Ariadne turned back to her sister and nodded, smiling softly. "Anything to get away from the lovebirds," she snorted, getting to her feet. She dusted off her shorts and held out a hand to help Izzie to her feet. Turning, she began walking with Izzie in the opposite direction of the couple. Quickly, she glanced back. The pair were holding hands, sitting on the grass and snuggling. She frowned and her heart lurched, but she quickly swallowed her pride and turned back around
The pair reminded her of what she could have had with Stefan, had she not messed everything up. Ariadne wouldn't ever tell what had went down between the two of them, and was too afraid to bring it up to Stefan, afraid he'd shun her or think her to be foolish. That would be a bigger tragedy than the two of them not speaking, in her mind. At least she could still watch him from afar and dream of what might had been...

Taking her sister's hand, Izzie pulled herself to her feet, ignoring the couple as they headed off, towards the woods a bit. Izzie didn't mind the place too terribly, especially during the day. She had never entirely understood why it was forbidden to students anyway, but it wasn't like she had ever really followed the rule. Some rules were just meant to be broken.
"So, anything else new with you?" Izzie asked once they were out of sight of the beach. She looked at her feet a moment, careful not to trip over the tree roots which were becoming more and more common as they continued to walk. Though Ariadne had talked a lot, Izzie was still getting the feeling that her sister had even more on her mind.

Ariadne looked forward stoically, thinking. She missed Stefan, a lot more than she would openly admit to anyone... except maybe him. She'd been ignoring him though, hoping he would get the idea that she was scared. However, he probably just thought she was coward, or a bitch, one of the two. And neither was really very good. Ariadne had never had anyone like him before, and that night in her secret compartment under the Whomping Willow... It had changed her. She wanted him, more than she had ever wanted anyone or anything. But, she had gone and ruined it by getting drunk.
At her sister's question, she raised her eyes to meet her sister's gaze. She shrugged slightly. "Nothing of huge importance," she replied, hoping to direct her sister away and not make her suspicious. "What about you?" she asked curiously, eying Izzie as they stepped beyond the boundaries and entered the Forbidden Forest. She had never followed the stuff rule of the forest being off limits to students. Nothing bad ever happened there, especially not in broad daylight.

Izzie didn't entirely buy her sister's comment that she wasn't thinking about anything important, but for the moment she let it slide, not wanting to ruin one of their few pleasant conversations. There had been plenty of times where the two had ended up screaming at each other, especially when they were younger. Izzie hoped those days were over for good. They were fabulous screamers.
"Nothing much," Izzie replied, staying vague like her sister. She glanced around the forest again, losing herself in thought for a moment. It was only when she looked back at Ariadne did she realize that something was off. Izzie stopped short as her sister took another step forward and was then able to see a large creature, which had previously been hidden by Ariadne's form. "Look out!" she screamed as the thing tumbled toward them. Izzie drew her wand, but was slow to do so as it was caught in her cloak.

Ariadne had been deep in thought when her sister's scream pierced the air. Brought harshly back to reality, Ariadne felt Izzie drag her out of the way, confused for a moment. Something sharp grazed her forearm, and a blinding pain tore into her flesh. Her mouth formed a scream of her own, a scream of pain. Her hand flew to her arm, clutching the wound. It wasn't too large, but it burned, and was bleeding a fair amount. Ariadne pushed her sister back, keeping herself between Izzie and the unknown beast. "Stay behind me," she hissed urgently. Her hand, bloody from the wound, reached into her back pocket for her wand.
The beast reared up and charged, and Ariadne could only see the outline of the beast. The sun was cloaked by the large treetops, and all she could see was it's glowing red eyes and it's sharp, yellowing teeth. Ariadne was terrified, but, remembering Izzie was behind her, effortlessly raised her wand. Without really thinking, she practically shrieked, "Avada Kedavra!" A jet of bright green light burst from her wand's tip and shot towards the beast. The creature gave a small yelp, then fell to the ground, dead. Ariadne stared at her wand, not believing she'd just used that curse. Of all the curses she could've used, Ariadne's mind had instantly brought the one that caused death to her mind.

It all happened very quickly. One minute, Izzie had been grabbing at her wand and trying to warn her sister and the next Ariadne had forced her back to be able to take on the beast herself. Izzie's sister screamed the curse at the beast, which Izzie found far more terrifying than the kill itself. The beast fell to the ground and Izzie grabbed the tree behind her for support, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Good one, that," she said to her sister, though she couldn't quite fathom why Ariadne had used Avada Kedavra instead of some spell to drive the thing away. But Izzie wasn't about to question it; she knew how crazy it had just been and was unsure what spell she would've used had the chance been hers. She was just grateful it was over. Taking a deep breath, Izzie stepped over to her sister, taking Ariadne's arm in her hands and muttering a spell under her breath to conjure up a bandage for the injury.

Ariadne allowed Izzie to bandage her arm, her eyes slightly glazed over. The shock was slowly fading away, giving way to... pride. Ariadne was almost proud that she'd done that, that she'd killed. It was a sick thrill, but a thrill all the same. Ariadne's fingers practically itched for blood, to inflict pain on those who attempted to threaten or destroy her family, her friends, or her lifestyle. Her mind wandered to the Death Eaters once more. Ariadne realized that was all they were doing. They were eradicating the people and things that went against their lifestyle choices.
Ariadne slipped her wand back into her back pocket, taking her arm back from Izzie after she'd concluded dressing the wound. "That was... easy," was all she said, before turning to examine the dead beast. Stepping forward, she lightly nudged the creature with her foot. Kneeling down, she examined it. "What the hell is this thing?" she asked, for she had never seen the likes of such a creature before. It looked almost werewolf like, but it would have reverted to it's human form when killed. Besides, the sun was shining.

For a moment, Izzie thought her sister was in shock, but then Ariadne finally pulled away, stating that the kill had been easy, and proceeded to examine the beast she had just killed. It had been easy, Izzie quite agreed. Too easy, perhaps. It seemed odd how two words and the flourish of a wand could end a life, but it really was that simple. And there were even simpler ways. Muggles had guns, for example. Pull the trigger and someone could be dead. Yes, killing did seem easy.
"I dunno," Izzie said in response to her sister's question about the beast's identity. Truthfully, she didn't want to know. Instead she looked around, as if another such animal would come to attack them, though she doubted it would happen. Turning back to her sister, Izzie realized how nonchalant Ariadne had been about the whole thing. She was already over it, actually. Izzie put away her wand slowly, thinking again.
