Hayden looked about the alley, his dark eyes peeled for any sign of movement. He was on the hunt once again, looking for one of his typical cases. Some lowlife had asked the wrong guy for money, and had been under the false pretense that he wouldn't be found if he simply ran away from who had given him the loan. Hayden's instructions has been specific- bring the guy back alive, though injured was preferable. To be honest, he preferred missions like these, he didn't like killing. Hayden could do it, he was more than capable, though he was primarily a bounty hunter, he wasn't a hit man. Nor did he particularly desire to be.
A young woman in tattered robes hurriedly scurried around him, likely scared of his intimidating presence. Though Hayden barely noticed her, he was in the zone now, he had a target to find. The alleys were dark, and unusually still, as if no one were there but him and the woman who had so quickly avoided him. A piece of parchment fluttered off an overturned crate and immediately Hayden reached out beside it, his fingers seemingly closing around a bit of wall, but there was most definitely a body beneath his grasp.
"Show yourself," Hayden said dangerously. He could almost smell the reluctance before the stranger's invisibility disappeared. But he instantly knew that this was not who he was looking for. This man, though probably a creep as he was hanging around Knockturn Alley, was innocent. Hayden pulled the picture of his target from his pocket, showing it to the trembling man who he still held firmly around the arm. "You know this man?" asked Hayden. The man shook his head, though gave no evidence he was lying. He sighed and released him with a quiet "damn" muttered under his breath. Hayden tucked the picture back in his pocket, he still had a target to find.

Knockturn Alley!
Domi really couldn't believe she was back down here again, why did her boss insist she be the one to answer calls for a Healer down here. She was a full fledged healer now and it was frustrating her she was still being treated like a first year intern who knows nothing about the job.
Yet another bar fight had gotten out of hand in this shady part of the Wizarding world and Domi had been sent to assist to the punter who refused any attempts to get him to the hospital by the owner of the bar. Luckily for both him and Domi, the injuries he'd sustained weren't to bad, of course they'd take a couple days to heal completely, even with the healing spells she'd used.
Now really that should've been it but the injured punter had all but tore out of the bar once Domi had given him the all clear, but not before roughly pushing her over, causing the young blonde to fall to the floor, hitting her head on the corner of the table as she did. The fall had left her with a pretty nasty gash on her forehead just underneath her hairline.
Grabbing her bag, she retrieved a white cloth from inside of it and pressed it against her head, stemming the bleeding as she quickly left the bar, needing to be out of there as quick as she could. It'd been the week from hell, this was just the icing on top of the cake. "Sooner I get home the better..." she muttered to herself as she stepped out onto the street, glancing up and down the darkened alley.
Blowing out a frustrated breath, she winced but pressed a little harder against her head. Sighing she lowered the rag and began walking, every so often dapping at the injury, she could already feel a monster of a headache forming when a trembling man ran past her, knocking into her making her stumble slightly, "Excuse you...damn I hate this place..." she called after him, then muttered the latter part of the sentance to herself.
Shaking her head, Domi carried on walking, her steps faltering slightly when she caught sight of the hulking figure, barely a stones throw away from her. As she drew closer to the man, she smiled, knowing she recognized him easily, "Imagine seeing you here..." she joked, dapping her head once before lowering the rag as she closed in on Hayden, a welcome sight.

