"You continue to confuse me," Nat murmured to herself, smiling slightly. "Few things confuse me," she admitted. She leant against the cool stone wall. She thought about what he said.
"Let's hope," she repeated. She sighed, running a hand through her messy hair. "How long have you had that codex?" she nodded towards where he had pocketed the parchment. He seemed to treasure those papers with a value she couldn't understand.

"I'm sorry I confuse you. This codex I have had since I was six. Never stopped writing. I get advice from my codex, remimds me of things I need to." Raug said his hand hovering over the pocket, as if not even trutsing the papers to his coat.

Nat watched the papers curiously. She had always believed very few materialistic things should hold a great presedence in a person's life. Books had always been the exception. Books should always have presedence. It was clear this codex to Raug as books were to herself.
"That's rather handy," she commented. "Even Ivy seems to understand the importance"

"Ivy knows what it does, but has no more interest in it then my grandfather did. It is more then handy." Raug hands the codex to Nat. "Ask it your name." Raug was trying to prove the great and vast knowledge the pieces of parchment held.

Nat took the parchment carefully, staring at the seemingly blank pages. She glanced at him, shocked. She had never thought one would speak with a materialistic object. "What's my name?" She said, bring her gaze back to the codex, waiting with baited breath.

Information began to appear on the pages. Name, appearance, even her favorite subject. "Feel free to add anything you want. It shares my love of all." Raug held out a quill and ink fountain. "Any information is welcome," Raug smiled," any at all."

"That's unbelievable," she whispered in awe. She had never seen such a thing. It was fascinating. She took the quill, wide-eyed as she thought of something she could write about herself. Descriptions of herself always played on her insecurities.
She filled in the basics; Muggleborn, first year, Ravenclaw. What she wrote next shocked her.
Afraid of water she scribbled. She'd never admitted it aloud. Not after growing up and Giovanni having almost drowned her in a secluded lake in Italy. She still had night terrors of her lungs burning, her vision blurring. She handed it back to him, returning the smile. She hadn't seen him smile to often.
Pity, it fit him.

Raug glanced at the parchment to see scribbles unwinding into something, Later he thought. Raug retied the peices of parchment with the peice of leather and stopped.
"This brother of yours..." Raug stopped, uncertain of whether or not to help her a great deal.

Nat's gaze snapped back to him. She swallowed slightly. She really shouldn't bother hiding these things. But she felt deep humiliation. It felt her feeling less than a person. Most humans don't do the things Giovanni did without a good reason...Nat just didn't know what that reason was.
"Yes?" She asked openly. Someone like this would tell her nothing but the truth in a situation such as this. That's what Nat needed.

"It needs to stop. Now. It will interfere with your studies if nothing else."
Raug stumbled through the next words. "If you need help," Raug unfurled a single sheet," tell the codex. It tells me what I need to know."
Raug felt out of character. He never would have given part of the codex to anyone, unless it was of utter importance.

Nat felt the importance and seriousness of the situation. She was touched. She smiled, the fact that it may interfere with her perfect marks had never occurred to her. That terrified her the most. She took the paper gratefully. She didn't know how it worked fully, but it left her feeling safe, a feeling seldom felt.
"Grazie," her native tongue slipped out on accident. "If there is ever anything I can do to return the favor..." She didn't know how she could ever return such a favor. She was gladly in his debt.

"Take notes in it during class. What you learn I can and vice versa if you so choose. Anything written is forever kept."
Raug felt happy. Quite unusual, he usually never felt emotion. His most remembered emotion was his love for information. Now he had helped- or tried to help someone. Something he had only once done before.

Nat nodded, rolling the parchment carefully as she slipped it into the concealed pocket of her robes. She felt an odd comfort with the material by her side. She grinned.
"Are you by any chance good in mathematics?" She asked hopefully.

"I'm alright. Not the best. It doesn't interest me as alchemy does. Or divination, or potions, care of mythological creatures."
These things are what were stored in both the codex and Raugs memory. His favorite subjects he knew much about. That he could learn so much in. Wonderfull Raug thought smiling.

"You seem so dynamic. Thanks, again, for the codex," she grinned. She pulled the court papers from her pocket, pulling a quill out along with it. Signing her name, she tied the papers, turning to one of the schools Tawny owls, she handed it the papers.
"Erik Truelove," she stroked the feathered head as the bird hooted gently, before flapping into the early morning. Nat sighed, feeling as if an enormous weight had been pulled from her chest today.
"You ever miss your grandfather?" She asked, running a hand absently through her hair.
