Tonight Jenna was no longer Jenna Clearwater, she was hidden behind a mask and wearing robes that she had never worn before. Why? She just wanted to have a little fun. To confuse people even more, Jenna had put her hair up in a mass of curls on the top of her head. Jenna rarely ever put her hair up, and never in a bun before. Jenna's robes were a pure white and the mask she had managed to find last minute was fairly impressive. Tonight would be a good night, or at least Jenna hoped so. She stepped away from the door and near the tables for a moment. Someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Excuse me?" said a voice and Jenna turned around. The Mask

Luke was standing there and had tapped on the girl's shoulder. He was looking for Jenna, obviously, and had already tapped on no less than seven girls' shoulders, all short and with black hair. This one seemed likely, she was the shortest Luke had come across thus far. But when the girl turned around, Luke knew he had found his girl. Jenna's bright blue eyes gave her away, or at least to him. "Hey Jen," he said in his calm voice. Little did she know what he carried in his pocket, her Valentine's present. If she said yes, the ring, with the pink diamond and engraving on the band, would be hers.

Darn it all, clearly wearing a mask wasn't quite all it was cracked up to be. But Jenna couldn't be too surprised. After all Luke knew her better than almost anyone else, so he was bound to recognize her. And Jenna knew him immediately from the sound of his voice, though his face was hidden behind a black mask.
"Hello Luke," she replied with a smile, glad to see him all the same. A new song came on, one that Jenna liked quite well. "Care to dance?" she asked her boyfriend as she took a step toward the dance floor.

Luke grinned at the thought of dancing with his girlfriend, Jenna. Sure it was a bit awkward, considering their massive height difference, but once they started, it was hard to stop. Dancing was fun. Luke recognized the song on as well, reading Jenna's mind to know that she like it too.
"I'd love to dance," he replied, taking her hand and leading her onto the floor, their bodies matching as perfect black and white. Luke began to lead the dance, bending down ever so slightly so that Jenna didn't feel quite so short. She was a little touchy on that subject.

As much as Luke tried, Jenna still felt embarrassingly short next to him, as she always did. She pushed the thought away, and focused on how pretty the music was, how their steps matched evenly, though he could take far longer strides than she could. They were both taking short steps, though, perfect steps.
Luke spun her and Jenna felt herself smiling. She was distantly aware that they were the only ones dancing, but it didn't matter. Jenna loved him, she really and truly loved him. And dancing with him was better than being in a dream. The song ended and another one started up. "Again?" Jenna asked with a wry smile.

Luke nodded and led her into a whole new song, which was fairly slow. They didn't have to be great dancers, they made all the magic by being together and loving each other. That was what Luke liked the best about Jenna, she could make any ordinary night magical.
He spun her again and they were both grinning ear to ear. The song ended after what seemed like a lifetime. "Let's take a walk," Luke suggested. "I've got a present for you." Now was the time, he would ask Jenna to marry him. They could be together forever.

Jenna nodded. She had a present for him too, though it wasn't very good. Just a book, with writings from ancient societies and pages that changed every time you read them. Jenna had thought it was pretty cool, but she was sure Luke's would be better. He was good at this sort of thing.
"Sure, let's go," she replied, holding his hand as he led her out into the garden. They started walking through, like so many times before. Except this time the moon was shining, the air seemed to glow with magic. "Here's yours," Jenna said, handing him the wrapped up book.

Luke took the present from Jenna and hastily unwrapped it, anxious to give her the ring. But when he saw the book he slowed down a bit. It was really amazing, with all the writings. "Thanks, Jen!" Luke exclaimed, giving her a gentle hug. "My turn, now."
Luke reached for the small box in his pocket, suddenly feeling nervous. What if she said no? But she had to say yes. They were in love; they were going to be together forever. It just seemed meant to be. He dropped down onto one knee and opened the box to reveal the ring. "Jenna Clearwater, will you marry me?" he asked with a nervous smile.

Jenna gasped upon seeing the ring. The words Luke spoke rang in her head like little wedding bells, telling her that this was real, though it felt a lot like her very best dream. "Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes!" she exclaimed, fidgeting around, but still grinning.
Jenna allowed Luke to slip the ring on her finger, then attacked him as soon as he stood. She wrapped her arms around him estatically, her short frame fitting into his torso. "I love you so much," she whispered as her hug tightened. This was the truth, Jenna couldn't imagine life without Luke.
