Gage sat on a bench near the entrance of the park he had invited Emily to meet him at that day. Seeing as it was only June the weather was fantastic, perfect for walking around outside without getting too hot. He was planning that they might be able to spend the whole day together, walk through the park and then perhaps get something to eat or head to the cinema. Gage knew that Emily, a muggleborn like himself, loved going to see films as much as he did. He was excited to see her again, it had been a little while since their last date, but Gage felt the times they had gone out together had gone great. But this time he was hoping it would be different.
He wasn't planning on deliberately messing things up, but rather he wanted to kiss Emily. Gage had yet to do that, he had been going slow and steady with Emily, but he wanted to see if she was ready to advance beyond hugs and holding hands. Perhaps Gage would take her to see a film and make his move then, it would be dark and more private than just out in the open in the nice park in view of anyone who happened to look their way. Gage half-wondered why he had been going so slowly with Emily. He genuinely liked her, he didn't want to go too fast and risk messing something up or making her uncomfortable, that had to be it.
Gage stretched out his legs a little, customarily for him growing a bit antsy, he wasn't used to sitting still. Though at least it wasn't in class, that made things better on him. He had adapted to summer quickly, and hadn't taken the potion that helped with the symptoms of his dyslexia in two whole weeks. Perhaps taking a break with it would restore its potency when he returned to school. Gage smiled when he saw that pretty blonde walking his way, he had a feeling they would have a good time that day.

Emily was on cloud nine. Exams were a distant memory, it was summertime, she'd spent time with her wonderful family and now she was off to meet Gage, and she wasn't ashamed to say she had missed the other boy tremendously over the last couple weeks. The letters they had exchanged were no substitute for the real thing. As the heals on her shoes clicked against the pavement, she looked around, it was a wonderfully warm day which promised only good things.
As her summer dress swished around her knees, her hair bounced over her shoulders and her bag swung at her side Emily allowed her thoughts to drift to Gage. Since they're first date they'd been on a few more, but were taking it slow, they held hands, hugged but that was it, and if Emily was honest with herself she was eager to take things further, she trusted him completely and hoped that today they may share their first kiss.
As she approached the park she'd been told to meet him at she felt her mood lighten and her smile widen. There sat on the bench just across the road was Gage, and Emily felt her breath catch and her heart speed up. Sure he'd seen her, she gave him a small wave, before looking up and down the road and crossing, "Hey you..." she said softly as she walked up to him.

"Hello beautiful," said Gage, smiling and standing up as Emily approached him. It was good to see her again, it had been too long in his mind. He was just thankful that they didn't live too far apart. Granted, it was a bit of a commute, but nothing that took all day, and he had purposely picked a spot closer to where she lived so she wouldn't have to go as far as he did to get home. Of course, being seventeen he could apparate, and that made things much easier. Though the sensation capitalized on his claustrophobia, making him feel as if he were being pushed through a very tight tube.
Emily really did look very pretty to him that day, her hair loose and in a flowing dress. To Gage she looked like a classic, timeless beauty, blonde hair, soft features, nothing about her seemed harsh or out of place. "I thought you'd fancy a walk," said Gage, "before summer gets too miserable." Gage hooked his pinky finger with hers, an alternative to holding hands that wouldn't make their palms sweaty in the warm weather. He allowed Emily to set the pace for them, content with going however fast or slow she wanted.
"How are things treating you?" asked Gage, ready to get some conversation started. He would have to come up with something to say once the question was returned to him, however. Gage was enjoying his summer, but his parents' indifference had only gotten worse. He had known ever since he was young that his parents hadn't exactly wanted him, but they seemed to think him stupid, that he wouldn't notice how they didn't give a damn about all he had done in the previous school year or how he had helped Gryffindor to win the Quidditch cup. Granted, they were muggles and had no idea what Quidditch was, but to not care...

Emily felt a blush fill her cheeks at the compliment Gage gave to her as he greeted her, she could never quite get used to them. Smiling softly she looked at him once more, "A walk sounds perfect," she agreed, her smile widening a little as he linked their pinky fingers together and they began to walk, their shoulders bumping together ever so slightly as they did.
"Things are great, we just got back last night from a four night stay in Rome...Dad's treat..." she told him, the trip had been a surprise one from her Father for both her and her Mother. "Hows your summer treating you so far?" she asked, Gage didn't really talk about his home life which she found curious, but she didn't push, if he wanted to tell her he would when he was ready.

