Xiu, in doing what she always did, had taken on extra hours at the restaurant that summer in order to keep herself occupied and have a little extra gold in her own pocket. Sure, she wasn't spending quite as much time home as she would have liked, but Xiu did enjoy working. But she hadn't taken a closing shift in quite some time, it made her nervous to be out alone after dark these days. She was just thankful that at seventeen she could apparate instead of having to commute by train.
Xiu sighed as she drummed her fingers on the counter, there was a bit of a lull in business of late, but who wanted to get hot coffee or tea in the middle of one of the worst heat waves the UK had seen in years? She was quite surprised, however, when the bell above the door rang. Eager to at least do something, Xiu snatched up her pad of paper and quill, and then turned to greet...
