Tain couldn't quite believe what was happening. His whole world had been set into motion long before he had realized what had been happening, and now he wanted desperately to simply reverse it. It had all started with James, then with Nix's other child, with Logan, and then everything with Grace... he still didn't know what had happened. She wouldn't tell him. Still, he knew that something had hurt her, that someone was putting her in danger, and that simply wasn't acceptable. After everything that had happened, Tain wanted nothing more than to be there for his family.
Kevin was dead, Martin was depressed after having lost his boyfriend in the Battle of Hogwarts, Grace was injured, everything was falling of the edge of the Earth. Still, Matchsticks was doing exceedingly well, for a little, one-man-owned broomstick shop. Even in times of crisis, people still found ways to entertain themselves. Everything was moving at the speed of light for the young entrepreneur, but he was in the pub for a little change of pace in his hectic life. He hadn't been expecting to even sit down and drink, but there he was, doing just that.
It was an evening, a rather warm evening. The pub was only a short distance from the shop and, to the same extent, his home. He'd been working on a new broom design when his feet had carried him out of the shop and onto a bar stool in the loud, busy pub. He'd ordered himself a firewhiskey and sat down to enjoy his drink, watching the other people mingle with themselves. They all seemed so happy. Bitterly, he turned back to the counter. He wished that he could take his mind off of everything, but Tain found his attention refocusing on his hectic life. If only he had someone to take away the pain...

Piper had gotten bored, and, for lack of a better word, interesting things happened when she got bored. She hadn't been sent on a mission for Jezebel in ages, and with her boss being the secretive thing that he was on some bothersome "top secret" project, her productivity had come to a screeching halt. Of course, she had paid a visit earlier in the day to the Head Auror, and conveniently deleted files on some of their ranks, but it had hardly been any fun at all. The man was too old, he didn't know how to handle the firecracker that she was. Truthfully, most men, and women for that matter, didn't.
Or they might know, but they certainly weren't capable of it. At any rate, she had gone on the prowl, looking for a new plaything, someone to entertain her for the night. So Piper had gone home from work and dolled herself up before heading to the Three Broomsticks, wearing a dress that was modest for her standards, but still, there was something to be said about a lady wearing red, it was the colour of passion, innately sexy. Piper strutted confidently into the bar, her sharp gaze scanning for anyone who looked remotely interesting.
Not seeing one at first glance, she strode up to the bar, and a moment after batting her eyelashes and flirting with the barkeep, she'd scored herself a free little fruity drink, and with one last wink to the lonely middle-aged man, Piper resumed her search. She never paid for drinks, that much was fact, she'd either con one out of the bartender, or get someone, usually a man, to buy one for her. It wasn't so much a financial thing as it was one of pride. Someone pretty as her shouldn't have to pay. It was then that she saw him, someone vaguely familiar, though attractive enough for her needs. But she would play innocent and wait for him to come to her, but just to indicate that she was interested, she winked in his direction. Now, she just had to wait.

Immediately, some of the strongest perfume he'd ever smelled wafted into his nose, causing Tain to look up from his firewhiskey. There, wandering through the pub, was an incredibly sexy woman. He'd always loved redheads, and that red dress made her all the more attractive. She walked with such confidence, striding right up to the counter and managing a free drink from the barkeep. Tain knew he was staring, slack-jawed, but he couldn't help it. He'd thought Nix was attractive, for sure, but this woman was... well, just that. She was the womanly, girly, feminine version of Nix.
Tain watched her, reading into her every motion. The confidence with which she held herself was the most attractive part of her. He liked curves, loved a pretty face and long, luscious hair, but this girl was something else entirely. She was flawless. Fiery, fierce, everything Tain could want in a woman. However, the odds of this being a long-distance thing was slim... and somehow, that was just fine with Tain. The idea of having a one-night stand, or even a girl to turn to for a little nightly fun made him smirk.
Then the redhead winked at him. Good, he was on her radar. Standing, he took a long, hard swig of his drink, needing the courage. He wasn't an enormous flirt, but he was willing to give it a shot. Tain wandered over to the woman, smiling at her. "Tain Forest, at your service," he said softly, winking in her direction and sitting beside her at the bar. This was going to be an amazing, fun-filled night, he could already see that. Hopefully, this lovely stranger would want to indulge in him as much as he wanted to indulge in her.

