Dean pulled open the door to the Room of Requirement, and it became his usual room. Nothing too extravagant, just large with a fire place, couch, and a grand piano. For him, it was also soundproof. No sounds outside of the room could ruin his focus, nor could anyone not in the room hear him. Dean smiled as he closed the door behind himself, ready for a little bit of escape. He dropped his bag on the couch and seated himself at the piano. Dean began to play. He had taught himself how to play, and with his natural talent for musical instruments, he felt that he was fairly good. Dean continued playing, it was one of his favourite pieces. He felt the troubles from the day leaving him. Dean was so engrossed in his work, that he did not notice that the door was opening.

Cora ducked into a room at random, narrowly escaping one of her ex-boyfriends. She shut the door behind her before she noticed some very beautiful music playing in the room. The girl whipped around, but she already knew who was playing it. Who else but her twin brother, Dean. A slight smile came to her face and Cora sat down on the ground to listen. She then wished she had a mirror, as her hair felt out of place. One appeared next to her and Cora barely refrained from jumping. What was this room?

Dean had not noticed whomever it was until the door slammed shut. He jumped, messing up the last note of the song. He looked over, only to see his twin sister, Eliza-Coraline. But you didn't call her that unless you were cross with her. It was really a mouthful to say every time you addressed her. Dean had always called her Cora. The piano vanished and the bench turned into a nice armchair. "Hey Cora," said Dean.

Cora checked her hair in the mirror and was surprised to find it still looked the way it had that morning. She placed the mirror back and looked up at her brother. "Hey Dean, nice playing," she replied, feeling slightly bad that she had disturbed him. "I didn't mean for the door to slam." Cora said the words in an apologetic way without actually apologizing, which wasn't really her thing. Apologizing was overrated. No one really seemed to care.

"It's fine," said Dean with a shrug. He rested his left foot atop his right knee, and turned his attention to the fire that was merrily crackling in the grate. In a way, he was sort of glad that Cora had come in. He didn't see his sister very often because of the house difference. Dean frowned slightly, remembering all the homework he had left to do. It was going to take him ages to finish it all.

Cora shrugged slightly, glad that she had escaped ex-boyfriend number...well she didn't know the exact number, actually. Cora had lost count after number 11 had become number 14 as well. But this ex, a sixth year Slytherin, seemed persistent on finding out why she had dumped him. Cora didn't like explanations. Wasn't it obvious that she had just been having a bit of fun? "What have you been up to?" she asked Dean, trying to forget about the whole boyfriend business.

"Music, art, and homework," said Dean. Next year, the list would expand to add Quidditch, though. After all, he had been promoted from reserve to Captain and Seeker since Angel Potter dropped out. He was excited, after all, he was the youngest person to become Ravenclaw Captain since 1920. "What about you?" Dean added to be polite, though he was pretty sure that he knew what Cora was up to.

Cora nodded, those were the things that Dean always seemed to be doing. Sometimes she wondered if her brother had any fun at all. "Oh the usual; homework and stuff," Cora replied rather vaguely to Dean's polite return of the question. At least she had fun, though she was rather cruel to the boys she dumped. Cora often wondered what her brothers knew about her, if anything. She felt like a fake around them.

Dean never really knew how to carry conversation with Cora, although they were brother and sister, he felt that they didn't really have a whole lot in common with one another. Dean's life revolved around art, music and grades, though he knew academics were important to Cora, Dean also knew she was completely boy-crazy, while he had not gotten terribly interested in girls and dating yet. It seemed like a lot of extra drama. "What do you think of Professor North?" asked Dean, after all, the new History of Magic teacher had only been there a few weeks.

Cora found the topic of school quite boring, but this was Dean, so she would attempt to carry on a conversation at least. "She's a lot better than Professor Binns, that's for sure," Cora replied with a slight smile. Professor Binns had been the old teacher, who was a ghost. Cora briefly wondered what had happened to him. Had he finally decided to retire?

"Agreed," said Dean with a nod. "I wonder what finally made him leave, I mean, nothing kept him from teaching, not even his own death." It must have been a job forcing him out of his position. Or perhaps he had just decided to get up and leave Hogwarts altogether, see the world or something. Must be easier to travel the world as a ghost.

"Maybe he finally figured out that no one was learning anything," Cora added with a laugh. Professor Binns had been so boring that it was actually impossible for someone normal to pay attention. Cora had even tried, but after a few minutes, she found herself half asleep. It was a good thing Professor North had taken over.
