Blood Status Index

Here we will store the information on the blood statuses in the wizarding world. To keep things simple, there are only four statuses; Purebloods, Half-Bloods, Muggleborns, and Squibs.

Pureblood

Not particularly common, witches and wizards who fall into this category have magical ansestry on both the maternal and paternal sides for as far back as their lineage can be traced. At the slightest hint of non-wizard heritage the title will not pass to the next generation.

Pureblood + Pureblood = Pureblood

Half-Blood

The most common of all the blood statuses, this is a broad category that houses the majority of witches and wizards. In order to prevent complication, half-bloods include people with even lesser magical heritage, just not muggleborns. Once a family becomes half blood that is where their future generations will stay.

Pureblood + Half-Blood = Half-Blood
Pureblood + Muggleborn = Half-Blood
Pureblood + Muggle = Half-Blood
Pureblood + Squib = Half-Blood
Pureblood + Veela or Part-Veela = Half-Blood
Pureblood + Vampire or Half-Vampire = Half-Blood
Half-Blood + Half-Blood = Half-Blood
Half-Blood + Muggleborn = Half-Blood
Half-Blood + Muggle = Half-Blood
Half-Blood + Squib = Half-Blood
Half-Blood + Veela or Part-Veela = Half-Blood
Half-Blood +Vampire or Half-Vampire = Half-Blood

Muggleborn

Witches and wizards that fall into this category are specifically children of nonmagical parents, or children of two muggleborns. They may have wizarding heritage further back in their family tree, but will still be considered muggleborn if both their parents are nonmagical or muggleborns.

Muggle + Muggle = Muggleborn
Muggleborn + Muggleborn = Muggleborn
Muggleborn + Muggle = Muggleborn
Muggleborn + Squib = Muggleborn
Squib + Squib = Muggleborn

Squib

The rarest of all the blood statuses, squibs are born from pureblooded parents but do not have any magical powers. They cannot use wands, and are seen for muggles for the most part, and it is considered kinder to direct them to lead muggle lives. Squibs can only be born from pureblooded parents, if someone without magical ability is born from a half-blood relationship or from two squibs they are considered to be a muggle.
