The scar that had kept Violet out of work for a few weeks was healing slowly, but with her most recent trip to St. Mungo's had come another surprise. Although ever since Jordan had persuaded her to think about having kids, it was a bit less of a surprise. But still, being pregnant was never entirely expected.

Violet had still yet to tell anyone yet. She had refused to hear the gender of the baby until Jordan was with her and hadn't a single clue as to the baby's name. So since she couldn't go to work after the news, she had decided to go home and wait for her husband.

That was how Violet had wound up napping on her bed, her shirt pulled up to her shoulders so the long slash mark down her back could get some air. She had intended to watch television for a while and then make dinner, but having had a rough time sleeping for the past week, she had quickly fallen asleep in front of the television. And it was there that she stayed until she was finally awoken. Violet groggily opened her eyes and smiled.

Jordan was worried and he didn't like the feeling one bit. Being an Auror was a dangerous job, he knew that and he'd accepted that, if anything happened to him then so be it, but Violet...when he'd found out she'd been hurt, words couldn't describe the intense fear that had coursed through him, every negative thought had raced through his head on the way to St Mungo's that night, he honestly didn't know what he'd do if she died...

Thankfully she was okay, it was a gash along the length of her back but it nailed home to both of them how dangerous their jobs where and how close they came every day to losing each other. He'd broached the subject of her leaving the Auror office, even mulled it over himself sometimes but they had yet to sit down and talk about it properly.

Arriving home after work, he noticed the house was dark except for a single light shining upstairs. Kicking off his boots, shrugging off his jacket he headed up the stairs and into their bedroom, a smile lighting up his rugged face when he saw her sleeping soundly on their bed. Though when his eyes drifted to that scar on her back he frowned. Now sitting on the edge of the bed beside her, he let his fingers ghost lightly over the soft skin beside the scar, not noticing when she woke up.

A few moments after Jordan came in, Violet was gently awoken by his fingers tracing the skin beside her scar. As she slowly turned her head, moving her long blonde hair, Violet saw who it was and smiled. She didn't move for a moment, just watching her husband in silence.

"Hey babe," she said after a little while, smiling again as she thought of the news she had to share with him. She knew that it would only make Jordan more terrified of her career, but Violet wasn't dwelling on that too much at the moment. They were going to have a baby. She was more excited than she ever would have thought.

Seeing Violet had woken up Jordan smiled and pulled his hand back, "Hey there pretty girl..." he replied, leaning down he kissed her sweetly, before pulling back, brushing a lock of her hair from her face. Violet looked extremely happy, there was a twinkle in her eyes he hadn't seen for a long time and he wondered what it was that had her feeling like this.

"Why do you look so happy?" he asked, turning to face her better, his hand taking hers. His thumb stroked the back of her hand skirting over her wedding finger as he waited for her to respond to his question.

Violet grinned after Jordan kissed her, feeling like she must be the luckiest person in the world. She turned so that she was resting on her side, facing her husband. Her shirt fell across her back once more, causing just a twinge of pain, but Violet hardly noticed.

"Mmm," Violet said softly, thinking of the best way to tell him. Then she decided that there really was no great way to tell her husband she was pregnant so it would be better if she just got on with it. At least he hadn't found her throwing up in the bathroom in the morning hours. "I'm happy because we're having a baby," she said and then laughed.

"I'm happy because we're having a baby,"

There was a pause as Violet laughed lightly, Jordan himself could do nothing but stare disbelievingly at his wife, unable to take in the news of what she was telling him. They were having a baby? She was pregnant...he couldn't believe it, he hadn't expected it...sure they'd spoken about having children but Violet had always told him the timing was simply not right.

"You're pregnant." he repeated softly, slowly starting to absorb the life changing information. Slowly a smile began to appear on his face, his aches and pains from work forgotten, right now he only had eyes for the woman in front of him, and ears for what she was telling him, laughing slightly he shook his head, "You're pregnant!" he repeated just that little bit louder, joy filling his eyes.

Violet watched, amused, at the disbelief on Jordan's face which then quickly turned to excitement. She knew how he had always wanted kids, which was strengthened by the deaths of his family, but she hadn't expected such a fabulous reaction. His excitement made Violet even more thrilled about the baby and her smile widened into a grin.

"Yup!" she said with another laugh. "The baby's due in January." Violet hoped that everything went smoothly in the pregnancy; she didn't want any scares along the way. There would of course be the morning sickness, but she figured she could handle that for the next month if it meant that things were going well with the baby.