Hayden watched the man run off, shaking his head lightly at his obvious fear. But then again, he probably had not been expecting to be found in his invisible state. He half-wondered what sort of criminal he was, people didn't turn hide themselves like that for the hell of it. Well, maybe there was the one oddball here and there who was afraid of being seen though all the same... Hayden popped his knuckles, taking a turn down another alley, his eyes combing them for any sign of movement, he did still have a criminal to find, after all. Not even a criminal, more like a debtor.
He didn't think on what his current employer was going to do with the sorry soul once Hayden found him, he was just glad that once he delivered he was no longer going to be involved with this mess. Hayden shook his head again as he mentally reminded himself to never borrow money from anyone whose physical description might include the word "creepy." He passed a few more creeps, none of whom he was looking for, all while straining his eyes and ears for a hint that someone invisible might be among them.
Hayden shoved his hands into his pocket, he was beginning to think that perhaps this section of the alleys might not have been the best place to start. He needed to go deeper, where even someone with a presence such as his was not safe. Where the real creeps hung out. Murderers, ambitious thieves, Death Eaters. Hayden had hoped, however vainly, that a search for a simple money-stealer would not lead him into the heart of Knockturn Alley. Though he should have known better, most people he wound up looking for would be in the darkest parts of the area.
What he had not been expecting, however, was to find a very different person. Dominique Weasley, a gorgeous little blonde thing. He would like to call her his girlfriend, though he wasn't sure what exactly they were. They had admitted their feelings, shared a kiss, and he wanted more. Though at the same time he didn't want to ruin the life she had. And have a life she did, she was close to her family, had a career, and presently had a cloth pressed to her forehead. Hayden frowned however slightly, he wanted to know what had happened and who had done it to her. He'd kill him.
"What happened, there?" asked Hayden, disregarding her greeting and getting directly to the point. He removed his hands from his pockets, he would not be anywhere near content until he had an answer. At least nothing else appeared to be wrong with her rather than the gash on her forehead. Hayden also wanted to know why someone like her was down in a place like this. Knockturn Alley, regardless of which part, wasn't safe for a pretty face.

"It's nothing...little accident with a not so grateful patient..." she replied, shrugging her shoulder, letting her hand drop. The bleeding had thankfully stopped, or at least slowed down considerably, it still throbbed painfully however. It was strange however that she barely noticed the pain anymore instead she was too focused on the man in front of her, and she couldn't fight back the small smile on her lips at seeing him.
It had been a week or so since they'd admitted their feelings for each other and there hadn't been a single second that had passed where Domi hadn't thought about him. The hulking man in front of her haunted in dreams in an extremely pleasent way. He was still a complete mystery to her, one she really did hope she would get to work out.
"Seriously Hayden don't worry...no point, guys long since ran off..." she told him, letting her own hand rest over his arm, feeling how tense he was. She hadn't seen him look as dangerous as he did now, and the only time he'd come close was the first time they'd met and he'd intervened when that sleazebag in Hogsmeade had refused to leave her alone.
"You with someone down here?" she asked, looking around him and not seeing anyone. She let her hand drop from his arm, biting down on her lip before returning her eyes back to him. Feeling the small trickle of blood seep through her hairline, Domi retrieved the rag from her bag and pressed it to the gash again, wincing slightly with the action. "I think my boss hates me...second time I've been sent into this hellhole this week..." she told him, chuckling lightly as she shook her head, looking up at him, shifting her footing slightly.
Part of her was curious as to why he was down here, but she figured it wasn't her buisness really. She watched as a pair of men walked past them, filthy looking and obviously up to ono good. One of them winked at Domi and she scowled in response, unconciously her footing shifted slightly and she moved a little bit closer to Hayden.
"I really do hate it down here." she commented as they passed, looking back up at Hayden she smiled softly, adjusting her bag on her shoulder as she did.

"Hmm," said Hayden, although he was not entirely reassured. Truthfully, he wanted to find whoever it was and make sure that they wouldn't so much as even look at Dominique again. He felt extremely protective of her, not in a territorial way, though he felt that it was now his duty to make sure no one hurt her, or even looked at her the wrong way. Hayden saw her as innocent, delicate, even, and though he was aware that she was more than capable of taking care of herself, he wanted to be the one to fend off any threat that came her way.
Especially in a place like this, Knockturn Alley was generally bad news for pretty young women- even if they knew their way around hexes. Needless to say, he worried about Dominique, hence his strong desire to make completely sure that she was safe. Hayden wouldn't be able to forgive himself if anything happened to her. He was already at fault for the death of his sister fourteen years ago- she had been killed when he was supposed to be protecting her. She had only been thirteen, to young to die in such a brutal way... It should have been him instead.
Even more than a decade later Hayden still felt that way. But he had put his grief to something productive, he picked off the undesirables of society, the ones that the ministry would often let get away simply because they had bigger fish to fry. "I'd still like to give him a lesson," said Hayden, though he felt himself relax slightly when Dominique placed her hand on his arm. She even had the touch of a healer, gentle, and in a way almost soothing. He wasn't quite sure how to describe it, but it made him feel only slightly more relaxed.
He shook his head when the blonde asked if he was down here with anyone, and as if that would not suffice he added a simple, "no." Hayden worked alone, and always had. He had never worked well in groups, even as a kid- he preferred to do things on his own. He frowned a bit when Dominique said she thought that her boss hated her, and it deepened when she mentioned that this was the second time that week she had been sent here. Hayden didn't like that, not one bit. They should be sending men, they were less likely to be attacked- or at the very least uglier women.
There was no telling what sort of pervert might go after someone like Domi. And talk of the devil, there was another one of them, winking at her. Hayden glared at him, moving a bit to the side so he was shielding her from him. The man immediately turned his head away, and pulled his friend to move faster. Hayden had gotten a bit of a reputation down here thanks to his profession, most everyone knew that he was not someone to be messed with. "Let's go, then," said Hayden. He could find his target later, he never gave specific times, preferring to know that he had as much time as he needed.

