Really, it was a nice day out. The nicest day that they had had thus far that spring. The sun was shining, a gentle breeze teased at the blossoming branches, it was near perfect. Though to Wren, there was a good portion missing. There was no Violet, no Jordan, no baby Devon. They had been so cruelly taken away from them. Hence why she was at the cemetery, Ruby and Daniel en tote. The both of them were growing like weeds (which reminded her of a horklump infestation in her garden she had allowed to run rampant in her depression), Ruby was going to be three years old in September- Daniel two the following January. "We gunna put fwowers, right Mummy?" Ruby said inquisitively, craning her head backwards to look at her mother from the double-stroller.
"That's right, darling," said Wren, to which her daughter nodded. Daniel remained quiet, he was a fairly silent child, he would say typical one-year-old things, though he was much quieter than his sister. Ruby was a precocious, talkative, and at times hyper two-year-old. She was sure as her children got older they would be apt to bicker because of their differing personalities. Though as she neared the graves of her lost family, Wren wasn't thinking on that. She spread out a blanket on the grass before getting her son and daughter out of the stroller. Although young they knew the drill, they weren't allowed to leave the blanket unless given permission.
"Ruby, do you want to put the flowers in front of that rock?" said Wren, picking up two bouquets from the back of the stroller before kneeling down beside her children- her full skirt making a puddle of fabric around her. "Yeah!" Ruby said enthusiastically, picking up the flowers between her two hands. She then began disassembling the bouquet, laying the pink and purple blooms in her own nonsensical arrangement on the grass. "Daniel, why don't you help Mummy with this one?" said Wren, turning her attention to her son whilst her daughter was occupied. Daniel didn't seem quite as enthusiastic as his sister, though reacted well to Wren giving him one flower at a time so he could lay them down in a row on the ground.
"Very pretty, Ruby," Wren said in an approving tone as she glanced at her daughter's decorating. The blonde girl who looked so very much like Wren beamed widely up at her. She didn't realize what was missing...
