"Maybe, maybe not," Cora replied with a shrug. "It's somewhat debatable." After all, you couldn't hold a crazy person responsible for their actions, and Cora certainly held her father accountable for his. Besides, he hadn't looked crazy when he had killed Carlotta. Just angry. Cora pushed the thought from her head, she didn't want to relive what she had seen in the Penseive again. It had been terrifying, even though she knew it had already happened.

Dean frowned a bit, he supposed that Cora might have somewhat of a point with that, but he still was seeing flaws with her logic. He wondered if perhaps they might not ever find a logical explanation for it. But Dean did suppose they were flawed creatures, humans were irrational and impulsive. "Debatable it might be, normal people don't go looking for the good in people that are obviously corrupt." said Dean, being somewhat stubborn. Perhaps he still wasn't ready to forgive his sister.

"In no way was I ever looking for the good in Marcus," Cora said, spitting out his name. "He wasn't corrupt, Dean, he was a truly bad person. Evil, even. I'm just saying that being a bad person doesn't make him crazy. Insanity is entirely different." She realized they had completely abandoned Cora's explanation for her actions, and found, for the moment, that she was not at all sorry that had happened. Cora knew she hadn't yet found words to explain herself.

"Whatever," said Dean, "but I think we're getting off the point," He was wanting an answer, though at this point he wasn't sure if he was going to get one. He frowned, if truth be told he was still hurt by what had happened. His sister had tortured him, allowed Isabelle to wound him, and then left him for dead in the forest. Dean had never felt so betrayed in his life, this wasn't going to be easy to put behind them- even if it had been over a year ago.

"Well what is the point?" Cora asked her brother sharply, becoming annoyed by Dean's unwillingness to listen. "Am I supposed to lie and say I was under the Imperius Curse? Or is the point for me to spill my guts so you can attack me further? I'm not going to play games with you, Dean." Cora eyed her brother, shocked for a moment that she had spoken her thoughts aloud. But she refused to regret them, as she was not alright with her brother's sharp questions.

"Nor I with you Cora!" Dean snapped, suddenly feeling on par with his sister's frustration. He wanted to know why in a simple, direct manner, but there didn't seem to be one. He figured that he was just going to give up on it, he was foolish for thinking that they would ever be anywhere close to the same again. He stood up, not willing to put up with that any more. "You know what, forget it, I'm wasting my time with you," Dean said, slightly surprised at how cruel his words were, but he wasn't going to think on it then. He turned away, and strode to the door, ready to leave although he knew that he was not going to sleep at all that night.

"I'm just trying to tell you the truth, but you won't listen!" Cora snapped back at his retreating form. Cora watched as Dean left, knowing he certainly wouldn't listen now. And Cora didn't think she wanted him too either. While it was hard to live with a brother who hated her, it was harder for him to pay attention to her long enough to verbally attack her. Cora plopped down on the couch once more and curled herself up into a ball, willing herself not to cry.

Cora's words fell on deaf ears, Dean had already given up on his sister. As he left he was half-tempted to slam the door behind him, but figured that the noise would carry and instead left it wide open, hoping that he would let in cold air at the very least. As he trudged up the stairs toward the Ravenclaw commons Dean decided that he was going to go straight back to ignoring his sister, she wasn't worth his time anymore.

Cora watched her brother as he left, knowing that any remnants of the relationship they had once had were now gone. She felt like half of her, probably the good half, was missing now that Dean had yelled at her. He would probably go back to ignoring Cora as well. She regretted snapping at her brother, but Cora was still confused as to what exactly she had done wrong in the conversation. She had thought that if she told the story, Dean would listen, but it turned out he was more interested in fighting than listening. And Cora was done fighting him. Silently, she put her head to her knees and began to cry, not noticing footsteps outside the group commons for the second time that night.