Domi smiled at Hayden realising he didn't believe her, so she gave a small shrug realising she couldn't convince him. It was strange how much safer she suddenly felt just by simply being in his presence, it didn't even register where she was, he seemed to make that worry go away somehow. Deep down, somehow, she knew he'd protect her from harm and that feeling warmed her inside and made her more convinced that revealing how she felt had in fact been the right move.
No one would understand, she knew that much, she knew from experience how small minded people could be, even the people who claimed to be open minded. When it came to accepting someone different from them, they'd turn their backs refuse to acknowledge that sure, some people were different from them but didn't mean they were beneath them. As much as she loved and adored her family, she knew many of them would not approve of Hayden, wouldn't even try despite having been good friends with a werewolf before his untimely death.
"I'm sure you would but it's really not necessary I've had worse...and it's nothing that a quick healing potion won't fix...sadly I used the last in my bag on him so...I have some more at home..." she told him with a small shrug, glad to see he'd relaxed somewhat, though he did still seem slightly unsure. Domi made a quick mental note to never point out the man who'd knocked her over if she was with Hayden, as much as she was touched by the protectivness he was showing her, she didn't want any un-necessary fighting.
She didn't miss the frown when she mentioned about her boss but just waved it off. She knew how to protect herself, maybe that was why her boss seemed so confident in sending her down here, he knew she could handle herself. Well to a certain point she could, when it came to physical force she was pretty much screwed in that department, only being tiny and barely weighing enough to knock over anything heavy. Yep, if it came to physical force, Domi just hoped she was quick enough on her feet next time. The man who winked at her, scurried away when Hayden glared at him, his body sheilding Domi somwhat making her feel like somewhat of a precious object.
Chuckling to herself, she shook her head, thinking herself silly to be feeling all of this. Biting down on her lip she looked up at Hayden, tempted to take his hand to cling to that semblance of safety he offered her, but with them not even having gone out yet, she didn't think that would go down well so with a nod of her head, she stepped out from behind him and took the first step. "You know you don't have to come...I know you were probably busy with something else before I showed up...I don't want to get in the way of that, I'll just get my butt back home.." she said, not wanting him to feel obliged to walk with her, though she knew that wasn't what he was doing, she had to give him the option, and she honestly didn't mind if they parted here, she was just thankful she'd gotten to see him so soon.

Hayden liked that smile that Dominique gave him, it made the thoughts of him beating the hell out of the guy that had hurt her subside. Not go away entirely, just retreat into the recesses of his mind with things that he wasn't presently thinking about but were usually on his mind. For a man of such few words he certainly did think a lot. He pondered small things, big things, his past, his future, and sometimes nothing at all- if that even made sense. He supposed that it didn't, though that hardly mattered to him. His thoughts were his own, nobody else heard them.
Although he had been calmed slightly, Hayden still did have the desire to kick someone's ass, if not that man's than the one that had just winked at Dominique. Though he too was now gone, and would likely never so much as look at Dominique again. Hayden liked having that effect on people. He turned to face the blonde once the creepy old guy and his friend were completely out of sight. Out of sight, but not out of mind. He would likely be thinking on them subconsciously the rest of the day, what he would have dearly loved to do to that man...
"That still doesn't mean I have to behave myself," said Hayden in what might be taken as a joke, though there was still a certain seriousness to it. He had never been a person that used humour, it just was not a part of who he was. In all honesty, Hayden would hurt that man in a heartbeat. But he was with Dominique now, and unless the situation were dire he wouldn't want to end up in a fight with someone in front of her. "They shouldn't be sending anyone down here alone," Hayden added, his tone entirely serious once more.
He folded his arms over his chest, only then becoming aware of how cold it was. It was, after all, December, winter was upon them Thankfully it wasn't snowing, although the looming clouds overhead definitely looked as if they held a storm in them. But just then it was frigid, causing his breath to freeze on the air. Hayden reached into the inside of his jacket pocket for a cigarette and lit it with the tip of his wand, the nicotine would help him relax a little more.
Hayden looked at Dominique when she said that he did not have to accompany him. To the contrary, he did. He needed to see to it that she got home safely, and took care of that gash on her head. He still had the urge to cause pain to whomever had done that to her, but saw it as more important that he be with her, rather than chasing down some annoyance. At any rate, he really did want to spend some more time with her, ever since that night when she had healed him, he craved her presence.
"No, I'll go with you," said Hayden in a very final sort of way. He could use the money that this capture was going to bring him, but he still had enough from his previous bounty to last him a little while longer. Besides, this guy, he had a feeling, wasn't going to be all that hard to find.

