Amadeus' breath came out in white puffs like steam as he stepped onto the pitch that early Sunday morning. It was barely six, and thus still dark, but it meant that he would be alone. It seemed that was all that Amadeus wanted of late, he didn't want to be bothered, he didn't want to talk to anyone. He had even been ignoring people he previously considered to be his friends. Amadeus detested their sympathy, they very well did not know what it was like to have lost a sister. Not in such a devastating way, being murdered like that. He could still scarcely imagine it, the fright Ascella must have felt with her last few breaths...
Amadeus shoved those thoughts from his head, he hated thinking about that. Though all the same, she had not passed peacefully in her sleep. It had been murder. Biting his lip, Amadeus swung his leg over his broom and kicked off hard against the ground. He, of late, had been coming to the pitch early every morning. Not to practice seeking like his peers believed, but just to fly around. Amadeus found it kept his head clear, made it easier to face each day. And really, it wasn't a bad habit.
He lazily flew around the pitch, the frigid air slightly stinging at the back of his throat. Amadeus allowed his mind to wander, loosing all track of the time. In fact, he was only drawn out of this state when he noticed the sun had risen, or perhaps it was the fact that there was someone else nearby...

Kamilia had always found herself at home on the Quidditch pitch. Unlike her siblings, she had taken up her father's legacy from a young age, and it only added to the confidence in her walk. Especially in winter, where the sky was practically alive with the cold. There were times when she was in the air that she could feel herself leave her body, that feeling of bliss that came with the perfect flying, the spins, loops, and every trick her father had shown her. The icy air only quickened how fast she could leave her body, watching herself dance elegantly through the air.
She hadn't expected another person to feel the same way. She looked up at the Slytherin, simply flying. Nothing. No intricate moves. No style. No speed. She groaned at the mere sight of it, shifting the smooth wood of her broom to her other hand, leaning against it as she watched. Finally he saw her there, watching. She recognized the obscenely blond hair as one of the Malfoys, but she never had a bone to pick with them, and was one of the few in her house that felt that way.
"I've seen you fly better than that," she called out to him. She'd never missed a Quidditch game since they were here, but she had yet to convince her mum to allow her to try out for the house team. She was somehow convinced that her being the youngest made her incapable of holding onto a broom.

Amadeus instantly felt annoyed when he heard the sound of someone calling out to him, some pretentious girl saying she had seen him fly better than what he was doing presently. He didn't come here in the mornings to practice, this was simply time for himself, to clear his head and calm himself to be able to make it through the day. And this definitely was not was Amadeus needed to do that. Hence why he came down so early in the mornings. Hell, the sun hadn't even gone more than halfway above the horizon, he had expected that he would be alone. Amadeus stopped, narrowing his eyes at the girl.
He recognized her straightaway, who wouldn't? She was Victor Krum's kid, her father was just as famous as his own. Though she was a Hufflepuff, and therefore worthless in his opinion. Though lately Amadeus couldn't be bothered to mock and knock down his peers, not anymore. It did not give him the joy it once did, it seemed almost pointless now, like it wasn't worth his time. "I don't fly to please you," Amadeus said coldly. He wanted to snap at her, tell her to clear off before he used whatever hex he thought of first, though decided against it.
Though really, she was trying his temper by simply being there and making that solitary remark. This was Amadeus' time, and she was spoiling it with her existence.

Kamilia straightened as he noticed her. If looks could kill, she'd have died at least three times. Yes, she figured the arrogant Malfoy child would manage cold looks like that. Although she could see a thousand of his famous bitter remarks there, but none came. She raised an eyebrow in both impress and shock at the self control. Either he couldn't be bothered with her, which she figured couldn't be the case, or even one of the big Malfoys was down. The best he came up with was "I don't fly to please you." She almost wanted to scoff. Almost. Witty comebacks had always been a favorite thing of hers, but that wasn't witty. Just icy.
"No," she nodded, trying not to throw her own back. "But you fly for yourself," she pointed out. Perhaps flying and music were the few topics she didn't get catty and superior about. Not with people who were actually as good as her, at least. "Hovering probably won't do much to clear your head. Flying will," she finally realized she didn't really care. But something in her made her HATE that someone would take flying for granted. Especially one that only used it to add to his swollen ego.

Amadeus wondered what it was about stupid second year girls that kept annoying him so much. Or perhaps he was just generalizing things, at the moment it was only the mudblood Natalia Castel, and now the Krum girl that were getting under his skin. To Amadeus it seemed nobody was getting the vibe that he wanted to be left alone. Really, the only person he did not mind the company of was Ariadne, though she had already graduated, leaving him quite alone indeed within the Hogwarts walls. And that was the way that Amadeus liked it, at least at that moment. He liked attention, though he detested pity, he needed to mourn in peace.
"As much as I appreciate the overtly obvious statement, I had already figured that out for myself," Amadeus said testily. He returned to flying, purposefully not doing anything fancy, just circling around the pitch like a vulture- though at a much faster pace, utilizing the speed that his Thunderbolt had been manufactured for. If the Krum girl knew what was good for her, she wouldn't bother him again, though Amadeus didn't see that being likely- Hufflepuffs were annoying that way.