Gage smiled a bit when he noticed Emily blush, he found it endearing that his compliments still caught her off guard. Of course, he felt that she was entirely deserving of them. She was his girlfriend now, he liked to shower her with kind words and gifts when he had the money for them. For not the first time Gage pondered the idea of getting a part-time job, though every time had gone against it. His parents would usually give him money when he asked for it, if only to shut him up. He nodded when she said that she had been in Rome, that sounded exciting to him.
"All right," said Gage indifferently, "a bit boring, though it's nice to not have to think about homework." They walked a little while, a gentle breeze began playing at his hair. It was slightly cool, making for an even more comfortable day. He would be missing these kinds of days when July came with its relentless heat. "But how was Rome? What did you do?" asked Gage, he hadn't done anything interesting, he would much rather hear about what Emily had done in Rome than talk about what he had eaten for breakfast Tuesday.

Emily smiled at Gage, having to agree with the homework comment though she could tell he was not saying something, had his summer been that bad already, did he not go out with his family? Instead of asking she began to answer his question, wondering if he'd ever tell her about his own family. "It was amazing...magical even...there's so much history in Rome, the culture is incredible...4 days isn't long enough to truly explore so I'm hoping one day I can get back there, explore a little more..."
The trip had been wonderful, but it really hadn't been long enough to enjoy Rome. Maybe before she went into her Auror training she could take an extended trip, do a little more travelling around the world, see the sights. "You never think about going somewhere like that? Travelling, seeing the world?" she asked, curious to what his immediate plans where, since this was his last year in Hogwarts...though she hated to think on that.

Gage nodded along, it must have been nice to walk the streets of another place. London was a fascinating enough place, though he did want to go abroad sometime in the near future. His parents didn't ever go on holiday, the one he could recall he had been four or five and they had gone to Sweden, they had stayed in a cabin owned by his mother's friend. They had taken him skiing, but his childhood clumsiness had prevented him from going very far without falling down. Gage had been about to respond to that, tell her how wonderful it sounded, when Emily instead asked if he thought about traveling.
He took a quick glance around to make sure there weren't any muggles in earshot, and in seeing the only ones were a young family quite a ways off he assumed it would be safe to divulge his plans. "I was thinking of going out for professional Quidditch," said Gage, "travel is inevitable, but it would be like getting paid to see the world." Not to mention making money off one thing that he truly loved to do, that being playing Quidditch, and the one thing that Gage felt he was really, truly good at other than getting himself into trouble.

Emily looked at Gage as he divulged his plans for his future outside of Hogwarts and couldn't help but smile brightly. Really she should have guessed he would go for something like that, it was very fitting for him, Emily knew how much he loved the sport and she knew how talented he was when it came to playing, Lord knows Gryffindor had won many games thanks to him.
"I think that sounds perfect...exciting even, I've seen you play you'd be perfect for it." she said, her tone genuine and happy that he had plans. She herself although she loved the game, wasn't as dedicated to it as many people. "You'd be getting sent everywhere..." she said with a small chuckle.

Gage found himself grinning as Emily did, feeding off of her expressions. She was startlingly easy to relate to, as if he had known her forever, he found that quality was lacking in many of his previous relationships. The girls wouldn't talk to him the way that Emily had, they were harder to find common ground with. But not Emily, she was great. "Well thank you," said Gage with a smile, it felt good when people complimented him on his Quidditch skills, as he didn't really get complicated on much else- simply because he was too much trouble for most people he supposed.
"I don't think that I'd mind terribly," said Gage, noticing he was getting ahead of Emily a bit and slowing down so she wouldn't have to speed up to keep up with him. The idea of going someplace different every week to go and play Quidditch, it just seemed almost too glamourous to be true, but he knew that people did do that. Gage was still going to go for it, if anyone could get a spot in the professionals it would be him. "Though I bet it would be better if I might be able to talk someone into coming along from time to time," said Gage, smiling a little bit.