Domi shrugged her shoulder, fighting back the urge to tell Hayden he sounded like her Father when he began one of his long lectures about why a girl like her and her sisters shouldn't be out wondering Knockturn Alley, even if accompanied. "Not everyone can make it to the hospital so if they need help I have no choice, it's my job...I'm not going to question it...I go where I'm needed...even it means braving this hell hole..." she explained with a grimace as she looked at her surroundings, this place really did give her the creeps. Supressing a shiver, she pulled her cardigan tighter still around her Healer scrubs and sighed.
She loved December, Winter, there was something so right about curling in front of a nice warm fire, or on the sofa with hot chocolate watching whatever was on Muggle TV whilst it was cold outside. If it was snowing it was even better, Domi loved the snow when she didn't have to go out trekking in it. Curling up with a hot chocolate was definatley something she was looking forward to doing now.
As Hayden lit up a cigerette, he looked at her, as though thinking over what she'd said. The last thing she wished for him to think was that she didn't want him with her, she did, just not when he looked like there was something else he was supposed to be doing. Despite his protests to the contrary, Domi knew she'd interuppted him in the middle of something and felt bad for that fact. His tone though was final when he spoke of coming with her and Domi felt a small smile spread over her lips once more, she appreciated it.
"Okay then...shall we? she was actually thankful he wanted to stick around, with all that was going on today his presence offered her some form of safety. Resisting the urge once more to reach out to him, not matter how much she wanted to, Domi stuffed her hands into the warm pockets of her cardigan, biting down on her lip as she turned around, waiting for Hayden to join her before she began walking.

]Hayden took a long drag of his cigarette, and exhaled slowly, taking care to not do it in Dominique's direction. She was a healer, and thus not likely to partake in smoking. Of course, he didn't know for a fact if she did or not, though he assumed that she didn't. The nicotine was already making its way into his system, he found that the drug both soothed and stimulated him at the same time. He felt more awake, but not jittery. Hayden wasn't even sure if he ever got antsy or fidgety, when he got tired of being still he would work out, not squirm about like a kid.
At any rate he did need to keep in shape to maintain his intimidating presence. It was an important part of his job, it kept the more petty criminals out of his way when he was going after more attention-worthy targets. He breathed off his cigarette as Dominique explained about people who couldn't get to the hospital, and how it was her responsibility to go to them. Something told him that guy hadn't wanted any medical attention, and at any rate Hayden still didn't like it, especially since she was getting sent alone. He might feel a little better if she were with someone.
There was strength in numbers in a place like this, a tactic in which some of the thugs had caught on to, quite annoyingly. It made his job a hell of a lot harder when he had to deal with three or four guys rather than just the one that he was looking for. "Very noble of you," said Hayden, shaking his head slightly, though he did not add anything else. He got the vibe from Dominique that she was strong-willed, she would do what she was going to do.
"Yes," said Hayden, settling into pace beside Dominique while still nursing his cigarette. He half-wondered what her place would be like, he imagined that it was nice. Or at the very least nice in comparison to his cramped space. But it was what Hayden could afford, and it was moderately comfortable. Even if the hot water had decided it wasn't going to work all week. He would probably gladly give up smoking for a week in exchange for a hot shower.

