Tristan ascended the steps of the Owlery, sleep heavy in his eyes. He had woken up early this morning, unusual for him. He had attempted to eat breakfast, intending to go to the Owlery afterwards, but those plans had been thwarted by Jezebel Hallow. She had witnessed Tristan and Cora's Quidditch fun, and was furious. In her mind, the two of them were a couple.
Tristan saw nothing of interest in Jezebel, but a quick slap to the jaw had sent Tristan flying to the Owlery. It was merely a hiding place... Until the door creaked open. Tristan quickly darted behind a pillar, only to catch a glimpse of someone. He remained hidden, and would remain so until spoken to.

Emily slipped into the owlery, she was planning on skipping first period today... To collect herself. The nightmares had been terrible last night. She had avoided the Great Hall altogether, not feeling like sitting there, or have someone notice that she wasn't eating. If she were never there, she could lie about having gone to the kitchens for something, when in reality she usually didn't eat all day. Yes, Emily knew carrying on this way she might die, but she would consume just enough to get by, no more, no less. Having not noticed Tristan, Emily hunched over, placing her hands on the window sill, allowing her tears to come. Thinking she was alone, Emily let the sobs escape her throat.

Tristan listened to the girl come in. He recognized her, but just barely. She was the Keeper for the Sytherin house, and his age. He remained hidden as the girl sat herself at the window. It took him a while to even register the tears, even hear the sobbing. When he eventually did, it only took him moments to stand up and reveal himself. He slowly, cautiously tiptoed over to the girl. His brain was trying to come up with a name, but nothing was popping into his head.

Emily heard the boy as soon as he started walking, it was hard to have quiet footsteps when the floor was covered in straw and owl droppings. She whipped around and had her wand out in a heartbeat, pointed directly at him. Emily recognized the boy as being a chaser for the Gryffindor quidditch team, but was uncertain of his name. She figured his intentions weren't malicious and put her wand away. "S-Sorry," said Emily, not bothering to wipe away her tears.

Tristan took a step back, running his hand through his hair. It was a bit unnerving to have a wand pointed at your throat, but he hid his uneasiness well. "No, it's fine." He replied softly. He put his hand in his robe pockets, not saying anything. He didn't really know how to talk to her. He supposed he could ask her if she was alright, but that seemed redundant. Obviously she wasn't.

Emily turned back to face outside of the window, glad that they didn't have glass in them, the cool early morning breeze felt good on her face. She didn't say anything to the boy, her mouth wasn't working properly, her tongue tied itself whenever she tried to form words, so Emily decided to keep quiet. She muted her obvious anguish, Emily didn't like crying in front of close friends, let alone almost complete strangers.

Tristan was very uncomfortable at the girl's anguish. He was a naturally compassionate person, so he hated to see others hurt. He watched the girl for some time, wondering what she was thinking. Sometimes he wished he was a Legilimens, so he could delve into others thoughts. But he always thought better of that wish, knowing full well what a Legilimens could do to someone if the Legilimens was unskilled. Tristan also knew it was a horrible violation of privacy, another thing with which he was uncomfortable with.

The silence between them was growing increasingly awkward; but Emily didn't know what to do or say. Although she kept her sobbing suppressed, there wasn't a thing she could do about the tears, what was this boy thinking? Why was he still here? It didn't make much sense to Emily. Perhaps he was expecting her to speak with him, that wasn't likely, unless he decided to initiate conversation.
