Laura walked threw the streets of Magic Grove. She used to live here. She walked onto her old block and past houses she recognized. She stopped in front of her family's old house. The broken window was fixed and there was a light on. someone must have moved in. Well she couldn't go inside now. She continued starring at it not noticing anther person walking on the block. Alex, who had managed to escape the house to go for a walk. Really, she had been to the woods, and then slipped through into magic grove. Anyone who wasn't magic could never find the place, but Alex was a Potter, plus she had been here before. She noticed a girl about her age walking down the street. "Hey, I'm Alex!" she said as she neared her.

"Oh hi" she said turning away from her gaze and holding out her hand for a shake. She had never seen this girl before. She wondered if she lived in Magic Grove or was just visiting. She hoped she hadn't moved into her family's old house.

Alex shook the girl's hand readily, still grinning rather widely. Maybe this day would be better than she had planned. She could play with this girl until Ginny came to find her and then be dragged home for dinner. "I live over in Godric's Hollow," she said, pointing at the woods. "What's your name?" Alex stopped herself before more questions burst forth. Maybe her mom was right, she did need to lose some energy.

"Laura Colbert" she answered. This girl was vary enthusiastic. She remembered when she was this way. It wasn't vary long ago. "What's your name?" she asked. The girl probably thought she lived around here. She wished she still did.

Alex was confused; didn't she already say her name when she was approaching? Maybe Laura simply hadn't heard. Yes, that must be it. "Alex, Alex Potter," she replied with a wide grin. Usually people recognized the name, so Alex was curious to see how Laura would react to her being a Potter.

"Hi Ales" she replied. "Nice to meet you. She knew she recognized the last name Potter. Somewhere but she couldn't remember where. She hated when things like this happened. She thought it would come to her in a few minutes but it didn't.

Laura had pretty much no reaction to Alex's mention of "Potter" which was certainly odd. Alex was about to comment on that, but then realized that she didn't really care. It was nice not to have someone asking about her dad killing Voldemort, again. "Good to meet you too," Alex replied. "You live around here?"

She sighed. "I used to. I wish I still did" she told her sadly. She had to stop thinking about it and feeling sorry for herself. She had to be strong now. It was time to move on and forget about it long ago but she still kept holding onto that memory.

Alex nodded, but couldn't help but think that Laura seemed a little bit sad about it. Perhaps one of her parents had lost their job and they had to move or something. "Did you move somewhere else?" Alex asked before she could really help it.

"Well I guess you could say that" she replied. She didn't know if living on the streets counted as moving or not. She hoped Alex wouldn't ask any further questions but she probably would. She hated explaining it.

Well, Laura certainly wasn't very talkative, which made Alex wonder if she should question further or not. She decided not to since the other girl didn't seem to happy with the conversation. "So, you going to Hogwarts?" she asked instead. If the girl had managed to come to Magic Grove, she had to be at least part magic.

Laura smiled. "Yeah" she replied excitedly. She was glad that Alex had changed the subject to something she actually liked talking about. "It will be so fun. Are you going to?" she asked. She probably was but you never know.

Alex smiled, glad she had found a better subject to talk to Laura about. "I certainly hope so, my whole family is magic, so I better be going," she replied. "But I'm fairly sure I'll go considering I've done random magical things like blow up vases and make lights flicker." Alex thought of the day Angel had been kicked out, how badly the lights had been flickering and the eerie glow across the house. That had been almost scary.

"Wow" she replied. She had blow up vases and made lights flicker. Laura had never done anything magical like that. Really? she asked. She woundred if other students had done things like that before they entered Hogwarts. She might be behind from the vary beging.
