Angel sat at the breakfast table, weary-eyed and yawning. She had gotten up very early that morning, there were only a few other people in the hall, maybe ten at most. She couldn't sleep. And so, here she was at five thirteen in the morning, pouring herself a very large cup of black coffee. Angel liberally added sugar and drank deeply. She was about half way done when an owl carrying a newspaper landed before her. Angel took the paper, and paid the owl three Knuts for it.
Since nobody else was there, she spread the paper out on the table as she read and sipped her coffee. Her eyes widened as she saw a large headline on the front page. She dropped her cup of coffee, little droplets of it splattered down the length of the table. The first headline blared DARK MARK SEEN ABOVE MUGGLE HOUSE, ALL RESIDENTS DEAD. Angel began to read the article, not noticing that someone had sat beside her.

Jasmine came slowing making her way to the table, newly blond locks resembling that over her Aunt Hermione; wavy and in her face. However, as she came around near Angel, she saw her cousins frightened expression, and she bolted to the seat next to Angel. She saw the headline immediately and felt like she was about to faint.

Angel looked up and saw Jasmine, not concerned with greeting her, Angel gave her a dark look and returned to the article. Above it was a black and white picture of a muggle house with the Dark Mark above it, glittering. "Listen to this; Several calls to a muggle emergency telephone line (electronic device muggle use to speak to one another) around three in the morning claimed they heard an intruder in the yard of the home pictured above. By the time police men (muggle law-keepers) arrived, the intruder was gone and the elderly residents were found dead in their bed. Families of the victims insist that nothing was taken from the home. The Dark Wizards or Witches unknown have not yet been caught." Angel said, then folded up the paper, and turned back to Jasmine, wide-eyed.

Jasmine kept shaking her head. It was almost as if she were waking up from one of her many nightmares. She tried to shake the terrifying image of the muggles out of her head, but she couldn't. "Dark.....Mark...." she kept muttering, over and over, looking wild-eyed at the newpaper picture.

Angel was just as dumbfounded as Jasmine was. They could be back... Could they? The generation of Death Eaters were the age of grandparents, or more older parents... "Impossible." Angel said, as usual, trying to find a logical explanation. "It was probably just an anti-muggle group performing a hate-crime."

Fiona walked into the great hall. She saw two other Ravenclaw girls there. They looked vary worried. She sat down across from them. She read the headlight DARK MARK SEEN ABOVE MUGGLE HOUSE, ALL RESIDENTS DEAD. She gasped and froze for a minute.

Jasmine noticed Fiona, but didn't acknowledge her. "No. Someone here, someone we know did it. I can feel it." she whispered, eyes darting around the room for people normally not here. There were a few Hufflepuffs, and a few Slytherins, but nothing out of the ordinary. "This is just too... strange."

Angel held her head in her hands, eyes welling with tears. She felt sick. Almost the very beginning of her illness from when she forced Gabriella to bite her when she was about to die... But the venom was gone. "I'll be back." Angel said, ashen-faced. She got up from her seat and ran from the hall, trying to collect herself.

Jasmine hesitated, then got up and followed her. Her school robes billowed as she ran to catch up with Angel. She had gotten rather fast since she had become a werewolf. However, Jasmine still caught up to her in no time, hoping to be able to comfort her. "What's wrong?"

"I don't think we can handle this again." Angel said, knees shaking. She leaned against a wall, the only thing that felt solid that morning. "The ministry will hush it all up, like last time." Angel looked back down at the article. "Yep, they say it right here; Authorities suspect involvement of anti-muggle groups going too far in a hate crime." She said.

Jasmine shook her head. "That's preposterous, absolutely preposterous!" she whispered angrily. The Ministry was down right stubborn when it came to expressing the truth. Not "The Truth" that they lived by, but the cold hard truth, the facts that no one could deny but they wanted to. "They have all the magical world eating out of their grimy palms." she spat.

"That they do." Angel said, folding up her newspaper. She placed a hand on either side and tore it in half. "That-" fourths. "they-" eighths. "do." sixteenths. She threw the pieces on the ground, not bothering to pick them up even though she knew a house elf would have to.

Jasmine stooped down and gathered up the pieces, and with a flick of her wand, they disappeared. She plopped down into the seat next to Angel, grabbing a cinnamon bun as she did so. Even though she was nervous, she was starving.

Angel sat still in her seat, eyes seemingly shooting flames. Her arms were crossed across her breasts, she was so tense, it just seemed to be radiating from every pore in her body. She was no longer hungry. The cereal that she had poured herself before the newspaper came was now untouched. After a long while, She reached for the coffee and poured herself a mug full, not bothering to add milk or sugar, and downed it. She needed the caffeine to keep her going.

Jasmine eyed Angel curiously. Her cousin was very classy and hardly ever down a cup of black coffee. She got out her wand and with a flick of her wrist, the cereal disappeared. She knew Angel wasn't going to eat it, and food going to waste was like living in the Muggle World and not being able to do magic, even if you could.
