Violet sighed, blowing a loose strand of hair out of her face as she sat at her desk. She had been handling paperwork for hours that day and really wanted nothing more than a break. Ever since she had found out that she was pregnant, she hadn't been allowed out of the office on actual assignments. Violet supposed it was for her own good, but she did miss the action a little bit. She supposed Jordan liked it, though. It kept her out of harm's way. Not to mention the baby.
She rubbed her growing belly absently. She and Jordan has decided to name their son Devon Samuel. Violet was very much looking forward to his birth, now less than two months away. Already feeling huge, Violet could only imagine how much bigger she would get as she got closer to delivering. It was amazing to think about the little child inside of her at that moment. Violet had been reading up on her baby books and figured that Devon was just under 3 pounds. Tiny, but growing every day. She hoped he would be a fighter like his father. He had already kicked her a bit.
Violet glanced over at the stack of paper still sitting on her desk. With another sigh, she decided that it was time for a bit of a break. There were still carrots in the break room and she had been craving them all morning. Pushing herself up, Violet maneuvered her belly around her desk and waddled a bit to the door. She glanced into the office adjacent to hers to see one of the interns hurriedly writing notes. "Care to take a break with me?" Violet asked, though she didn't know the girl very well. In fact, Violet barely knew the interns at all, considering she wasn't of high enough rank yet to train any of them. But with her pregnancy, it had basically been her and the three interns at the office for the past few weeks, ever since Abigail had gone on maternity leave. At least today there was one other full auror there: Daniels.
"Erm, sure," the girl said, after looking up from the work to see Violet. The brunette hopped up with ease to join Violet at the door. Her pace slowed considerably as she and Violet began down the hallway a bit further. They entered the break room and Violet immediately went to the fridge, grabbing the plate of carrots and pulling it out. She stood against the wall to eat them, not wanting to try to sit at the moment. She engaged in pleasant conversation with the intern until one of the other interns came in. Then Violet just let the two of them talk. They obviously had a lot more in common with each other than she did with them.
The twenty year-old was just thinking that she really had to pee when Daniels walked into the break office, flanked by his intern and followed by four very official looking people. Violet immediately straightened, but the two interns remained sitting. "These are guests from the Department of Magical Law in Romania," Daniels informed them. Violet smiled and nodded, moving forward to shake the first one's hand. Two of the others moved behind her, presumably to shake the hands of the interns.
"Pleasure to meet you," Violet said. It was then that she heard a muffled gasp from behind her, followed by a scream. Alarmed, she turned to see the two interns, gutted with knives by the department's guests. She reached for her wand as Daniels' intern hit the floor as well. But she felt the knife slip all too easily between her ribs. For a moment, all was incredibly silent. She saw the man's face quite clearly. His light brown hair and dark olive eyes, which watched her as she slipped quite slowly to the floor, her hair spreading out around her. Violet reached for her side in a panic, but blood was already coming through her lungs instead of air. As she sputtered her last breaths, she saw Daniels fall to the floor beside her. All were dead. The war had begun.

Elliot ran a hand through her hair as she walked beside two fellow Aurors, they had been out on a mission, but the damned criminal had gotten away. They had been so close, only to have him slip away from their fingertips- not for the first time, but for the second. Missions like these were the most frustrating, their target wasn't a fighter, he was a runner and hider, and quite adept at it, too. "Looks like we're back at square one," commented the auror to her left, Jacobson. Her other coworker nodded glumly. "Unfortunately," Elliot sighed in defeat. And that was when they heard the scream.
Just the sound of it made her blood run cold, it wasn't a sound people normally made, it was sheer, utter terror. Elliot looked quickly to the fellow aurors on either side of her before the three of them broke into a sprint toward the source of the noise, wands drawn. They approached the scene, four men had attacked four of their staff- there was so much blood everywhere... The firefight began instantly, their three against their four. Nothing could have prepared Elliot for this, they were supposed to be safe here...
Her heart practically stopped when she saw Violet on the floor, no, anyone but her... She was pregnant for the love of God, had these killers not an ounce of mercy? Elliot signaled to her colleagues to cover her, and she quickly darted to her fallen coworker's side. Her eyes were glazed over, she didn't move, she was dead. She quickly performed a spell to check on the child and her heart skipped a beat yet again- they were too late, the baby was gone too. She felt tears pricking at her eyes, though she forced them away, there was no time to grieve.
Elliot sprang out of the way when a curse was sent at her and quickly retaliated. They were outnumbered three to four, and the intruders were better duelists than what she had thought. But Elliot was determined to bring these heartless killers to justice, no, justice had gone out the window. She wanted to see them dead. It had never been a desire of hers before, but now she was filled with such raw rage, such primal fury... Elliot's eyes glinted dangerously as she dodged, deflected and sent any nasty curse she could think of.
Noises of sheer rage were coming from her mouth that she didn't even know she was capable of making. But one thing was for sure, they were going to need help, being outnumbered like this they could only hold out for so long...
