Erik hugged her tightly. "I love you too," he replied, voice a bit hoarse. He had not been expecting her to say that she loved him, and, while not an emotional person, tears threatened to spill out. His parents had appeared in the doorway, and Janet was already sniffling, with Travis' face threatening to split open from beaming so broadly. Erik kissed the top of Nat's curls gently, releasing her for a moment. "I'll let you explore a bit, look at your new clothes, maybe change if you'd like to."
Erik stood, looking around at the masterpiece he'd designed. It was truly a perfect thing for Nat, completely constructed for her. "There's cake and more ice cream when you're ready to come on out," he added, grinning a bit. Ushering his parents from the room, he shot Nat a small smile before shutting the door behind him. Making his way to the living room, he grabbed his wand from the table beside the couch, performing the spell to bring the piano to life. "Gentle," he said, and the piano began playing soft music.

Nat was shocked to see others had seen her emotional moment. It was rare she felt the need to express her emotions, although at least it was the people she was proud to call a family. She surveyed the room, wiping the last tear away as she set her wand upon the shelf beside the potions, already planning everything she'd be doing for the summer. She opened the wardrobe, shocked by the wide array of clothes available to her.
Nat had never thought of fashion. She had never thought it would be an option for her. She had seen the bright and vibrant outfits that some girls pieced together. Something that described their personality. Nat wanted to be...different. She found the feminine pinks and frills too much, and too compliant for her taste. She scanned the clothes, choosing the first items she saw, deciding she'd think of fashion and such later. She wasn't going to miss a moment with her family.
The word sounded great in her head, and on her lips. "Family," she whispered as she bounced down the stairs to join them at the table, incapable of keeping the smile from her face.
'Thank-you,' she repeated. She could't say it enough. She'd never be able to say it enough.

Erik grinned, pleased she'd enjoyed herself. He'd already cut a slice of cake for her, as well as a small amount of ice cream, setting it at the table next to him. Janet was busy attempting to feed Leleti some chocolate ice cream, though the toddler had other plans, preferring to close her mouth tightly whenever the spoon came anywhere near her. Erik stood, opening the fridge and examining it's contents. "What would you like to drink? Soda, milk, water, juice, I've stocked up on just about everything," he replied, looking towards Nat for a response.

Nat took her seat, smiling to the people who sat around. "Oh, water please," she answered, barely realizing he had been asking her. It was...odd. Everyone was serving her so happily and willingly. It left those tendrils of guilt swelling deep within. She shook her head, as if it would shake away the feeling. She took a forkful of cake, smiling through the guilt. She would make up for all of it. She'd never be at rest until she could think of how she could.

Erik closed the fridge and grabbed a glass, filling it with a little bit of ice, then getting cold water from the tap. He placed the glass in front of Nat, then returned to the fridge to grab himself a bottle of cola. Coming back to the table, he took his seat and dug into the piece of cake, something Janet had made in her spare time, whenever that had been. Between routine checks for a return in her ovarian cancer and watching over Leleti, he wondered just how often either of his parents got any spare time.

Nat smiled thankfully as he laid the glass of water before her. She took a sip, watching them all. They had all grown quiet, and Nat was too terrified to be the first to say anything. She took another bite in silence, gaze landing on the small toddler. She knew it was a miracle that the child had received such a loving family. She was thrilled to count herself a member of the lucky girl's family, as she took another bite of the cake.

The family finished their cake in silence and Erik pondered a few things. Finally, when everyone was done, he cleared his throat, glancing around the table. He determined that now would be the time to let the cat out of the bag. His mother and father looked at him curiously, and even little Leleti had grown silent. "Everyone, I have something to tell you all," he started, anxiously running his hand through his hair. Janet narrowed her eyes at him, and he stifled a laugh. His mother had never approved of his nervous habit.
Clearing his throat, Erik took a deep breath, glancing around the table. "Well, this... is just as difficult as I thought it would be, so I'm just going to come out and say it. I'm... dating someone," he managed to choke out, coloring slightly. His mother and father grinned, and looked at him expectantly, awaiting him to reveal the girl's name. "It's Elliot Potter... she's also my neighbor," he finished awkwardly. Janet grinned. "I always knew you two would end up together again."

Nat watched the family action take part, as she wondered what importance that would hold. She had always imagined that when one was on their own, it was absolutely unimportant what one chose to do, or who someone chose to date. Of course, it appeared as if it were different with a real family. She didn't recognize the name, and Nat wondered if it were a muggle neighbor, or some witch had wandered into the muggle neighborhood. Of course, Nat wasn't going to say her opinion on anything. That was obviously something in the family past she had missed, but from the sounds of it, it wasn't that bad at all.
"Who's that?" She asked. Of course, that was a broad question, and she wasn't sure what kind of an answer she could expect.

