Prudence had been awakened at three in the morning because of a sharp pain that encompassed her entire back and abdomen- she hadn't needed to be told what that meant, it seemed that Hazel was looking to make her arrival. Her father had taken her to the hospital, though Prudence hadn't wanted him in the room with her, it seemed... awkward to her. Though there was someone special that she could think of... Prudence's weary gaze traveled to the clock above the door, it was five-thirty, surely Jonathon would be up given his training schedule. With her wand she conjured her Patronus, giving it the message for him to come.
Really, she couldn't think of anyone better than him to take her hand. Prudence gasped in pain as another contraction relentlessly gripped her. She couldn't think the pain was so intense. Several times the healers had offered her potions, though Prudence had denied them. For whatever reason feeling this agony was bringing her closure. It was going to come to an end, she was going to have a whole new set of problems, though this phase in her life was ending. There was another side, and the pain was going to help her see it.
Once the contraction ended, Prudence returned to pacing her room, biting her lip and tears stinging at her eyes. This was bound to be a very emotional day indeed, all the pain and suffering of the past nine months coming to a head, she was going to have to face it all at once. Truthfully, Prudence was afraid. And that was why she had sent word to Jonathon. He made her feel safe, and Lord knew she could do with that feeling just then. "Oh little one," Prudence moaned as she paced. She didn't want to be on her feet, though the healers wanted to keep her moving at this phase.
They had actually left her alone for the time being, which she found surprising, perhaps that might mean she could still be several hours away from delivery. Prudence leaned against the wall, her hands clasping the chair-height moulding so tightly her knuckles turned white as she was hit with another contraction. It had barely been five minutes since the last one. She inhaled deeply to prevent from crying out, looking over with tears of pain in her eyes as the door opened...

It was about 4:00am when Jonathon pulled himself out of bed for training. Sure it was early but thats how things worked around here, and he did tend to wake up a little earlier than the others, figuring the sooner he got it done the sooner he'd be able to go do as he pleased. Training was intense, just the way Jonathon liked it, it helped take his mind off certain things and certain people, situations he couldn't change.
It was around 5:30 am when the message came. Barely half way through his training, Jonathon hadn't hesitated to drop what he was doing. Prudence was in labour and she needed him, he had after all promised he'd be there and really there was nowhere else he'd rather be more. Not bothering to explain things to anyone aside from his coach he left the field, and after a record breaking change of clothes he tore up the stairs towards the office fireplace. The coach had given him permission to use the floo network and for that he was grateful, it was going to get him to Prudence's side quick.
He was feeling incredibly nervous, worried, and terrified as he flooed into the hospital. Stepping out of the fireplace he looked around quickly, before hurrying to the reception desk, quickly firing Prue's name to the the witch sat at the desk. "Down the hallway, third door on your left sweetie and congradulations..." she said with a bright smile, and in his haste all Jonathon did was smile, not bothering to tell her he wasn't the Dad, instead he just hurried in the direction she'd indicated his heart thudding in his chest.
Stopping outside the door he blew out a breath before knocking on it and pushing it open. His eyes immediatley found Prudence and he smiled softly, "Hey...I got your message..." he said, hurrying into the room and to her side, worry in his eyes when he saw her tears, she was clearly in a lot of pain. "Tell me what I can do..." he said, taking hold of her hand.

Prudence, who was normally quite eloquent, wasn't sure if she could find words that would accurately describe the pain. Sure, she could make it go away, all she needed to do was ask for a potion, though somehow that didn't seem right to her. In a way, she almost needed to feel this, to confront her emotional pain, her fear. A surge of relief coursed through her when she saw that it was Jonathon, the one person that she had wanted to see, wanted to be there with her. Thankfully he had come, and she didn't appear to have awoken him.
Though at the moment words were a bit difficult to find, if not impossible. She inhaled deeply, held her breath a few seconds, and when she exhaled it was gone. Though she expected she would only get another five minute's or so of respite. Things were moving quickly, at least that was what she felt, even if over two hours felt like a very long time. Prudence blinked forcefully to diffuse her tears, offering Jonathon a weary smile, glad the he had taken her hand. It felt good to have physical support, she had been alone in this for far too long.
"Just hold me," said Prudence softly, for the first time since knowing Jonathon actually closing the gap between him so she could lean into his strong frame. It just seemed like too much work to support her own weight. And now she finally felt that she trusted him completely. It was something that Prudence wasn't sure that she would ever be able to do, but she had found it in her, she knew he wasn't going to hurt her. She almost wanted to break down crying, sobbing hysterically, the day had barely started and yet she felt so overcome with emotion- there was so much she needed to face all at once.
But she wasn't going to be alone, not completely, she now recognized that Jonathon wasn't going to allow it. Prudence was afraid, though Jonathon's presence soothed her slightly. It seemed he knew just how to calm her, even when he wasn't doing anything at all. She resumed breathing deeply, bracing herself for she knew that the pain was going to return shortly. "Thank you for coming," Prudence whispered, though the words seemed woefully inadequate. He would never know how much it meant to her.
