Rumer carefully peered into the room, eyes scanning the area. Smiling satisfactorily to herself, she waltzed into the room, book and a pew pieces of parchment in her hand. A peacock feather quill was tucked behind her ear, and she was anticipating the moment the ink would hit the page and waft into her nose. It gave the Ravenclaw an odd thrill, especially because of her dyslexia. It wasn't bad, granted, but it still made reading and writing difficult. That was the reason why she wanted to be alone at that moment. She'd been coming and going through the Group Commons for quite sometime, calculating when it would be deserted at any given time.
Turned out that during breakfast, no one was there. So, Rumer had taken it upon herself to go downstairs at the crack of dawn, eat breakfast within the first ten minutes, then leave as quickly as she'd come. Rumer was ashamed of her dyslexia at times. Ravenclaws were supposed to be the smartest of the smart, but how could she ever compare to the great Rowana if she confused her letters and numbers? It was embarrassing, and Rumer hoped that practicing would help her overcome her condition. It was worth a shot, in her mind. Rumer was willing to do just about anything to be able to learn more efficiently.
Rumer sat down at the desk in the corner, the large wooden object swallowing up the tiny girl. Rumer laid out the parchment and the took the quill from behind her ear, placing it on top of the pages. Pushing those to the side, she tucked her hair behind her ears and opened up the book to the very first page. It was a book on simple Transfiguration, things that weren't difficult but things that they hadn't learned yet, nor did Rumer ever believe they'd learn in school. With that, Rumer began the very slow process of sorting out the proper letters and words, becoming engrossed in the art she needed to perfect.

Nat entered the group commons, her usual stack of books balanced with expertise in her small arms. The library had become crowded and overrun as of late, and she found it harder and harder to concentrate with others invading her sanctuary. She was left as a nomad. Without a home, it felt. She had wandered lost throughout the mighty castle all morning, her latest obsession of books stacked in her arms. Admittedly, this was perhaps the most intriguing of all her fads. Medicinal Herbology was something she couldn't get enough of.
Nat was relieved to find the group commons deserted at the time. She set the books carefully upon the floor, stretching her small arms before her gaze came across a blond girl in the corner. She seemed swallowed by whatever lay before her, a feeling Nat was well acquainted with. She smiled slightly, not wanting to disturb the girl.
"Is it okay if I read here?" She asked quietly. The few times Nat would ever dare address a stranger was in a situation where her sanctuary was threatened. She felt like some endangered species, forced into a foreign habitat, so vastly different from her own. However, knowing the feeling of intruders, Nat would never dream of intruding upon someone's' sanctuary. Especially not a fellow Ravenclaw.

Rumer hadn't noticed the girl enter, she was too engrossed in her reading. It wasn't until the girl asked if she could read before Rumer looked up. Her mouth formed a line, and she tried to get words out. Instead, she merely nodded. After all, the girl was a fellow Ravenclaw, it wasn't as if she was going to be loud. By the looks of the large books in her arms, she assumed she'd be quiet at the very least. Rumer mentally cursed herself for becoming distracted, having lost her place in the book. Trailing her finger down the page, she attempted to sort through the jumbled letters on the page.
Her temples throbbed at the workout her brain was getting, producing a small headache, but Rumer wasn't going to worry about it. She needed to practice her reading and writing, and she wanted nothing more than to beat her dyslexia. Hopefully, it was something that could actually be beaten... Rumer finally made sense of the words enough to see where she had left off, and she dove back into the book, almost completely forgetting the other Ravenclaw girl as she immersed herself once more.