"I'm sure someone could be persuaded if that's what you wanted." she chuckled, brushing her hair back, winking at him before laughing lightly. Emily loved how relaxed and light being around Gage made her feel, she couldn't help but smile whenever she was with him, "Although chances are you'll be so busy with training and fighting off all your fans, you may not have time for someone. whose still going to be busy with school" she said teasingly.
The thought made her cringe ever so slightly, she hated that she'd still be in school when he graduated. Though she wasn't going to worry, as much as she liked Gage, and she really truly did she didn't want to think on the time when they would no longer be in school together. "However I am planning on doing some travelling before going in for my Auror training so....you may get lucky." she said with a smile.

Gage beamed, glad to be seeing the more lighthearted side of Emily. He had a feeling that not very many people got to see her like that, she took her school very seriously, whereas he just sort of shrugged most of it off and typically scraped by by the skin of his teeth. There had been many a time where Gage had been in jeopardy of losing his spot on the Quidditch team because of grades, though he had managed to pull them back up enough to never actually be kicked off. He listened as Emily spoke, still smiling slightly.
"I'll make time," said Gage confidently, he knew it wouldn't leave him a ton of downtime, but it was what he wanted. Though Emily did have a point that he hadn't really thought on- she was a whole year behind him and would still be in school when he would (hopefully) be beginning his career in professional Quidditch. They would make do someway he was sure. "I'll look forward to it," said Gage, smiling once more.

"You better." Emily said, looking at him with a smile for a moment before she turned away, her eyes scanning the area around them. There was a group of guys across the way from them, playing football and she smiled,if she was honest she was a hell of a lot of better at the muggle sport then her Father.
"Lets get some ice cream." she said, her hand resting on his arm, when she turned to him upon spotting the ice cream van parked up beside the field as well. She was looking forward to all the time they'd be spending together today, and she couldn't help but hope once more that they'd finally take that next step in their new relationship. There'd be a time later when she was sure they'd share their first kiss, and she couldn't wait, there was no nervousness, she trusted Gage with all her heart.

[bockquote]"No worries," said Gage, smiling again, he was planning full well on finding some way to see Emily hopefully once a week. He didn't know what the schedule would look like, but he imagined that there would be one day a week where he didn't have to do anything. He looked over at the group of boys playing football, remembering how much he would do so with the boys his age in the neighbourhood he grew up in. Gage had always been an athletic person, always into sports. Quidditch had been a good outlet for him, and to that day still was.
His eyes flickered over to the truck as Emily suggested that they get ice cream, it sounded like a good idea to him, and he had stashed away a tidy sum for whatever they would be doing. Gage was gentlemanly in that way, he liked to be able to pay for dates, it made him feel that he was taking care of them. "Sure," said Gage, leading the way to the truck, but then stepping to the side so Emily could decide what she wanted first. [/blockquote]

Emily smiled at Gage as she ordered a chocolate ice cream, honestly there was nothing better in her opinion. Part of her knew she should probably feel guilty for ordering chocolate but another part of her couldn't care less, she concluded there was nothing wrong with indulgance for one day. As she waited for Gage to order she alloed her eyes to drift upwards, the weather was getting increasingly warm, not that she was complaining at all.
"Oooh the theatre here is having a horror fest later on if your interested?" she asked, she made no secret of her love of horror, plus she'd be with Gage, that just made the idea of sitting in the cinema all the more appealing. As she held onto his hand her thumb traced a pattern over the skin there, "So what do you say? I'll even let you hold my hand when things get to scary for you." she teased.

Gage opted for some sort of peanut butter and chocolate concoction before paying the man and locking his pinky finger with Emily's once more. He licked the ice cream slowly at first, though wouldn't be so shy when it started to melt, the flavour itself was fairly good. But truth be told Gage would much rather indulge his sweet tooth on candy rather than ice cream. He smiled when Emily suggested that they go to the cinema later, he had been thinking about saying that himself- it sounded to him like a good idea for a date. And in knowing that Emily was muggleborn like himself, Gage knew she would appreciate it.
"Well, with my girl there to protect me I think I'll be okay," Gage said lightheartedly, he never minded being teased lightly once in a while. Already the day seemed to be going perfectly, and with plans to head to the cinema later... Gage had already decided that was when he was going to kiss Emily. With any luck the film would be of the cheesier horror variety, so that way they wouldn't be missing much of anything if they got involved with each other.
