Benjamin rummaged through the pocket of his cloak while his son John stood by his knee, looking up expectantly. His hand emerged from the depths with a fistful of knuts, and he could see the way John's eyes lit up with glee. The three-year-old had seemed quite expected to throw coins into the fountain, bless his soul it seemed to be the highlight of the day. Benjamin smiled as his son began to plunk the coins one by one into the babbling fountain. "Fank uh, Dad-dee!" John called over his shoulder. Benjamin chuckled, of late the boy's accent seemed a little off, it seemed to be somewhere between his mother's and his own Scottish one.
Granted, it wasn't an astronomical difference, though it was something his dialect-sensitive ear could easily pick up on. "Good boy using your manners so nicely," said Benjamin, seating himself on the ledge of the fountain. "Mummy says it's 'portant to be poh-lite!" John responded, dropping another bronze coin into the water. "Aye, Mummy would be right about that," said Benjamin, thoughts drifting to his very pregnant wife and a smile gracing his lips. He had left her in the house alone, still asleep. Benjamin had placed a note on his pillow where she would see it when she woke- saying he had taken John out for the day, and asking if she might want to join them if she was feeling up to it.
Really, the presence of his wife was what was keeping the late morning from feeling completely perfect. The weather was agreeable, the air was still a little chilly, but the sun was warm. And to boot it wasn't a Hogsmeade weekend at the school, meaning the streets wouldn't be clogged with students. Benjamin kept close to his son, though looked over when he heard the sound of footsteps on the cobblestone only to see...

Waking up alone had been a bit of a surprise but Katherine had soon understood why, and why the house was so quiet when she'd read the note Benjamin had laid out on his pillow for her. As much as she was thankful for her beloved husband letting her lay in, a day out with her family sounded to perfect for her to pass up. So after a slight struggle she'd finally managed to shuffle her way out of bed and into the shower. Now late into her 8th month of her second pregnancy, Katherine was finding it a little struggle to get around but still did remarkably well running around after a hyperactive 3 year old boy, running the house, making sure dinner was on the table for Benjamin when he returned home as well as doing everything else she needed to do.
So after dressing, grabbing a small bite to eat and shrugging on a cardigan Katherine headed out. It wasn't too cold, hence why she'd only opted for the cardigan, these days her body temperature got too hot if she covered herself in too much. The trip to Hogsmeade Square was a quick and somewhat pleasent one and the site that greeted her upon reaching her destination was a welcome one.
"There my guys are..." she said softly, smiling at Benjamin as her Husband turned, obviously having heard her steps approaching. Her hands went to John's shoulders as she leaned down to press a kiss on the top of his head, "Hi Mummy...try one?" John asked, holding a knut up to her, standing on his tiptoes. Laughing softly, Katherine crouched down beside her son, took the knut from him, and dropped the bronze into the fountain.
Sneaking a hand into her own pocket she pulled out a couple more and handed them to John, pressing a kiss onto his cheek before using the fountain ledge as leverage to pull herself back up, before moving over to Benjamin. "Hey you..." she said softly, moving to sit beside him, leaning to press a kiss to his lips her hands moved to cradle her baby bump, "It's always strange seeing this place so quiet..." she commented, her eyes drifting to look around the street.

Benjamin smiled at the sight of his wife and the rounded belly holding their second child that proceeded her. He hadn't really known how much he liked kids until their son had been born, now he couldn't imagine life without the energetic, talkative three-year-old- and he was quite excited to have another. Benjamin wasn't sure if a large family was what he wanted, mainly due to his lack of experience. Katherine had four siblings of course, though he only had his younger sister, Keely. At the thought of her Benjamin made a quick mental note to send her an owl, he recalled he birthday was coming up in the first half of April.
Really, he and his sister weren't incredibly close, they got along fine, though they didn't see much of each other anymore. Benjamin supposed that was just the way things went, though Katherine seemed very close to all her siblings. Maybe it was just a guy thing, or the fact that he and Keely had next to nothing in common other than having the same parents. Perhaps that was why they didn't spend all that much time together anymore. Benjamin still felt, however, he would be quick to get after anyone that hurt her. The protective big brother feelings never truly went away.
"Hello love," Benjamin said, greeting his wife and gladly accepting the kiss that she gave him. Benjamin saw no shame in being affectionate with his wife in public, in fact he rather liked it- as if he had something to prove. Yes, his marriage was going quite fantastically, and no you did not need to ask, you could see it. "A good kind of strange, though," said Benjamin, "makes it a quieter day for us anyway." He lovingly rested a hand on his wife's belly, unbelievably excited to meet his second child. But he could wait until the baby was ready.
((OOC: Just a thought, do you want Katherine and Prudence to meet? They're due around the same time so perhaps they could bond over that...? Up to you, though.))

"Definitley a good kind of strange." Katherine agreed with a smile and a nod of her head, leaning into him slightly as she looked over to John, happy to see he was still pleasently occupied. She rested her hand over Benjamins as he laid it lovingly over her stomach, they were both incredibly eager to meet the newest member of their family, Katherine was actually counting down the days she had left and prayed that at least the baby would come when he was due.
"A quiet day sounds perfect..." she trailed off and shifted uncomfortably as a small shooting pain shot across the bottom of her stomach. Moving her hand from Benjamins she shifted it lower to the spot she'd felt the pain and rubbed over it soothingly. Looking at Benjamin she smiled reassuringly not wanting him to worry if he'd in fact noticed. She herself knew it was nothing to worry about, so stayed relaxed. Reaching back she began rubbing a small soothing circle onto her lower back.
The baby wasn't due for a couple more weeks, and she knew her body was just getting itself ready. "So where we going for lunch?" she asked, reaching out to tug John back slightly as he leaned to far forward into the fountain. Her son pouted slightly, sighed dramatically then proceeded to throw knuts into the water. Rolling her eyes Katherine looked at Benjamin and smiled, "Last time I checked three year olds weren't supposed to have attitude problems..." she whispered to her husband in amusement, shaking her head as she laughed lightly, her son had been growing increasingly independant as of late.
((OOC: Sure thing, sounds good I'm up for anything.))

Benjamin didn't know what it was about having children, but it seemed more magical than anything he had experienced in his life- as if he and Katherine were the only people in the world capable of producing children. Which of course was very far from the truth, though it didn't lessen that feeling any. He could feel a little foot beneath his hand, though no kicking, he assumed their little one was asleep- likely lulled by the motion of Katherine's walking. When John was a baby Benjamin had quickly learned that babies liked rhythmic movements- rocking, bouncing, swaying and the like.
"Doesn't it?" said Benjamin, "seems things have been a little chaotic." Now was one of the busiest times of terms, it was his third year teaching though he had still yet to become accustomed to the whirlwind that was the second half of the last semester. There were exams, not only the all-important OWL and NEWT, but standard tests for all the other years as well. Add to that the annual fourth-year career counseling and all the other duties that came along with teaching, it made it a very active period. Hence why Benjamin relished his early morning run so much, it was his time to be alone and clear his mind.
An expression of worry showed clearly on his visage as he saw the pain register in Katherine's eyes, though thankfully it vanished almost as soon as it had come. Though Benjamin had gone through this once already he still got a little nervous about these things. Understandably so, though all the same he felt he was too quick to worry. "Wherever you'd like," said Benjamin, chuckling sightly when Katherine pulled John back and he reacted quite melodramatically. "Ah, he's just spirited is all," Benjamin replied, smiling.
