabriella began paddling toward the shore. She needed to get out of the water and rest. This was wearing her out.

Isaac swam after Gabriella, figuring that they should probably go inside. She looked like she needed to rest for a little while. But he was wary of suggesting that she do so. He supposed some people were just really strong-willed, as Gabriella was. When he reached the shore, Isaac pulled his wand from his robe pocket and dried himself off. He slipped back into his robes and sat on a rock, unsure of what to do.

Gabriella pulled herself out of the water, her limbs feeling even more heavy on land. Still feeling a bit angry, she dried herself off with her wand and pulled her cloak around heself, deciding to change back in her dorm. No one would be up anyway. Gabriella paused for a moment now, wondering if she should say something to Isaac.

"Um," Isaac said, getting up from his rock that he and Gabriella had sat on together so many time before. "I'll walk you up?" His final sentence sounded a bit more like a question than a statement. He didn't like Gabriella being angry with him. He was treading lightly for now. Isaac had just gotten her back, he didn't want to lose her again.

Gabriella's anger was simmering, she wasn't so mad anymore. The moment was quite awkward. "Uh, sure," she replied, almost mumbling to herself. But it didn't matter, Isaac would be able to hear her words. She began walking toward the castle, trying to make herself feel less awkward.

Isaac easily kept up, Gabriella was going a bit more slowly than normal. Whether it be because she was slowing down because she was faster than him or she hadn't had blood in awhile, Isaac was unsure. Hopefully this wouldn't drive a wedge between them...

For the first time in their relationship, the silence was truly awkward. Gabriella hated it, and she wanted to say something, but she couldn't really find words at the moment. Her legs felt like lead, she could barely keep them steady. But she was managing, she always did.

Isaac felt very awkward, he didn't like the silence, but he was unsure of how to break it. He hated fighting with Gabriella, it just made him feel horrible, as if he had just kicked a puppy or something. Isaac gently bit his lip.

It was now a brutal battle to keep her own feet in line and Gabriella was fearing that she was about to lose. She was right, her right leg slipped awkwardly out from underneath her. "Ow," she whispered as she caught herself.

Isaac was instantly closer to his girlfriend, being the protective person that he was. He was ready to catch her, in case that she would fall. He dug his teeth even more furiously into his lower lip, biting into it again. He released and the wounds mending themselves rather quickly.

Gabriella saw the look in Isaac's eyes and noticed that he had gotten closer again, ready to protect her. She took a tiny step away, concentrating on keeping her steps straight again. She vowed to herself that she wouldn't slip up again. At least he hadn't grabbed her or anything.

Of course, her nonverbal communication said it all. Isaac might not have been the brightest light bulb in the box, but he knew what that meant. Back off, don't be over-baring, she wants to handle it herself. So Isaac did so, walking at a short distance from Gabriella, still ready to catch her if she would fall.

Curse the stairs, Gabriella thought as she climbed the first few flights. Why the Gryffindor common had to be on the seventh floor was beyond her, but right now she completely hated it. Lucky Isaac, he only had to go down a bit to get to the dungeons.
