Azzurra blinked slowly, squinting in the light of the hospital wing. For a moment, she had no idea where she was, then she remembered the events that had unfolded at the Quidditch match. After scoring a goal for her House to put Hufflepuff in the lead, a bludger had connected with her head. Azzurra didn't remember a thing after that.
A wave of pain washed over her head, forcing Azzurra to close her eyes once more. After a moment the pain was reduced to a dull roar and she blinked her eyes open once more. For the moment, the room was empty. Not knowing how long she had been out, nor what she should do now, Azzurra turned her head slightly to be facing the door.
Another wave of pain shook her, but Azzurra was able to keep her eyes open this time. She then realized there was a bandage on her head. She moved her hand to touch it, but the effort seemed to great, so she let her arm fall back once more. Then a figure entered through the hospital wing doors. At first the person was blurry, but then Azzurra was able to make out who it was.

Zelphar came into the hospital wing, ever since Azzurra had gotten injured in the Quidditch match he had made a ritual of it. He would check on her during breakfast, go to his classes, and then come and do his homework beside her in hopes she might wake up while he was there. He smiled when he saw that she was awake this time, he had been getting worried. "Hey, you've joined the land of the living," Zelphar said, tone soft as he took up his customary seat beside her bed.

Azzurra mentally laughed and was able to bring a small smile to her face. "It's not so nice here," she said softly, wincing as she spoke. She had not expected speaking to be quite so painful. She figured she probably had a lot of spells numbing the pain, but they weren't entirely succeeding at the moment. Azzurra just hoped the injury wasn't too serious- she wanted to get back to her normal routine as soon as possible.

Zelphar smiled a bit, glad that Azzurra was at least attempting some kind of humour. He figured that she must be in pain, she had taken a pretty nasty hit. He had been scared by the accident, he didn't think that he would ever forget the feeling of ice cold dread that slipped into his stomach as he had watched it happen. The match had been a brutal one, two other players had gotten injured too. "It'll get better," said Zelphar, gently taking Azzurra's hand.

Azzurra decided against nodding, figuring it would just make her dizzy again. "I hope so," she said quietly instead, adjusting her hand in Zelphar's. Azzurra put on a brave face, seeing as Zelphar looked worried about her still. "What happened in the match?" Azzurra asked after a moment, hoping Zelphar would give her the full details. If all went well, Julie would have caught the snitch shortly after Azzurra was knocked out so that the Slytherin chasers wouldn't have time to gain a big lead. Azzurra just hoped her team had played well enough to win.

"I figured you'd ask," said Zelphar with a smile. He had not stayed the whole match, but had instead followed the staff that had taken Azzurra to the hospital wing, and then had paced outside in the hall in a frustrated manner the whole rest of the game because they wouldn't let him in. But he had heard the outcome of the match, as, after all, it was the first time Hufflepuff had won the Quidditch Cup in over a century. "It was a close match, 750 to 740, but your seeker won it for you," said Zelphar.

Azzurra's heart lightened at the news that her team had managed to pull off a victory even missing a player. That certainly said something about the quality of the team Hufflepuff had. Azzurra was proud of her squad. "That's great," Azzurra said with another little smile. "They cut it a little close, I guess, but Julie always pulls through."

"Yeah, you got yourself an excellent seeker this year," said Zelphar, only then noticing the feeling in the pit of his stomach about holding Azzurra's hand. He decided to ignore it, but he couldn't deny that his feeling for his longtime best friend were starting to change. Zelphar didn't know what to do, but he figured he would keep quiet about it for now. Azzurra needed to rest and heal, she didn't need anything complicated being thrown at her at that moment.

"Definitely," Azzurra replied, again feeling that words were better than a nod at this point. She was content knowing that Hufflepuff had won the Quidditch cup, it even seemed to slightly lessen that pain in her head. "What day is it?" Azzurra asked after a moment, realizing that the match could have been a couple of days ago now, depending on how long she had remained unconscious. Azzurra hoped it hadn't been too long though, she didn't like to think that she had worried Zelphar.

"Tuesday," said Zelphar, hardly able to believe that it had been almost a week- the match had been the previous Wednesday, "you really had me worried for a while, but I'm glad you're awake now." Zelphar gave her hand a gentle squeeze, smiling a bit. He had barely been able to focus on lessons- he was certain his marks for last week were going to be quite a bit below his average.

Azzurra's brain took a moment to wrap itself around the notion that it was Tuesday. The match had been on a Wednesday, which meant that she had been unconscious for nearly a week. No wonder Zelphar had looked so worried. "Wow," Azzurra said, slowly coming to the realization that she would have a lot of work to do in preparation for exams now.

"Yeah," said Zelphar with a weak smile, he was still worried about Azzurra, but she looked like she was going to be fine. It just might take a bit of recovery time- but he had been truly scared the span of that six days. For too many times in his sixteen years of life had Zelphar been confronted with the aspect of human mortality, and he didn't like it. "But you can't expect much else after taking a bludger to the head," Zelphar added.
((OOC: I would assume they're over, I'm going to change the month to June in a day or two. But hey, liquid time applies here.))