Erik awkwardly ran a hand through his hair again, surprised to find his mother too preoccupied with the news to scold him. He looked towards Nat and smiled softly. "The Potter's are a very... famous wizarding family. Elliot's father is Harry Potter, the one who stopped the Second Wizarding War decades ago," he explained, grinning inwardly. It didn't occur to him just how much the lady in his life once more was going to put him on the radar in the wizarding world. Hopefully, the pair could keep their relationship to themselves for a while, figuring that attention was the last thing Elliot wanted or needed.
"We dated back when we were in Hogwarts, she was a Ravenclaw and I was a Gryffindor. It... didn't end well. But, I guess the feelings never went away, for the both of us," he finished, picking up his cola. Instead of lifting it to his lips and taking a sip, he ran his finger along the rim absently, smiling rather peacefully to himself.

"Oh," Nat's eyes widened slightly. She hadn't known it had been Harry Potter's daughter he had spoken of. Potter seemed to be the surname of every other Englishman. She listened, her curiosity growing, although she knew most of her questions would have been rude. It was obvious that Erik liked the girl a great deal. His eyes glittered when he spoke of her in a way she hadn't seen anyone's act before. She wondered how such a great thing must have come to an end, but then again she didn't care to know. Relationships were messy, and too strange for Nat. The only books she had never completed were romance novels, that left her gagging. "That's wonderful," she smiled, realizing he was happy. At least they must have been mature enough to put aside past problems.
Nat polished off the cake. "So this isn't a muggle neighborhood?" She still had yet to understand the spells on the door, which left her uneasy. She hadn't known you had to worry about such things in the wizarding world as well. Even the smallest dangers managed to seep into this world, as well as the muggle one.

Erik bit his lip, wondering just how he was going to explain the situation of the world to Nat. She already knew it was a dark place, especially for Muggleborns. Still, he didn't want to completely terrify the poor girl, for the world was much more dangerous than it seemed. "Well, it's a Muggle area, yes. However, because it's so close to Wizarding London, magical folk travel here a lot, even live here, like Elliot and I," he explained.
"And, well... I suppose I should explain the protective charms I have cast over our flat too. You'll end up learning then for yourself now anyway, so it's best if I tell you now. I'm part of an... organization. The Order of the Phoenix. There's been some... whisperings... of dangerous witches and wizards roaming the place, aiming to kill or swing anyone who doesn't fit a perfect plan they have set up. Death Eaters. Those charms are to keep any unwanted intruder out, since they can't be detetced, and therefore can't be disabled, by anyone who isn't aware that they're there in the first place."

Nat listened, her stomach knotting as she did so. She'd read of Deatheaters in history books, but never had she imagined that they still existed. They seemed like some brutal figment of imagination. She had never thought any being could be that horrible, and that they had only been exaggerated. Her gaze fell on the door once more,a quiet, cold shudder running down her spine. She took a deep breath, managing a smile.
"I can't wait to meet her," she quickly switched the topic to Elliot once again. She sounded nice enough, and Nat didn't want to ruin the perfect moment with scary thoughts and nightmares. It was nothing. She refused to believe in it, until she saw it.

Erik knew that it would scare Nat. He reached out and took her hand, giving it a small squeeze and smiled gently. Hopefully, without saying anything, she was getting the message: Erik was going to protect her, no matter the costs. It was his job now, a job that he wasn't going to take lightly. He loved Nat too much to let her become injured, either physically or mentally, by the coming events, whatever danger they may hold.
At the mention of Elliot, Erik smiled, releasing Nat's hand. He didn't want his parents to catch on to the danger, since it would be too easy for the pair to put themselves into danger. Besides, telling his parents that, if something were to happen, he'd likely be one of the wizards at the top of the list for his blood status wasn't the smartest plan in the entire world. "I'm glad."

Nat leaned back in her chair, full to the point where she was struggling for breath. She smiled, rubbing her stomach before stretching.
"It tasted wonderful," she didn't know who had baked, but she felt it her responsibility to inform them of the excellent job they had done. She brushed a stray curl behind her ear, watching the group. Erik's parents were in their own little blissful world, fussing over the picky baby, refusing the cake. Simply sitting there, surrounded by all those people, i t put a smile on Nat's face, for no real reason at all. She liked the feeling.
