Cici's eyes also traveled to the flower boxes, she had always admired Liam's talents when it came to raising plants, she had jokingly said that she had a 'Black Thumb,' as any plant that she tried to grow wound up dying. She gently release her husband's hand and stood, feeling her wet hair slap against the back of her neck. "I'm going to get another cup of coffee," Cici said.

"Okay, I'll some with you," said Liam, also standing up. He was beginning to feel grimy, as he had yet to shower that morning, but ignored the feeling. Right now he was more concerned about if Cici was pregnant rather than his cleanliness. He felt excitement growing like a giant crescendo within the pit of his stomach, but this was marred by undertones of dread, this was all too confusing for Liam. He closed the sliding glass door behind them and seated himself at their kitchen table with the last dregs of his cup of plain tea.

Cici had not really wanted another cup of coffee, but was merely using it as in excuse to delay taking the pregnancy test for a few more minutes. Truth be told, she had never been this nervous in her entire life, not even the first day being Headmistress. She felt sick to her stomach, but knew it was only from nerves because if she were pregnant it would be too early for her to get morning sickness. Cici filled her mug with black coffee for a second time and drank it perhaps a bit more quickly, knowing that she would feel better once she had finished the test and it was over with.

While Cici rapidly drained her second mug of coffee, Liam finished off the last sip of tea and placed his mug in the sink, he would take care of it later, there were important matters to take care of then. "Ready?" said Liam. He felt as if they were preparing to leave on a dangerous mission, rather than having Cici take a relatively benign pregnancy test. But he supposed that the entire path of their future could alter depending on the result of that little stick...

Cici placed her mug in the sink next to Liam's and took in a deep breath, as if readying herself to to jump out of an airplane or something of the like. She nodded slowly and walked to the bathroom, she closed the door and pulled out the box from the cabinet under the sink. Her fingers trembled as she opened the package. She followed the instructions and set the stick on the counter before leaving the bathroom. Cici looked at their large clock in the sitting room, she had to wait five minutes for the results.

Liam, in the meantime, had seated himself on their couch. He was currently staring blankly at the television, the blank screen, he had yet to turn it on. He wasn't much a fan of watching the thing anyways, the only reason that he and Cici had invested in one was to seem at least semi-normal to their muggle neighbours. He knew all too well the process, now they would have to wait. "Come love, sit with me," said Liam, patting the space beside him.

Cici wordlessly sat beside her husband, if her nails weren't so short out of habit, she would probably be biting them just about then. She ran a hand through her naturally black tresses instead. She could feel her nerves gnawing at her stomach, she felt as if she were going to throw up her coffee. Time had never seemed to pass so slowly, each second felt like hours, the ticking of the second hand resonated within her head, tick tick tick... Cici did not even notice that the television was off.

This was perhaps the tensest moment that Liam had ever shared with his wife, normally things between them were so natural, everything flowing so smoothly, never an awkward silence like this. But Liam had no idea what to do or say, so he remained quiet, his eye not moving away from the blank television screen. Time had never seemed to be so slow to him, each second felt like days passing by... Liam swallowed forcefully before turning his attention to the clock. Two minutes had passed.

When five minutes finally passed, Cici sprang up as if she had been sitting on a pine cone for the entire duration of the test developing. She opened her mouth to say something, but found that the words got lost somewhere between her brain and tongue, so closed her mouth and began walking to the bathroom. The walk there had never felt so long before, Cici could feel her heart hammering inside of her throat, it felt as if her legs were made of marshmallow, her stomach churned. Cici paused a moment, with her hand on the door, then took in a deep breath.

Liam stood after his wife, though perhaps not so violently, but he too could feel his heart racing, he was nervous. He followed his wife at a distance down the short hall of their one-bedroom flat. Their room was the door at the end, the bathroom was the door near it on the left, never before had Liam been so anxious about a door, but behind that door (although terribly cliched) was a significant portion of their destiny. Liam swallowed forcefully as Cici steaded herself.

Finally fed up with all the waiting, Cici almost aggressively flung open the bathroom door and took the two steps to the counter, where the pregnancy test awaited her to see the results. Cici picked it up, closed her eyes a moment, and then looked at the display. Clear as day there was... A plus sign, she felt her heart nearly stop for a second. When she came to her senses, Cici placed the test back on the counter and looked to Liam. "I'm pregnant," Cici said.

At first, Liam was not sure whether to be full of dread or happiness. Within a split second, however, he decided on the latter. They had more than enough reasons to be excited about this, they had tried for so long, been discouraged many a time, and now they had finally gotten what they had asked for. "That's great!" Liam said enthusiastically, giving Cici a hug and a brief peck on the lips.

Cici allowed herself to reflect Liam's joy, this was what they had wanted for such a very long time, for seven years... That seemed like forever. And now they would be having that baby. Cici returned her husband's embrace, allowing him to kiss her and reflecting his passion, she felt genuine happiness, for the first time in a long while. She was pregnant, they were going to have a baby. Her, a parent. But the feeling of joy faded. "What are we going to do?" Cici said in a very small tone.

"Don't you worry about anything," Liam said, holding his wife close to him and resting his chin atop her head. He stroked the back of her head, feeling her silky, but still damp, hair beneath his fingers, he had a plan all worked out until Cici had had her baby. "We're going to pack, and I'm going to call my parents, I'm certain they will be more than happy for you to stay with them throughout the duration of your pregnancy. I will put every last protective charm on their property that exists, we'll be okay," Liam said quietly.

"Okay," said Cici in a soft tone, burying her nose into Liam's chest, smelling his unique scent. She was suddenly aware of every move that she made, it was almost surreal to think that she was expecting a baby, as if this weren't supposed to happen. But it was. Cici shoved away her dread and allowed a balloon of happiness to swell within her, a baby, they were going to be parents.
