Hayden lightly closed his eyes as he massaged his wife's legs, finally allowing himself to relax for that day. Given his profession, a lot of his day was spent being on constant guard, even with keeping his eyes peeled and his wand at the ready the scum he was after often got the better of him. Hayden had gotten himself seriously injured more than just a time or two, twice of those times Dominique had needed to tend to him. Oddly enough it didn't seem that it was curses and hexes he needed to watch for, but rather knives. They seemed awfully fond of their pointy, sharp objects.
Hayden had been just about to completely relax when Dominique violently flinched, making a noise that indicated she had experienced a sudden, sharp pain. He opened his eyes, straightening a bit and turning his head to more fully look over at his wife, who had her hand pressed to her side, before making a comment about his son having a good kick in him. Hayden chuckled lightly now that it wasn't anything that specifically needed to be worried about. He couldn't help but be jumpy as she approached her due date, this was all quite new to him.
Hayden smiled a bit, and resumed rubbing Dominique's legs, and allowed himself to relax once again. He hadn't thought that he would have moments like these, he had never pictured himself settling down like this. "Well, if he's anything like me, he'll be trouble," said Hayden, reflecting on all he got into as a child. Most of it was because he had taken a long time to master his temper, it still did get the better of him sometimes.

Domi scowled and sat back again, still trying to coax her son into pulling back his foot. "Why doesn't it surprise me you were a handful as a child..." she teased, sticking her tongue out at Hayden before taking another sharp breath as Archer finally pulled back his foot, only to turn over in his Mother's stomach and begin kicking. Smiling she took one of Hayden's hands and lay it over the spot in which Archer was kicking, "Funny how much he reacts to hearing your voice..." she told him, there'd been many a time Archer had livened up upon hearing his Dad's voice.
Smiling she sighed softly and closed her eyes, her mind drifting to work and the young girl who hadn't been far from her mind all week. To say Domi was worried about her would be an understatement, she was sick with worry but there was little she could do. She'd treated the girl, mended all of of her physical injuries but she knew there was little she could do for her emotional well being. The girl had been beaten, she just wouldn't tell anyone who had done it, if Domi knew though she'd have no problem getting her husband in on it.
"It's strange how incredibly used to carrying him I am now...hard to imagine not being pregnant or worse..." she sighed, her hand resting over his, as she took a moment to marvel at the differences in sizes. "A young girl back at the school miscarried her baby...beaten...but she won't talk...had to be a monster who did that to her..." she said sadly.

Hayden smiled a bit when Dominique said she wasn't surprised at his admitting being trouble when he was little. He hadn't discussed much of his past with her, most of it was still very painful for him, even all of these years later. She knew that he had a sister, and that he was estranged from his parents, but that was about the extent of it. Though before he could think much of his childhood, Dominique had seized his hand, placing it on her stomach where he could feel his son kicking around. Archer was much stronger now, getting bigger every day.
He seemed pretty active at the moment, despite it being late. Hayden wondered how his wife ever slept if their son was like this more than occasionally. "Relax buddy," said Hayden, "you'll have plenty of time to give your mum grief outside the womb." Archer only responded by kicking at his hand some more. There was a brief pause in the conversation, though it was broken by Dominique bringing up something at work, about a girl who had had a miscarriage because she had beaten. He knitted his eyebrows together, working at staying relaxed, he didn't like that things like that happened, that this world was so ruined.
Hayden was sure that his wife had fixed up said girl physically, but he imagined the young girl was a wreck, that wasn't something that would be easy to have to live through. He nodded lightly. "There are evil people like that everywhere," said Hayden.

"Relax buddy...you'll have plenty of time to give your mum grief outside the womb."
Dominique laughed and lightly tapped Hayden's hand trying to give him a stern look but failing miserably because no sooner had Hayden said that, then Archer continued kicking, if not harder. "Thanks for that big man..it'll be you I keep up with me tonight when this little one refuses to settle." she said in warning, unable to stop smiling a little bit, if not lovingly. Really she had everything now, this was her own little slice of perfection, she had a man she loved and adored, and desired more than she ever had anyone, they were married and now expecting their first child. It was perfect, maybe not to everyone's standards, her families included but to her there was nothing better. This was her meant to be.
"I know..it's just hard I wish I could help her some more than simply patching her up...she's just a kid and I don't think she really has anyone..." she sighed softly, smoothing her hand over her stomach soothingly. It only took a few light movements but in no time Archer had calmed down, not before somersaulting in his Mother's stomach first though, making her feel slightly nauseous. Paling she pressed a hand to her mouth and sighed, "I'll just have to keep an eye on her." she determined, nodding her head firmly, determined to be there for the young girl.
Shifting slightly she sat up, her legs still over Hayden's legs as she leaned her head against his shoulder. "Will you take me to bed?" she asked softly, pressing a light kiss to the crook of his neck, inhaling his intoxicating scent and sighing. Another, well perk to being pregnant, it hadn't dented her desire to her husband, in fact if anything she wanted him that much more. In a way she felt sorry for him, one minute she was sad, angry whatever and the next she wanted Hayden, poor guy. Though sometimes she was hit with bouts of self-consciousness due to her size, but she didn't think Hayden cared, at least she hoped not. Smiling slightly, and biting down on her lip she looked up at him coyly, before nuzzling his shoulder.

Hayden smirked a bit at his wife's failed attempt to be stern, if he did say so himself that had been a bit of a witty comment. Though she went on to tease that she would be keeping him up that night if Archer refused to settle down. But Hayden hadn't been any stranger to lost sleep of late, he would often lie awake, simply thinking of what it would be like to be the father of a child. Would Archer resent his father's condition? Hayden already didn't like that once a month he had to leave before the sun went down, and couldn't return until it rose again.
Dominique had already branded herself as one of the outcasts in society by choosing him, surely Archer would suffer the same, unfortunate fate. He would be welcomed by the staff at Hogwarts, of course, but what of his peers? Surely they would tease... Hayden shoved those thoughts away, what did it matter? His son would be tough just like him. "There's only so much you can do, she'll have to figure a lot of it out on her own," said Hayden, attempting to be encouraging, but he knew how deep losses affected people, a loss at the fault of his own hands, and how he hadn't been fast enough...
He was brought out of his thoughts by Dominique shifting her position, leaning in to press her lips against the crook of his neck, and then asking him to take her to bed. Well, that was unexpected, though he welcomed the sudden change in direction. Like most every man, he was not apt to turn down sex. "Yeah," Hayden said softly, leaning back and in turn kissing down his wife's neck, the hand that had been on her stomach traveling down to her hip.
