Isaac followed his wife's gaze with her own eyes, stopping at the same places she did. The foyer really was a nice area, it just needed some touching up. A new coat or two of paint, cleaning the chandelier... As Isaac looked down a noised outside that he might not have normally noticed caused him to flinch violently. In doing so he squeezed Gabriella's hand a bit harder than he might have normally, but figured that she would be able to handle it.

Gabriella couldn't help but cry out when Isaac squeezed her hand. She could hear the crack of bones and instinctively tried to pull her hand back, which helped nothing. "Shit!," Gabriella yelled, freeing her hand at last. She hadn't realized that her strength had left her until that moment and knew that now Isaac would certainly have questions.

Isaac jumped yet again once he heard the cracking of bones, and that it had come from his wife's hand. He took a few steps back- if he still had a pulse it would most likely be racing at that moment. What was going on with his wife? But as usual his words failed him, but Isaac's eyes portrayed his confusion and fear well enough. Isaac's mind was jumping to all sorts of terrible conclusions, each of them as unlikely as the next, but he needed to know. "What's going on with you?" asked Isaac, tone as slow and void of emotion as always.

Gabriella held her hand gingerly as she reached for her wand. She would rather repair the bones with magic than wait for her venom to kick in. She didn't want the bones get stuck in the wrong place. She did the spell silently to fix her hand then turned back to Isaac. Gabriella took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant," she said without hesitation. Gabriella knew she couldn't keep avoiding the subject forever, plus Isaac had a right to know, even if she hadn't wanted him to find out like this.

Isaac took a few more steps backward at the news, he wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Gabriella was pregnant? They had agreed to wait a while before having children- he wasn't exactly comfortable bringing a child into the world while there was still such a strong hatred toward what they were. His mind was racing, this wasn't supposed to be happening right now. Isaac ran a hand through his hair, seemingly unable to process what was going on. After a long, awkward pause, Isaac's brain finally connected to his feet and he promptly walked back outside without a word to his wife. He needed to think, the fresh air would help.

Whatever Gabriella had been expecting Isaac to do, that hadn't been it. She was left, gaping as the door shut behind him. Gabriella ran a hand through her hair, now completely confused as to what she was supposed to do. She felt overwhelmed and unbelievably alone. The worst thing was that Isaac hadn't even said anything. Gabriella felt the sudden need to break something, but, clenching her fists, she headed upstairs instead. She had to figure out something to do, but she had no idea what that might be.

Isaac didn't go very far, only to the edge of the woods where he and Gabriella had just found their meal. He climbed the thickest tree at the forest's edge, and nestled himself comfortably on a branch about halfway up. Isaac leaned against the trunk, biting his lip as he thought about what was going on. Truth be told, he was scared, this was a lot different than finding out about Xavier. But at least his son was human, he wouldn't face prejudice, or even people wanting to kill him for what he was.

Gabriella paced the hallway upstairs, running her hands through her hair every so often as she tried to think of something she could do. When she discovered that her mind was unusually blank, Gabriella just felt sad instead of angry as she had earlier. She found herself suddenly in the corner room. Gabriella ventured over to the big bay window and sat herself on the seat. She curled herself into a ball, feeling stranger than ever. She was going to have a baby. It was a surreal sort of feeling.

Isaac allowed himself to lose track of the time as he stayed in his perch, the world seemingly unmoving around him. There wasn't even a breeze to accompany the otherwise comfortable summer night, everything was still, quiet. It was completely dark by the time Isaac came to the conclusion that no matter how long he stayed in the tree it wasn't going to change his wife's pregnancy, and that he might as well be there for Gabriella, especially since he was so hard to get along with at the moment. He was going to have another child, and that was the end of it. Isaac jumped down from his tree and walked back to the house. He followed his wife's scent upstairs and to the room where she had situated herself. He paused in the doorway, expression apologetic, but didn't say a word.

The sobs had long passed and Gabriella was staring out the window into the dark when she heard Isaac's footsteps coming up the stairs to find her. It had taken him a long time, but at last he had come back. Gabriella had been able to smell his scent the moment he had entered the gigantic house. She could tell he was in the doorway, but for a moment she didn't turn around, too upset to know what she was going to say. At last she turned her head to see the apologetic expression on Isaac's face. For some reason, this sparked a small bit of anger within Gabriella. "What?" she asked, her voice sounding slightly more irritated than usual.

Isaac took a half step back as Gabriella snapped rather harshly at him. He was extremely sensitive to anger of others these days, he feared it. He was practically frightened by his own shadow, small noises made him flinch. "Sorry," Isaac said quietly, "I shouldn't have run off." He shoved his hands into his pockets, in the back of his mind realizing that was the most complete sentence he had uttered in months.

Gabriella immediately felt bad as Isaac flinched. She bit her lip slightly. "No, you shouldn't have," she said, her tone much more calm this time, though she had to force herself to make it so. Gabriella uncurled herself and placed her feet on the floor once more, though she remained on the window seat, waiting to see if Isaac would say anything more.

Isaac remained quiet, watching Gabriella as if she might spring and attack him if he made a sudden move. He mentally told himself to stop being so paranoid, his wife wouldn't bring him harm. Isaac walked over to the window seat, and carefully seated himself beside Gabriella, biting his lip momentarily. "Boy or girl?" Isaac asked slowly after a long pause.

Gabriella slid over slightly so that Isaac had more room on the seat. She sighed at his question. "I don't know," she said at last. "Normal sorts of magic for figuring that stuff out don't work as well for us." Gabriella had already tried a few sorts of tests, but with mixed results. She supposed she could ask Raychel if there was a way of determining the baby's gender, but at the moment Gabriella figured it was less important than the fact that she was having a child.

Isaac only nodded in response. He had figured that magic wouldn't work the same way on them as it would on a human, it only made sense. He kept quiet, as if he felt that he had spoken enough for a day. Isaac once again took his wife's hand, wishing that he had something to say, but found his tongue to be tied. He bit his lip once more, frowning.
