History: Benjamin was born the eldest of two children to Carrie and Jeremy in a quiet Scottish suburb. He grew up quite averagely for wizarding childhood standards, though when he was still young had an accident on a toy broomstick that left him wary of heights for the rest of his life. Unkowingly to him, however, Benjamin's parents had never had a terribly solid relationship. His mother up and left shortly before his first year at Hogwarts, leaving him and his younger sister, Keely in the care of their father. Benjamin grew to have bitter feelings toward his mother, and even at eleven refused to speak to her.

At school he was sorted into Gryffindor and quickly rose toward the top of the class, except for herbology where he proved to have what he called a "black thumb." Benjamin passed through Hogwarts just about averagely, along the way befriending Katherine Tailor, a girl three years his junior. He kept in touch with her after he graduated (with top marks on his NEWT exams) and went on to enter competitive dueling. Benjamin traveled the world and was quite successful in dueling, winning competition after competition and getting quite the income for a young man.

Benjamin always made a point of going to see Katherine as often as he could between competitions- at that point they fell for each other fast and hard, and the summer before Katherine's seventh year Benjamin proposed to her. This was met with some disapproval of her parents, though regardless Benjamin and Katherine were quite happy together, they traveled the world during their engagement, Benjamin would participate in dueling tournaments by day and see the world with his beloved by night. After two years they were married, and three years later had their first child, a son they named John. After the birth of his son Benjamin retired from dueling and instead applied for the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts- a safer profession that would not require him to travel.

It felt a great sacrifice to Benjamin at first, though he grew to love his position, though he still does crave being in tournaments from time to time. Just this term Benjamin was appointed the new Head of Gryffindor after the previous one retired, and as well as found out he would become the father of another child sometime in April.
