Abigail was growing impatient, she was bored, aching in places she never believed she could hurt. In reality she wanted to punch the next person who told her she was glowing, right now she felt anything but. Add to that she was growing increasingly frustrated with Ransom and, well you can imagine the type of mood she was in. Pacing through the Croft mansion, she blew out a frustrated breath and began making her way down the stairs.
It had been little over a month since she'd moved into the estate and it still did not feel like home. Perhaps it was to big...or maybe it was simply because Ransom was barely ever here, and whenever he was, his mind seemed to be somewhere else. Abgail wasn't happy, if she was honest with herself she felt like she was in the way. Like really he didn't want her here, or even want her at all, he didn't touch her in ways she wanted him, they didn't go out together, he didn't say he loved her...really he didn't hug her. If anything Abigail was the one to initiate contact between them and it was making her getting her down. She wanted the romance, the intimacy, or was she only here because she was carrying his baby...was the baby the only reason he wanted her around?
As she reached the bottom stair, Abigail let out a tired sigh, and instead of continuing on to the kitchen she lowered herself onto the step and sat down. Her legs and back were aching, and even though she was hungry, she just couldn't will herself to move anymore. When one of the house elves appeared in front of her, a worried look on it's little face, she smiled softly and waved him off, letting her shoulders slump and her head fall forward into her hands when he disappeared. "Why am I even here?" she whispered to herself, as her elbows came to rest on her knees she heard the front door open, and looked up, not standing as he walked in, "Hi..."

Ransom rubbed his temples as he paced up to the door of his home, he had been given more assignments than ever as part of his being a Death Eater, and lately a few of them were beginning to bother him. Earlier that day he had been ordered to rape the fourteen-year-old daughter of an Auror who refused to talk in spite of the grizzly torture they had inflicted on him. He normally wouldn't have been bothered by it, but now that there was Abigail who would be having his baby... It seemed off to him. Men that were going to be fathers didn't do that kind of thing.
They do if they're Death Eaters, Ransom mentally reminded himself as he dragged a hand down his face, rendering it expressionless, and then let himself in. He smiled just as always when he saw Abigail sitting on the stairs, her belly was protruding even more now- an ever-present reminder of the little girl that was there. "Hello darling," said Ransom, though was a little uncertain of what he should do. Lately he had been giving Abigail her space, figuring that she would want it, even if they were living together now.
Ransom in a split second, however, decided that he would greet his girlfriend with a gentle kiss on her forehead. He would keep conversation simple, feeling the need to almost tiptoe around her as not to make her angry. It probably didn't take much, what with the pregnancy hormones. He then crouched slightly to be eye-level with Abigail, placing a hand on her stomach lightly. "Hello little one," said he before drawing his hand away and looking back up at his girlfriend once more.

The tender kiss surprised Abigail somewhat, the hand on her stomach did not. Ransom spent a lot of time obviously marvelling at it, like her, amazed that there was a little life growing inside, one they'd both created. As she looked up at him she smiled ever so slightly, for a moment she'd completely forgotten that there was something bothering her, Ransom often had this effect on her. In a weird way as well, as well as making her happy, his presence saddened her, she guessed it was because she knew, deep down, there was something he was hiding from her, some part of who he was she wasn't allowed to see.
Biting down on her lip she let out a small breath, her eyes locking with Ransom's, as she lifted her hand skimming her fingers over the top of his forehead, brushing a side a small lock of his hair tenderly, "You were out all night...I was getting worried..." she said, he'd been gone all night, all day today, she was curious to know what he'd been doing, but she knew he wouldn't tell her, he never did. Abigail trusted him, she knew he wasn't cheating on her...or had he?
Shaking her head, she shot a small smile at him and stood up, the move taking some effort. Brushing down her clothes she made her way into the kitchen, her delicate hand rubbing the lower part of her back as she did. Luckily she'd had a feeling he'd been home and made an extra plate for dinner, she'd long since had hers, but as always she was craving more, a major diet was in order after the baby was born she figured. "Get yourself sat down, I've made you some dinner." she said to him softly as she turned to look at him from the counter.

Ransom smiled, Abigail always seemed to have a calming effect on him, though in the back of his mind he still heard the cries of the girl. She hadn't screamed once, but had sobbed in a way that had made even his hardened heart sting. He still wasn't sure why it was bothering him so much- a few months ago he wouldn't have given it a second thought. Maybe it was because the girl had been so young, too young for that. Or perhaps it was because she hadn't really done anything, other than being related to someone who wouldn't give up the information Jezebel wanted. Ransom might not have been the most morally sound person, but he didn't believe in punishing the innocent.
"I'm a big boy," said Ransom, lightly caressing Abigail's cheek- but only for a second before drawing his hand away again, "no need to worry about me." He figured at some point, likely in the near future, he would need to start coming up with excuses- she could never know the real reason behind where he went off to every day. Abigail had covered for him once, it was more than Ransom could do to ask again. At any rate, with this matter he also had Jezebel to answer to- she likely wouldn't take kindly to him telling even one person what he really was.
Ransom only hoped that Abigail knew he wouldn't think of cheating on her- he hadn't so much as looked at another woman since they officially became an item. Above all things he was determined to be a good father for their little girl- and good fathers didn't sneak around behind mothers' backs with other women. Ransom sat down at Abigail's request, smiling again when she said that she had made him supper.
