Demetri sat at his desk, wand out. His cat, Terese, lay next to the papers laid out in front of him. He had recently assigned a potions paper, in which the students were to give the recipe to a potion that they had created themselves, its uses, functions, and so on. He hated grading papers so late at night, but he had to get it done. Using his wand, he could easily sift through papers two or three at a time, using his quill to swiftly grade them. A sudden rap at his door drew his attention away from the papers. He looked up from his desk, pushing his brown hair out of his eyes. It was...

Safira, her Persian cat in her arms. She had been looking for her journal, as it had all the plans for Angel's baby shower, and Gabriella's bridal shower. She was having a hard time believing that she could have been so stupid as to lose it, or not make a copy in case if she did, since she was always losing things. "Oh, hello Professor Oriole," said Safira. "I'm just looking for my notebook." The professor was new, and handsome. Safira and some of her girlfriends giggled about him every so often.

Demetri smiled at the arrival of Safira. He set his wand down and the papers hovering in the air in front of him fluttered back into a neat pile. "Hello Miss Malfoy." he replied, pushing his brown hair out of his face. His hair was a constant bother to him, but he didn't mind it. In fact, he liked having to fuss with it often. It gave him something to do. He lifted Safira's journal into the air and grinned. "I presume you're looking for this? I found it atop your desk." he replied. He stood up and walked over to Safira. He couldn't help but admire her radiance as he approached. Demetri had definitely taken notice of her the first day he had met her. But, it was wrong for him to be attracted, for she was at least nine years younger than himself. He knew that she was in his sister, Yvonne's, year. Surely that was wrong.

"Thank you, I have been scrambling all over the place trying to find it." Safira said with a smile, transferring Delilah to her right arm, and taking her notebook into her left. She placed it down on the desk by her hip and flicked through the pages with her free hand to make sure it was hers. Thankfully, every last page was there, none of the contents altered. Safira picked it up again, as not to leave it behind a second time.

Demetri smiled at Safira. "Of course." he replied. Uncommon for him, he leaned against one of the desks near Safira, watching her flip through her notebook. His cat, Terese, meowed suddenly, causing him to jump. He laughed awkwardly and scratched her behind the ears. "Mischievous little thing." he muttered. He looked over at Safira momentarily. He didn't want to be caught staring, in fear she would write him off as a creep. But he just couldn't help himself.

Safira gave a small giggle to mull over the awkward silence between them, feeling a slight tinge of blush rise to her cheeks. Professor Oriole was extremely handsome, she felt stupid for her crush on a teacher, besides, it would be too weird. "Thanks again," Safira said, balancing her notebook on her hip and holding it there lightly with her left arm. "Goodnight sir," She then turned to leave.

"Goodnight Miss Malfoy." Demetri sighed. He watched her golden frame as she headed towards the door. He wanted nothing more than to follow her out. Sadly, he turned. In the proccess, her bumped into a table. Vials fell to the floor, and, without his wand, Demetri was helpless. The glass shattered.

Safira had had her hand on the doorknob, and was turning it to leave, when she heard the shattering of glass on dungeon floor, a noise not alien to her ears after nearly five years of potions class. If her results for OWL came back as she expected them to, she would continue the class, and not just because of the teacher. Although she wanted to be a party planner or professional beater, potions were dead useful. Safira whipped around, placed Delilah on the floor and pulled out her wand. With a quick flick and a spell muttered under her breath, the shards of glass flew back together and the newly resembled vials placed themselves back on the table.

Demetri watched Safira in awe. Not many of his students handled a problem such as that with such fluid motions. It was like watching a skilled dancer. He pushed his hand through his hair and laughed awkwardly. "Let's just move these away from where clumsy people, such as myself, cannot break them." He picked up the newly fixed vials and placed them out of sight in a storage cupboard. He cleared his throat as he turned back towards Safira. "Thank you Sa... Miss Malfoy." he slipped. It was a strict protocol that professors call their students Miss or Mister, followed by their last name. He blushed fervently and looked away slightly.

Safira chuckled a bit, and then slid her wand up her sleeve once more before stooping over to pick up her white haired, green-eyed Persian. "Anytime," said Safira. "Goodnight, Professor." She had had to resist the urge to cringe after being addressed as "Miss Malfoy," as she quite resented her parents. But somehow it sounded weird coming from Professor Oriole's lips, not uniform as with the rest of the teachers. Perhaps he could use student's first names, Cici did.

Demetri acted quickly. "Um, Safira?" He asked. With one large stride, he reached Safira. He laid a hand gently on her shoulder. She turned, and he smiled gently. "Would you mind helping me with my grading. It would be faster with two pairs of hands." He asked, running his hand through his hair.

"Certainly," said Safira. She placed Delilah on the floor again, allowing her to pad around the room and sniff at the unfamiliar things in the classroom. It was an odd request from a teacher at (Safira checked her watch) eleven fifteen in the evening, but Professor Oriole did not strike her as being a creep, and Safira figured that she had good judgment.

Demetri smiled. "Thank you." He replied. He walked over to his desk and picked up his wand. With a quick movement, a chair came across the room and settled itself on the end of his desk. He sat down into his chair and motioned for Safira to join him. Seperating the remaining papers into two piles, he handed on to Safira. "I believe you know what to do."

Safira frowned a bit at the paper she had grabbed from the top of her stack, looking at the ingredients list, even that late at night, she knew it wouldn't work. First off, beazors could not be dissolved in anything but the stomach acid of a human, and adding fire quills to a concoction before removing it from heat resulted in explosion, and powdered root of wormwood should never be stirred clockwise, it would render it ineffective. This paper was already looking like a Poor to Safira.

Demetri swiftly graded through multiple papers at a time. He had a keen gift to be able to take in things quickly. He set three papers aside and started on the next set. Sneaking a peek over, he glanced at Safira. He had to stop himself from sighing. She looked like a vision, with her golden hair and tanned skin. He looked back down at his papers reluctantly. If he could, Demetri would say something to Safira. He didn't have a clue as to what he would say, but he couldn't help but be attracted. Something about her enticed him to the point he was almost ravenous. He felt like a little child, blinded by first love.