"Very noble of you,"
Dominque frowned when Hayden said that, something about it grating her. Biting down on her lip she shook her head and looked away, adding a small shrug, Hardly, it's my job..." she told him quietly, doing her best not to let his tone or what he'd said affect her in any negative way. Of course he didn't believe someone like her could take care of themself, but she wasn't in the mood for starting something from nothing so kept quiet, shoving her hands deeper into her pockets.
Hayden defiantley wasn't a man of many words, she knew that the first night she'd met him, which meant mmore often than not she was left to carry the conversation and like now she wasn't too sure what to say so opted for nothing right at the moment and fell into step behind him, having to walk twice as fast just to keep up with his steps, he was a hell of a lot more taller than her don't forget.
"My place isnt' to far out there...about a ten minute walk once we get outside into the Muggle part of London..." she said some long minutes later. Ignoring the throbbing pain her head which seemed to heighten with every step she took. "You hear about the attack at Hogwarts and the Ministry? Those poor girls...one was pregnant I heard..." her expression full of sorrow for the two who'd lost their lives, the war was definatley here now.
It was scary to think that they were now at war, everyone was being warned to be on their guard constantly, made her half wonder why her boss insisted on sending her out all alone.

Perhaps that might not have been the best thing to say, Hayden hadn't intended for it to sound sarcastic- he hoped that it had not been perceived as such. Really, he was not a sarcastic guy at all, given his very much no-nonsense sort of personality. Hayden didn't do anything stupid, and that included humour. He realized that at times it did make life a little easier, but that didn't put him one step closer to putting any real effort into an attempt at it. He took another drag off his cigarette, deciding to let that part of the conversation fade rather than bring it up again.
It still made him uncomfortable, knowing that Dominique, by the sounds of it, got sent to this side of town on her own frequently. It was even worse than her suddenly turning up at his rather shady apartment complex. A lot of suspicious stuff happened around there he found, thankfully it was mostly muggle shit that he couldn't be bothered with. Hayden could not care less if his upstairs neighbour was peddling narcotics, or if there was an underground brothel six doors down. Just as long as they didn't bother him, he didn't care.
Hayden only nodded in response as he took another breath off his cigarette. He supposed that they could have apparated a long time ago, though it did not bother him, walking. It gave them longer to talk, and the cold air seemingly cleared his mind, made it easier to focus on conversation, even though he never said terribly much. Hayden was a private person, always had been, always would be. "I'd be a muggle if I hadn't," Hayden said glumly. He did not like the way that things were looking thus far. It appeared they might have a war on their hands, and soon.
He had only been five years old at the time when Voldemort had been defeated, but some of his earliest childhood memories were of the fear he could see in his parent's faces, try as they might to hide it from them. It seemed just like last time, what he could remember of it. "Cold-blooded killings, they were," Hayden added, tone dark.

"It's cruel, that's what it is...I mean people die all the time. I see it everyday but she was barely that much older than me...married, pregnant...just...what kind of person or people, would do something like that..." she sighed, shaking her head sadly as they spoke, her heart physically ached for the poor woman and her child, and not only for them but for her husband and family as well as the murdered school girl. Sometimes Domi found herself questioning the type of world they lived in, wasn't it supposed to be a better one after the downfall of Voldermort?
They walked in a seemingly comfortable silence for a bit longer till finally they rounded onto the street where Domi lived. Her head throbbed painfully and she winced slightly as it sent her off balance a little, though not once did she stop walking. Their conversation had made her eager to get into the safety and comfort of her home. "Your coming up for a drink right?" she asked Hayden as they neared the building not quite ready to end things here, if he was up for it she wanted to spend a little longer with him. There was a sort of calm when she was with him.
Using her key she opened the main door of the apartment building and stepped inside. It wasn't anything fancy, but it did her. Making sure Hayden was sticking close, she began her way up the steps of the building, her apartment being on the third floor they had quite a few steps to actually climb. Soon enough though they reached the right floor and door, and using another key Domi unlocked the blue door and pushed it open before stepping inside, "Come in..." she told Hayden, tossing her bag onto the counter as she made her way to one of the cupboards. Opening it she pulled out something to clean her head with and a painkiller potion.

