Nix turned away from her essay and turned herself towards the barmaid before taking a deep breath and then breathing out and speaking again ,"have you ever lost someone? Someone you really cared about and someone who really cared about you? Someone who saved you from being lonely and isolated?" she asked in a quick breath. She knew she wasn't the only one but she also know that different people coped with things differently and she wanted to see how an adult would have dealt in her situation.

She was years off being an adult of course but she knew if would be a small comfort to know how to really cope or how others did things, it would be kind of like asking her mothers advice again. She just hoped that be barmaid hadn't lost anyone too important and that by her asking, she had offended her or upset her with memories she would rather forget

Elizabeth felt slightly taken aback, she had thought that the girl would inquire something more along the lines of help with homework, like how to properly stew lacewings for a particular potion, or the process in which someone would transfigure something inanimate into something animate. She thought a moment, the feathers that had made the duster on the end of her wand fell out as she had had her train of thought taken away from maintaining the charm. She really did need to work on that, it would make the charm much more practical so the user wouldn't have to think about it the whole time.

"Maybe not in that way," said Elizabeth, "but I went through a very nasty divorce." She paused a moment, reflecting on her feelings for Joseph. Ever since he had vented his anger on their sons Elizabeth had had nothing but hatred toward him, but before that, when the abuse had only been on her... Elizabeth had been dependent on him, loved him more than anything. "It was like losing him," Elizabeth said quietly, "but at that point I don't think I knew who he was anymore." Elizabeth wondered why she even said this, she never talked about the divorce, the reasons behind it were too painful.

Nix tilted her head to one side and then slowly processed the information that the older woman gave her, she had never trusted or cared about someone aside her family to even think of the pain that she imagined a divorce was like. She had always been alone so only after meeting Tain and joining his family, so she had taken ages to learn to trust them so meeting and trusting someone else was just an odd idea to her.

"I can't imagine that, I'm sorry for your lose" nix said in a small voice before lifting her head up again and then she gave a small smile ,"I was only asking because my "mother" died last week and was buried today. They didn't want me to worry so didn't tell me until she was buried, they were right to Seeing as i didn't take it well but I would have liked to have known before" nix explained in a weak voice before jabbing her brownie with her fork again and taking another bit from jt
