Jacob slid his jacket and handed it to Ariana. He kicked the soccerball into the air and caught it. "So how recent was your stay in the muggle world?" He asked. He was hoping maybe she had run across some of his friends.

Ariana gratefully took his jacket. She slid her arms into the jacket. It was already warm from being worn by Jacob. She held it tight against her body to conserve heat. "I just got back yesterday. I had some things to...sort out" She said as casually as she could muster. She wanted to tell him what had happened, but then again she had only just met him. She sighed as they climbed up the castle steps.

Jacob opened the doors for Ariana. "What about school work?" He asked, closing the door behind them. They climbed up the grand staircase. They went into the empty classroom. He sat down on a desk and kicked the ball against the wall.

Ariana slid off his jacket and handed it to him. "I ran away, school doesn't matter to me right now" She found herself saying. She bit her lip. She never had been so truthful with anyone before. She closed her eyes as her head hurt. She reached into her pocket and pulled out some muggle pain killer. She took two tablets and put the bottle away.

Jacob thought about all the times he had tried to run away, but it hadn't worked out to well. His parents with "expectations" always got ahold of him. "Why would you run away, you got it great" He brought his knees up to his chin and wrapped his arms around his legs, watching Ariana carefully.

Ariana wrinkled her nose. "Engaged cousin, Vampire cousin, perfect Werewolf sister, they all got it great. They do everything perfectly. One is getting married to an amazing guy, the other has two guys fighting over her. My sister is my parent's favorite. She is smart, pretty, has an amazing boyfriend. I'm the black sheep. How am I supposed to live up to my father's name?" Ariana found herself crying into her hands. That was why she had run away. Her shoulders shook as she cried.

Jacob didn't know how to handle girls crying. He pulled her hands away from her face. "That's not true and you know it!" He scolded her gently. He wiped away her tears gently. "Now think about that. How bad must it be to be a Vampire or a Werewolf? Think about how much you're sister must try to live up to expectations, she's older than you. More is expected from her." He was running out of things to say to make her stop crying. God, why were girls so emotional sometimes. "Who's you're dad anyway?" He asked when her tears had finally stopped falling.

Ariana sniffed and wiped away her tears. She let out a shuddery breath, calming her nerves. She thought about what he was saying for a moment. "I guess..." She sighed, leaning into Jacob. She closed her eyes, when she opened them her cheeks were tight from dried tears. "My dad is Harry Potter" She gave a feeble smile.

Jacob nodded, wrapping an arm around Ariana. He didn't have anything left to say. He was out of words. He found himself stroking her black hair absentmindedly. He pulled his arm away when he was sure she wouldn't break into tears again.

Ariana couldn't help but enjoy the feel of Jacob's arm around her. She let out a breath, and smelt the firewhiskey from lastnight. She closed her mouth quickly. She breathed through her nose. She laid her head on Jacob's shoulder. "What's your life like?" She asked, glancing at his lip rings.

Jacob tugged on one of his lip rings in contemplation. "I'm a slipping rebel who is a great dissapointment to his parents, that's about it" He smiled slightly. He had the shreds of his latest Howler in his pocket right now.

"Sounds like me" Ariana smiled slightly. She stretched and stood up. It was well past curphew and she really needed sleep. She kicked the soccer ball toward Jacob. "I got to go. Someone is bound to be looking for me since I came back" She walked toward the door.

Jacob bit his lip. "I can at least walk you back to your dorm, can't I?" He asked with a teasing smile. He picked up the soccer ball and opened the door for her. "So what did you do for a month in the muggle world?" He prodded.

"Got a job, went to school" She shrugged. "And why do you ask so many questions?" She asked with a teasing smile. Arianna felt unsettlement whenever she was with Jacob. Normally, she was smooth and confident with every boy. Jacob was different, in a good way. Ariana bit her lip. "You can read minds, can't you?" She asked at the smirk on Jacob's face.

Jacob scanned her thoughts and laughed. "Maybe..." He smiled. "What, you can't read my mind?" He asked. "Well I suppose that is a good thing..." He trailed off. The fact he really liked Ariana made him wonder what she would think if she heard his thoughts.
