It was starting to get late, but Katrya had yet to entertain the thought of going to bed. Not only was she overloaded with homework, but she would also be staying up as long as it took Stephen Flint to get back to the Ravenclaw common room. Katrya had been sitting there most of the day, waiting for the seventh year to come.

It wasn't that Katrya knew him or particularly wanted to have a conversation with Stephen, but she felt that he had a right to know a bit of information that she had experienced a vision about the previous evening. It had been brief, but Katrya had come to the understanding that Rue Davies was pregnant by way of Stephen. Not really knowing what else to do, Katrya had decided to confront Stephen.

She attempted to read her Herbology text book, looking up every time she heard a noise to see if it was Stephen coming into the common room. Katrya sighed slightly; feeling ridiculous. At long last, she shut her textbook and put her things down on the table, glancing into the fire. Studying at this point was pretty much useless; Katrya was far too agitated. At last there was a noise from the entrance to the commons. Katrya turned her body quickly toward the door.

Stephen entered the commons, his tie loosened from a long day. He had been in the library studying intesively for the upcoming NEWT exams, that was until the librarian had shooed him out. He had been starting to doubt the wisdom behind taking so many classes, but he now knew that in about a month he would be free of them. Stephen was surprised to find he wasn't alone in the common room, there was a sixth year there- Katrya her name was- they shared a few classes. Stephen nodded in greeting to her, with every intention of going straight up to bed without much conversation, he was tired.

Katrya stood quickly when Stephen entered the common room. "Stephen," she said, her voice a little bit sharper than she would have liked. Katrya had tried numerous times to plan out what she was going to say, but had never come up with anything good. Now she was wishing that she at least had some sort of a plan. "Um, I've got to tell you something." Katrya bit her lip after she spoke, nervously adjusting the bottom of her shirt.

Stephen had been about to go up to his dormitory, but when Katrya called his name he paused, turned, and then took a few steps closer to her. He wondered what on earth she wanted, but judging by the expression on her face it was something important. He adjusted the position of his bag on his shoulder. "Yes?" asked Stephen.

Katrya bit her lip again, not wanting to say what she knew she would end up telling Stephen. "Um, you're dating Rue Davies, right?" she asked slowly, for a moment hoping that it wasn't true and that she had misinterpreted her vision. But Katrya thought the clues had been rather obvious and she didn't often misinterpret things; not know what the heck was going on yes, get the message wrong no. So Katrya knew she would have to tell Stephen that Rue was pregnant.

"Yes, why do you ask?" said Stephen, eyebrow arched. The moment seemed ratehr awkward to him, it didn't make much sense why she would be asking. It wasn't exactly common knowledge that he and Rue were an item, although it was bound to slip out at some point. Stephen did, however, know vaguely of Katrya's gift with divination. Had the sixth year Seen something involving Rue? Stephen suddenly didn't feel very tired.

"Well, um," Katrya said, stuttering slightly. It was always awkward revealing something that she had Seen in a vision, but this was more so than any other before. Katrya mentally told herself to just get on with it; it would be better once she got the words out of her mouth. "Well, Rue's pregnant," she blurted. "And you're the father." Katrya bit her lip, not knowing how Stephen would react, though she guessed he would probably freak out.

Stephen immediately took a step backwards, eyes wide. "What?" said Stephen, although he had heard Katrya perfectly clearly. A million thoughts bombarded his head all at once. Rue was pregnant? They had only slept together that one time, surely it wasn't true? Every fibre of his being wanted it to be false, but he knew that the sixth year was dead serious. "Oh Christ, this can't be happening right now," Stephen muttered to himself, immediately beginning to pace while kneading his forehead with his knuckles, "I'm so stupid! Why on earth, argh...."

Katrya stood awkwardly as Stephen began to pace. She had expected a reaction like this out of him, but now that it had come, Katrya had no idea what to do. "I'm sorry," she said, not knowing what else to say to a boy whom she had just told his girlfriend was pregnant. Katrya couldn't help but feel sorry for him, clearly he had no intentions for anything like this to happen.

"I'm so stupid!" Stephen repeated yet again under his breath, his pacing becoming even faster. He dug his teeth into his lip a moment, only then awaree of the fact that he was no longer tired from a long day of classes and studying until the last minute. Some prefect he was, knocing up his girlfriend- what an example for the other students! His mother was going to kill him when she found out... "I've really fucked up," muttered Stephen, barely paying any attention to the fact that Katrya was there, "Argh, I've ruined everything."

Katrya bit her lip, not quite knowing what to say to Stephen's verbal abuse of himself. "If it helps, I have a feeling you'll be alright," Katrya piped up at last, doubting this would do much to reassure Stephen, but it was all she had to say for the moment. Hopefully Rue and Stephen would figure something out. Katrya could already see wisps of decisions in her Inner Eye.

Stephen suddenly snapped out of all the thoughts inundating his head and looked at Katrya when she spoke. How on earth was everything going to be all right? He had pretty much ruined everything for Rue. This wasn't supposed to happen, they were barely dating, they weren't supposed to be starting a family yet. Life was suddenly seeming much more serious to him. "All right?" Stephen said incredulously, "I've gone and ruined everything for Rue, this wasn't supposed to happen, not now. She's smart, she had so much going for her..." He paused and plopped down on the couch, momentarily holding his head in his hands. "And I've just completely destroyed her life."

Katrya shrugged; obviously the thought hadn't yet occurred to Stephen. "Maybe, maybe not," she said, sitting down in the chair where her things were once more. She waited, hoping Stephen would figure it out soon- Katrya didn't particularly like revealing any possible futures to other people, she felt like they could interfere with decision-making.

Stephen, going with his better judgement, did not respond. Anything that he might be able to say sounded just plain rude, and he wasn't really the kind of person to lash out like that. He bit his lip, just like that his entire life had been turned upside down. But then he thought of Rue, what she must be feeling, if she even knew yet. That was an odd thing to think about, but Stephen was too overwhelmed to think on it very much. He held his head in his hands again, muttering to himself.

Katrya decided that perhaps it was best to let Stephen get over his shock without any further comments, so she turned toward the fire. She didn't want to seem rude by continuing her homework, but Katrya didn't want Stephen to think she was staring at him either. Out of the corner of her eye, Katrya glanced at her fellow Ravenclaw. She could hear his mutterings, though the words were indistinguishable. Katrya felt sorry for the poor boy, he had not been expecting anything like that.
