Nix smiled as gage spoke again before dipped her hand inside her robe pocket and taking out her wand and then looking the front door of the school over, she didn't see anyone but knew that they would have some protection there and so walked up slowly before spotting the care taker. She smiled and looked back to gage before nodding to his wand and then dropping her own behind her hand and then walking up to the doorway, the caretaker would spot her and gage could then slip inside the doors while he came over to talk to her

Gage nodded, and with a quick, nonverbal spell had faded seamlessly into his surroundings. Now the only thing he had to do was avoid walking into someone and avoid making too much noise and he would be as good as gold. He just hoped that Nix wouldn't get into too much trouble, though the caretaker was fairly lenient, at least when a large mess wasn't involved. Gage might have insisted that he perform a Disillusionment Charm on her as well, but it seemed that she had already been spotted, he should have thought to do it sooner. Crossing his fingers that Nix wouldn't be in too much trouble Gage slipped inside, flawlessly changing to match his new surroundings. He would wait for her there, it wasn't as if anyone would be able to see him standing directly in front of the Hufflepuff hourglass.

The old caretaker started over towards her and then his eyes seemed to widen as he worked out how it was as nix walked up towards him, he raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms and waited for a comment from her. "I've been down in town seeing my brother, it's maya's birthday next week so I had to bring her these from him" she said as she held up her bag of sweets and the caretaker broke in to a grin. "your lucky you have adoptive family down their Night, go in but don't go telling anyone your allowed in and out like this" he said with a chuckle as nix darted past him with a smile and she jumped up the front steps and started towards the stairs, hoping gage would find her or that he'd gotten in safe atleast

Gage beamed (though nobody would be able to see it) when he saw Nix enter the hall unaccompanied, meaning that the caretaker had let her off the hook. He probably wouldn't have been anywhere near that lenient with Gage, who had probably one of the worst reputations for getting into trouble in his entire year. He had a feeling the staff would take a collective sigh of relief the day he left. Gage walked soundlessly until he stood right beside Nix, unsure if she had heard him or not, though hadn't seemed to notice... "Nice going," Gage said quietly so only she would be able to hear him.

Nix heard the faint scuff of shoes and so slowed her walk right down before she heard gage's voice and chuckled to herself, "I'm in and out so much and they know that I have "family" in the town so no one rely cares anymore unless I'm blowing someone or something up" she said with another chuckle before she dipped a hand inside her bag and took out a sugar broom and then pulled off wrapper that said it was a shooting star before sticking the thin end in to her mouth and grinning as she tasted the sweet for the first time.

Gage made an odd expression, though he remembered that he was hidden in his surroundings and that Nix wouldn't be able to see it. "I would hope that you wouldn't be blowing up people," said Gage, taking care to keep his voice very quiet, should someone come along he didn't want to be caught. Thankfully the corridors were dark, however, Hogwarts always seemed to shift and whisper when the sun set. It wouldn't draw too much attention to himself. Though in thinking on it, Gage felt that he probably should have removed his shoes, though wasn't going to bother with it now, though instead timed his steps with Nix's, as not to make things seem off.

Nix gave a soft smile and she shook her head ,"never in purpose, only in potions when I mix too many things up in one caldron and then something really goes wrong and all hell breaks lose" she said with a chuckle before she paused at the bottom of the staircase to lift her hand and turned her sugar broom round in her mouth Sid eh could taste the other end of the new sweet

Gage chuckled softly, he was no stranger to that. Potions, while not terribly difficult, he did often misread instructions and add far too much of one ting, or not nearly enough of another. Until he had made a particular brew several times Gage near always ran the risk of causing some sort of minor explosion or noxious fumes. In his third year he had managed to melt his cauldron and all the way through his desk, as he was sure that Nix could remember. "Take a left here," said Gage, "don't want to get caught in our own traps." It was a roundabout way of getting back to the commons, but he would rather do that than struggle to remember which steps they had booby-trapped earlier.

Nix smiled as she turned away from the trick step that she knew awaited who ever walked up the steps above them and gave a chuckle ,"it's not that I dislike potions, it's more that it just plain hates me" she said with a laugh as she slid the broom in her mouth to bite through one end of it. She gave a little snigger at the idea of people getting stuck in her little trap but she shook her head and then looked up the steps to make sure she didn't get trapped in anything

"I know the feeling," Gage replied quietly, recalling the times when he had completely misread instructions. It happened a lot more frequently than he cared to admit, though recently he found that he was getting better at catching himself before he put a fistful of something in that required only a pinch. Gage continued to match his steps with Nix's, finding that it was growing easier as they progressed. They were making good time, and their chosen route was thankfully quite deserted- nary a prefect or professor in sight. He got into his own bag of sweets, taking out a chunk of peanut butter fudge. It was briefly visible before he stuffed it into his hidden mouth, savouring the richness and the wonderful taste that the people at Honeyduke's had seemingly perfected.

Nix gave a little chuckle as a small chunk of fudge appeared in the air and then disappeared and she smiles before lifting her head and looking around, she recognised the stairs they were on as the ones that lead up towards their common room. "you can flick that off if you want now, we're gryffindors, no one will really give us much notice if we are out late" she said as she nodded up towards the final flight of stairs they had left to go up to get to their common room

Gage swallowed his fudge, when he would sneak out he typically kept the charm on until he was safely in the Gryffindor commons- though the night seemed exceptionally quiet, he didn't see any problem with removing it prematurely. "Right you are," said Gage, pulling out his wand and tapping himself on the head with it while quietly muttering the counter-charm. Just as he had vanished earlier Gage re-appeared. He loved that charm, though somehow always found himself amazed by it. He supposed that he never would be entirely accustomed to magic since he had only found out about it six years ago when nearly all the students had grown up with it their whole lives.

Nix gave a little smile as gage appeared next to her and she nodded to him and then took her own wand from her pocket and then flicked it through her fingers and then balanced it on one of them and then paused as she looked up the stairs. She could see the outline of the picture that lead in to the common room and she broke in to a smile and then nodded up to the stairs ,"nearly there" she said with a chuckle before she tripped up a step and then shook her head at her own clumsiness
