Gabriella looked down at the ring again, a slight smile coming to her face, as it always did when she saw the ring. She looked back up at Emily and her smile faded. "Yes, he will, but I can handle him, I think," Gabriella replied.

"Yeah," said Emily, tone stained with a tone of jealousy. "You're of age. You don't have to listen to them anymore." She frowned, then stuck the novel-length letter into her pocket, wishing that it had never been sent to her. Emily sighed, then began absently pulling on the rubber band around her wrist, never too far to snap herself with it.
