Midnight Ponderings (Open)

Isaac had walked up to the owlery alone. It was well past curfew, but he was bored of laying in his bed, pretending to be asleep, now that slumber was no longer within his capabilities. It was still hard to believe that his father hadn't been able to bribe his way out of getting a five-year sentence to Azkaban. But whatever. Isaac didn't doubt for a second that he deserved it. But that was far from his mind at the moment. Although Christmas was a ways away, he still had to pluck up the courage to propose to Gabriella. There was nobody else he wanted to be with. She was perfect to him. And now his father wouldn't be able to get in the way of them being together. In five years they could be married and have kids... Wait, were vampires fertile? What if Gabriella was barren? Isaac supposed that didn't matter, they could always adopt if they wanted kids. The owlery door creaked open and Isaac looked over his shoulder only to see...

Gabriella herself, holding a few owl treats that she wasn't really paying much attention to. She tossed them at her favorite owls, watching them catch the treats in their beaks. Then Gabriella turned to Isaac, who had been there all along. "Hey Isaac, how are you?" Gabriella asked, coming up to him and giving him a gentle hug.

"Hey gorgeous," Isaac greeted, gladly accepting the hug from his girlfriend. "I'm doing great. My father got sent to Azkaban for a full five years." He was on top of the world, nothing could stop them now. Anything could happen. It was a wonderful feeling.

Gabriella smiled, but made a funny face with her nose. It was so sad that Isaac's father was a Death Eater and refused to see his son for what he was. Then again, it was quite good that Draco Malfoy was no longer threatening Isaac's life. "Well, that's a good thing, isn't it?" Gabriella replied, releasing him from her hug.

"Yes, a very good thing." said Isaac. He was tempted to ask the question right then and there, the suspense was killing him slowly from the inside. But he refrained, he was going to wait until Christmas, no questions asked. "Yeah, apparently he was cheating on my Mum with a muggle, got stoned and did magic in front of his mistress and a bunch of her friends." Isaac said.

Gabriella frowned. That was quite horrible, worse than she had expected, actually. She felt sorry for Isaac, growing up with a dad like that. At least her dad was faithful and didn't do anything stupid outside his home. But at least Draco was locked up and couldn't hurt him, hopefully. "Well, at least it looks like we're safe from him for a while, then," Gabriella replied, putting a smile back on her pale face.

"I'm not sure if "safe" is the right word, "completely relieved" might be a better term." said Isaac with a chuckle. It was great to imagine his dad in chains in a dark and dripping cell, without any of the luxuries he was used to. "Now, Miss Weasley, might I ask, how are you?" Isaac asked.

Gabriella rolled her eyes once more at the "Miss Weasley" thing that Isaac always did. "You better stop calling me that," Gabriella teased lightly. "But actually, I am doing pretty good. I finished all of my homework before midnight and was planning on hunting some deer after I said hi to the owls."

"Good," said Isaac. He had been a bit concerned about Gabriella, and how hesitant she was to drink blood. It was like she had difficulty accepting what she was now. Perhaps that had been why she was so tired the last time they had spent an evening together. "I should probably go hunting too," Isaac said.

Gabriella smiled at this. "We should go together then, shouldn't we?" Gabriella asked, grabbing his hand in hers. If he said yes, which Gabriella guessed he would, this would be a very fun night. Much better than hunting by herself.

"But of course, my love." Isaac said with a small smile. Perhaps they could just jump out the window as he had done once. It had been fun, feeling cat-like and landing lightly upon his feet. This seemed promising, an entire evening with Gabriella.

"Alright, sounds fabulous," Gabriella replied, a wide grin on her face. "So would you prefer running down the stairs or jumping out the window today?" Gabriella glanced in both directions as she spoke, not really sure which one she favored at the moment. Probably the window. She had never jumped from the high out of the castle before. Trees were a little different.

"I prefer jumping myself, it's faster." said Isaac. And he loved the sensation, falling down to the ground, wind whistling in his ears, and then landing lightly on his feet, like a cat would land on all fours. "But whatever you want to do is fine with me." Isaac added.

"Let's go for it," Gabriella replied. She lightly took his hand, pulled him along to the window and then stood in the frame. "On the count of three!" Gabriella exclaimed, mentally preparing herself for the whistling of wind. She squeezed his hand tighter in excitement. "One, two...!"

"Three." Isaac whispered, bent his knees and jumped. It was a good thing that they were both vampires, Gabriella might have crushed his hand by now if he was a human. The wind rushed through his hair, a million smells ran past him. A small smile of pleasure spread across Isaac's lips.