Hayden lightly shook his head, though he knew all too well the sort of pain that an intimate loss was. One that he should have been able to prevent nonetheless. He didn't ever talk about Nikita, memories over fourteen years old were still a touchy subject for him. Hayden still felt that it should have been him to be the one to die of blood loss from such severe bites. He himself nearly had, but he would have given anything to change that night, to have tried just a little harder to save poor Nikita... She had been such a kindhearted girl, intelligent, pretty.
Hayden had a feeling that had Nikita survived the attack he would have had to beat up or intimidate many a boy for her- just as he had needed to do Amelia. He had been so protective of his sisters, but just that one time it hadn't been enough... Hayden shoved those thoughts from his head, what had happened was done, there wasn't anything he could do about it now. And he got oddly quiet when he thought about Nikita, more so than usual. Though at that moment, Hayden didn't know what to say in response. There were always people like that in the world, always.
He instead wrapped his hand around Dominique's, in a protective sort of way. They weren't exactly an item, though they had admitted their feelings for each other so he found the gesture appropriate. "Of course," said Hayden when Dominique asked if he was coming up for a drink. He walked in step with her up the stairs and to her flat. It wasn't an elaborate residence, though it was several times nicer than his cramped, cluttered studio-style flat. Hayden followed her to the kitchen, leaning against the counter as she searched through her cupboards.

Hayden didn't say much on the walk over, except to accept her offer of coming up to her apartment. In reality she didn't mind the silence to much, she knew he was the silent type and that suited her just fine, on any normal night she could talk enough for the both of them. Plus there wasn't really any pressing need to fill the silence, it was comfortable somewhat.
The door to her apartment was closed and she could feel Hayden's eyes on her as she began rifiling through her cupboards for a few things to clean her head with. "Would you like a drink?" she asked, pretty sure she had something stronger than just tea in her cupboard, somehow she douted this man in front of her was much of a tea drinker. After unscrewing the lid off a bottle of pain relief potion, she poured some into a small glass and quickly drank it, grimacing at the taste, but thankful she could already feel the effects of it y time she'd started screwing the lid back on.
Looking at Hayden she couldn't help but smile, once again reminded of his sheer size as he leaned against the counter, almost dwarfing her and everything else around him. As quietly and quickly as possible she managed to put something over the cut on her head, for such a little gash there wasn't any point in wasting a spell. "See good as new..." she said smiling at Hayden before putting everything away and rinsing her hands.
As she dried her hands she turned to look at Hayden for a moment before opening the cupboards, "I'll whip us up something to eat..." she said, glancing over her shoulder at him briefly before turning back to the cupboard and grabbing a bottle, "I only have firewhiskey, or theres muggle beer in the fridge...what do you fancy...?" she asked, coming to a stop beside him at the counter.

Hayden wasn't sure whether or not Dominique was expecting him to initiate any sort of conversation, though he wasn't getting the vibe that she particularly wanted to talk- and at any rate the silence they were sharing was comfortable. Hayden liked that about her quite a bit, they didn't have to say anything at all, they could simply be in silence and it wouldn't be awkward. He continued to lean against the counter, watching her graceful form move almost seamlessly. It was like she was gliding or floating rather than moving like a normal person, a peculiar thing that Hayden didn't have the words to describe.
"Yes," said Hayden, knowing that he probably shouldn't, though it didn't matter to him. He did tend to go a little heavy on the drink, not because he was an alcoholic, but because he liked it. Hayden had even grown to like the taste of straight up alcohol, the burning sensation of the stronger stuff had become almost comforting. And he had always had quite the tolerance for alcohol, it took a lot for him to get drunk, and he usually didn't drink to that point, unless he had just landed a big paycheck.
He half-smiled when Dominique mentioned she had firewhiskey, impressed. He knew her to be the type to not hold her alcohol well, he was a bit surprised she had something that strong on hand. Though he did like the drink, he had never been much a fan of beer or wine, he liked the stronger stuff. "Firewhiskey will do just fine," said Hayden. He watched her continue to move about her kitchen, mentioning that she was going to make something for them to eat. That, he would probably be more appreciative of than the liquor. Hayden knew the basics of cooking, he just seldom bothered since he lived alone.
But he could cook a damn good steak, though it might be more on the rarer side than what most people might go for. Hayden supposed it was the werewolf in him, the rarer the meat the better. The steak and potatoes, those were the things he made the best. He had always been a meat-and-potatoes sort of guy, even before becoming a werewolf. Hayden kept quiet, unsure if there was anything he should say.
