Levi had awoken unusually early that morning, and found himself unable to go back to sleep. He dressed slowly, and then walked down to the Great Hall, only to discover that it was too early for breakfast, and that there was only coffee and toast on the tables. Levi sat at the end of the Ravenclaw table, and then pulled a book out of his bag. He began to read as he ate toast and drank black coffee, not a care in the world. The text of the book was written entirely in runes, but Levi was particularly gifted with them, along with most wand-work. Perhaps he might look into curse-breaking for Gringotts... Levi sighed as the door opened, ignoring the footsteps, they would pass him by like always.

It was Raychel, to bored to sleep anymore. The weather had been dreadful for the last few days, so she hadn't been able to get into her usual spring routine of running in the morning. This had caused some dullness in her life. She stretched and yawned rather loudly, not really noticing anyone in the Hall at that moment. She normally wasn't so out of focus, but this had really been quite possibly the most boring days she had ever had in her life.
Her hair was done up in a lazy ponytail, her black hair frizzy from the rain and sleet she had tried to go out in. She was wearing a pair of loose gray sweatpants and a pink t-shirt, not her usual daily attire. Her worn out tennis shoes were packed in with at least one hundred miles of running. Raychel normally tried to look a little girly, but now the only evidence of that was the lazy make-up of eyeliner, lip gloss, and a faint blush.
She took a seat farther down the Ravenclaw table from Levi, whom she had no idea was actually there yet. She grabbed herself a piece of heavily buttered toast and a mug of hot coffee. She mixed in some milk and sugar lazily, and then hurriedly mixed in some chocolate using her wand. Raychel moved to take a sip of her drink, when the mug slipped out of her hands and fell to her lap. Her clothes were stained and she quietly swore, standing up quickly. That's when she noticed Levi. Blushing, she quickly sat down and started cleaning up her mess.

Levi had not even noticed the other girl until she had sworn quietly. He looked over the top of his book at her, and then pulled his wand. "Oh, let me help you with that," he said. A quick spell cleaned up the spilled coffee, and then he returned to his book. Levi took a bite of toast, not expecting that Raychel would pursue conversation with him, even if they were in the same year and house, and shared many classes. Levi took a sip of coffee and then turned the page, frowning a bit in concentration. Reading runes was more time-consuming than reading English.

Raychel sighed happily and straightened her newly washed clothes. "Thank you." she replied softly. She turned back to her food, her mind racing. Only one thing crossed her mind, and that was Leviticus Percival Weasley. She had taken a notice of him, considering he was in just about every single one of her classes, and he was her age and in her house. Raychel realized she actually had feelings for this boy. Sadly, she believed that he had none for her.
Raychel noticed the runes he was trying to decipher and slid over to sit next to him. Her shoulder brushed his shoulder and silently read over the runes. She translated that last night, but she held her tongue so he could get it on his own.

Levi jumped when Raychel changed her seat to be beside him. He looked up at her, he had never really realized her pretty features before, he had always been too consumed in his studies to notice her. "Do you read runes?" Levi asked curiously, he didn't know many people that took the time to read them untranslated, except of course, his cousin Angel. This was one of his favourite tales, but it had been a long while since he had picked it up, so it was a little bit of a challenge trying to recall everything.

Raychel smiled gently at his frightened look. She tucked a strand of her frizzy hair behind her ear before nodding bashfully. "Yes. Not rather... fluently I guess. Just enough to decipher the basics. I had to decipher that tale in class yesterday." she added with a small laugh. She watched Levi curiously. She hadn't really noticed how cute he was. His blond hair was swept in a way she found strangely attractive, and his eyes.... gosh, he had the most beautiful eyes...

Levi looked away, finding himself unable to pursue eye contact. He was a rather shy person anyways, and it was far beyond his comfort zone to even say a few words with Raychel. "I thought it was interesting, of course, I've been looking for things that are a bit more complex to busy myself with." said Levi, turning the page and then allowing himself a long drink of coffee. He shifted in his seat a bit, trying to find a comfortable place to sit, preferably a position where he and Raychel would not be touching one another.

Raychel noticed his uncomfortable position and scooted a bit over to the side, separating their shoulders. She took a long swig of her coffee, draining the mug. She began to nibble on the toast laying in front of her. It no longer seemed appetizing. It was almost... dry. Like her tongue. Like her brain, a tumbleweed blowing around in the vacant corners of her skull. She felt so stupid right now. Then again, she usually did.

Levi allowed his entire brain to slip into concentration on the runes, to let himself be wrapped up in the tale. He saw it as if it were a film in his brain, as if he were observing the characters as an invisible third party, rather than just reading about them. He flipped the page, ignoring his coffee for now, Levi was far too concentrated on his book to take a drink. He had never been much of a breakfast person anyways.

Raychel watched him with an intense interest. She could almost see the clock work clinking around in his head. His eyes were so focused, it was hard not to stare. He looked so peaceful, and Raychel couldn't help but watch. Raychel watched him curiously, leaving the rest of her food untouched.

After a moment, Levi could sense that she was watching him, so he tore his mind away from the book, and looked over the top of the pages at Raychel again. "Yes?" said Levi, a bit confused as to why she was staring at him, he did not think that he was doing anything particularly interesting to someone else, just reading his book, nothing special, at least not in his mind. Levi remembered his coffee and took a sip of it before it would get cold.

Raychel tore her gaze bashfully away. "Erm, no nothing." She replied awkwardly. She pretended to turn back and enjoy her toast.
((Sorry for the crap post I'm attempting to do it on my phone.))

What a peculiar character, Levi thought to himself, and then returned to his book after finishing the last dregs of his mug of coffee. He slipped back into his state of deep mental concentration, blocking out everything around him, nothing existed spare for the text in front of his eyes. Even that too was melting away as he began to see the characters and their surroundings once more. He could hear their voices, as if they were speaking in his ear, asif he had gone back in time to observe what they were doing...

Raychel had subconciously invaded his mind and read his thoughts. "Well then." She thought angrily. She regretted invading his privacy like that and she had not done it on purpose. Raychel got to her feet in a tizzy and started to leave.

Levi felt something weird in his head, temporarily disrupting his concentration, it was almost as if another mind brushed his, it was the strangest sensation in the world. But this passed relatively quickly, and he returned his mind to the text, he did not even notice Raychel getting up from the bench and turning to leave. Once Levi got his mindset on something, he was not easily distracted, so it was perfectly normal for him to not notice things going on around him when he was really focused.