It had worked like a charm, she had snared the man in about two seconds flat, a new record for her. But of course, Piper wasn't surprised. She commanded attention, the way she held herself, her looks, and when coupled with the natural obsession a great chunk of men had for redheads, she could be dangerous. He walked over, and immediately she was analyzing him behind her flirty expression- he had a good amount of height, well cut, a little scruffy, but not gross. Yes, he would do just fine. Though Piper couldn't shake the thought that he looked very familiar, as if she had seen him before.
He didn't look like one of her good number of special friends... Then he went straight in, giving her his name. Forest... Yes, she knew him. Not personally, more like knew of him. He had been two years ahead of her in school, and a Gryffindor. Piper herself had stuck mostly with Slytherins and a select group of Ravenclaws, they had made the social elite, and as far as she knew Tain hadn't been in their crowd. Otherwise she might have remembered him. Her lips parted in smile that took more to the direction of a smirk, it wasn't exactly hard to tell that she was in the mood for some trouble.
"Piper," said she, purposefully omitting her surname. Most people could guess at it without her help, though she definitely was nowhere near the typical Weasley. Piper liked to think herself better than them, always so kind and giving, it was sickening. She was glad to have broken away from them, as far as she was concerned her only connection to the family was her name. Which Piper had used to her advantage from time to time, though now she didn't find it necessary. Piper lightly sipped her drink, she would let Tain lead them for the time being.

Tain watched as this woman's face lit up. She looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He was sure it would come to him eventually. She really was a stunning creature, someone he could stare at for as long as she'd allow him to. Something about her just screamed control-freak, but that was somehow alright with him. Tain hadn't ever been a leader in the bedroom, always preferring to please his partner as much as possible. That in itself gave him enough pleasure to make the whole act a lot more exciting.
"Piper."
Tain smiled, the name ringing a bell. It was a gorgeous name, unique. He'd only ever met one other Piper, and that was only because she was a year or two younger than he was. She'd been one of the most popular girls in school, aligning herself with the right people. He was a social outcast, preferring solitude than human companionship. Oh, how the times had changed. Tain raised his glass up, giving her the smallest of winks. "The pleasure is mine," he replied, taking a small sip of his drink and setting it on the counter.
He wasn't sure where to go with their flirtation. Tain had never been the smoothest guy around, but he was willing to do what it took to keep Piper's attention. A fiery redhead, a Weasley if memory served him correctly, was just the kind of girl he wanted to have his eye on. She really was incredibly stunning, and was probably a total fox. Tain knew her type well. She probably would want to play games, toy with his mind. Normally, that wouldn't be acceptable. However, Tain was willing to make a case to this beauty. She seemed like just the cure for all of his ailments.

Piper again looked Tain up and down- he would most definitely do for tonight, and if he was any good perhaps he might find a place in her roster of regulars. She kept more of them than she cared to admit, but she had never been a relationship person. Piper might not favour a man or a woman when it came to the bedroom, but when it came to dating, neither sex was good enough for her. She'd rather have the fun stuff without that bothersome commitment. She smirked behind her drink, taking a sip expertly without smudging her lipstick. It was a random, mostly useless, skill- akin to tying a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue- that she had mastered.
Piper only smiled mysteriously as Tain stated that the pleasure was his, and then... nothing. Honestly, she had hoped for more. But perhaps he would be the submissive half to her typical dominance for the evening. It was odd to get that from men, so many of them were funny about being in control. Some demanded it outright, those were the ones that would throw her on the bed or up a wall, and she did like that, but she also liked to have control, make her partner scream and beg for mercy... She really was an insufferable naughty girl.
"Well darling, you're far too alive to be here alone when this place is so dead," said Piper, looking briefly around the mostly deserted pub. There was a group of old witches drinking sherry and playing some sort of card game at a table in the back corner, and a portly middle-aged, balding man who kept looking at her hopefully, as if she would ever give him the time of day. Piper snapped her sparkling hazel eyes back on Tain, smirking again. "Not doing any pity drinking, are we?" said Piper winking.