Kamilia almost had to laugh at the spiteful attitude. How draining it must be on the over-dramatic, moping boy. The comment did draw a small giggle out of her. She quieted it, watching his circles. How much energy he invested in attempting to bring her down. She was flattered at the attention. She did the same to many of her lesser peers, but they weren't worth the energy it took to be as dark and dramatic as he was. She sighed. Waste your natural gift, she thought to herself before mounting her broom.
She kicked from the ground, soaring into the icy biting sky. The Malfoy boy faded from her view as she began with the simple turns and twists her father had given her as warm up. A warm up that was beyond the talents of many in her school. Her father had taught her to never shy away from pride, and it showed as her small form zipped through the winter sky. She slowed slightly, realizing she hang entered the feeling she knew all too well. She frowned. What was stopping her? Her gaze landed on the miserable Slyterin and she narrowed her eyes bitterly.
"Could you take your self pity and drama elsewhere?" She called, finally fed up. He was on her field Normally, she wouldn't mind, but now with his pissy attitude, it was throwing of her training. She couldn't afford distractions.

Amadeus urged his broom faster, continuing in the large circle as if it were some sort of race track- though he wasn't racing against anyone but himself. It allowed his mind to finally slow down, stop, even. His thoughts were usually so prevalent, to the point where they kept him up at night, but now he was allowed to go into blissful nothingness, turn off the surprisingly deep thoughts. That was something his peers did not understand, Amadeus was not only in mourning, but at the tender age of fourteen dealing with thoughts of human mortality, a sinking feeling in knowing that one day he would die- and it might be sooner than he thought.
Normal fourteen-year-olds did not have to deal with these sorts of ponderings, then again normal sixteen-year-olds weren't murder victims in a case that was growing very cold indeed. But Amadeus wasn't thinking about that right now, really, he wasn't thinking about anything. Nothing but the speed at which he was traveling and the wind whipping through his hair. This was all ruined when the Krum girl spoke at him again- he stopped, glaring at her with ice in his steely grey eyes.
"Perhaps you can take your pretentious bitchiness elsewhere," Amadeus said, tone reflecting the anger and annoyance he felt. How dare she do that? And after all, he had been there first. Amadeus wasn't about to go anywhere, not until he was good and ready- and definitely not at some lousy Hufflepuff's suggestion. Not a chance.

Kamilia had to laugh at that. Although she was annoyed, she wasn't at the point of pure hatred it seemed that boy felt for most everyone. She straightened on her broom, grinning at the irony. "So I'm the pretentious bitch?" She scoffed. "At least I have something worth being pretentious about," she threw back, wondering how bitchy she really had to be before he realized he ought to back down. To some, like the arrogant and spoiled Malfoy, it was just a title for popularity and an ego booster. To her, it was her life.
She hadn't been so lucky as her siblings to inherit the Veela blood. She couldn't charm her way through every situation. She favored her father's strong Bulgarian looks, and had to work for everything. Work brought pride. Not breeding. She could be like every other kid who had a famous parent, gliding by, but she was going to earn her way, and she wasn't about to let anyone, even a Malfoy, block her from her path. She followed his slowed circles, flying by his side, as to make sure he heard every word, and understood she wasn't going to back off like the other weaklings he probably shoved around.

Amadeus wondered why he simply couldn't be left alone, was it so much to ask to have the Quidditch pitch to himself for an hour or two before the day started? No, not today, that stupid Hufflepuff girl had to be there taking up his space. And that annoyed him more than anything else. He had half a mind to hex her, though he knew he couldn't afford to jeopardize his position on the Slytherin team the month before the final match of the season. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that they would flatten Ravenclaw, they had been performing pitifully all season. Though now his mind wasn't on the upcoming match.
"Really?" said Amadeus, "please spare me whatever it is, and leave me the hell alone." And now she was following him. Really this morning could not be going any worse. He made a mental note to himself to wake up an hour earlier, so that way he could have his time in the morning and be gone before the Krum girl would be there. But as for now, Amadeus was going to remain stubborn, he would not set a toe of the pitch until the hour he had allotted for himself was expired.

Kamilia was a bit shocked. Had she heard the word please leave the bastard's mouth? She paused, hanging back. The day a Malfoy said please. She had this pitch most every morning. Why was she bothering to give it up now? Something was throwing her. Perhaps how pitiful he really was. She shrugged, sinking to the ground. For a moment, a boiling insult about his sister came to her lips, but she thought better. She didn't have her wand on her, when she knew the rash fool would definitely hex her. She began her trek back through the snow, biting on her lip to keep the brutal comments to herself. She had never been one to trash other teams, even though she wasn't an official part of the team. She wouldn't be playing until next year, but the seeker position was as good as hers. She looked back to him. She was going to love knocking him off of his broom and into his place. She gave final signature hair-flip, before marching through the snow back to the castle, ready to find a Ravenclaw to do her homework.

Amadeus could hardly believe it, there was no retort to his harsh phrase, no witty comeback that he really didn't have the patience for. In fact, the Krum girl stopped and was left far behind him as he had not adjusted his speed. Was she really giving in to him? Amadeus hadn't expected that it would be that easy, nevertheless he appreciated it. His patience had been wearing quite thin indeed, if he had been pushed just an inch further he probably would have sent a hex at her. His father had taught him some particularly good ones- ones that would likely distract her long enough that she might fall off her broom. Amadeus found himself further astounded when the annoying Krum girl actually landed her broom and began retreating. He didn't allow himself to dwell on her actions, however, and quickly resumed his mindless flying.
