Roselyn was beyond worried and frustrated with her husband as of right now. On the one hand she could understand the stress of his job, lately her own had been stressful with the recent attack on the school and all the other attacks, though it was no where as near as bad as his, she knew this, but still, what he was doing was cruel. Not towards her no, she could accept the way he was with her, but the children? The girls missed their Father and she was sick of telling them he was working late, only to have him not even come home, meaning they couldn't even look forward to seeing him at the breakfast table. To add to matters he was drinking some more too, Roselyn knew her husband better than he thought.
Sighing softly she shook her head as she paced her office, doing what she could to try and ignore the incessant pounding. Owen was slipping away from her, he had been for a couple years now but lately it had felt worse, like, she could really lose him. The mere thought that could happen didn't sit right with her, it hurt more than she dared to admit. What had she done so wrong that would drive him to pull away from her? They hadn't shared any kind of physical intimacy for the longest time, sure he was there sometimes and he spoiled her and the girls rotten, but Roselyn never got what she truly wanted which was him and she had to wonder why...
Did she repulse him in someway. Sure she was getting older but, surely he was still attracted to her. Then again maybe not, maybe it was some vain naive hope inside of her that kept her hoping she'd always be enough for him, always be beautiful in his eyes. Shaking her head Roselyn marched with purpose towards her Husbands office, determined to get some answers and work out why he hadn't bothered coming home again last night. At least she hoped he was in his office, if he wasn't then...
Roselyn shuddered at the thought and headed upstairs, waving off his assistant before knocking on the large door twice, not waiting for an answer before she headed inside and closed it behind her. Taking a breath to look around the office, her eyes finding...

Owen sighed heavily, throwing down his quill in frustration and backing away from his desk. He crossed the room to the liquor cabinet, having needed to lean heavily on his vice of late. There was just so much work, he had never anticipated that when he had taken office a decade ago that things would get this bad, that there would be such evil yet again. He had thought that when Voldemort fell, there wouldn't be any of this to deal with again. Owen snatched up a glass and gave himself a generous portion of gin. It was all that he had left, his assistant in attempting to be "helpful" was no longer restocking it.
Owen was more than annoyed with that, how the hell else was he supposed to keep his calm? He was working eighteen to twenty hour days, stealing only a few hours sleep between so he could get right back to working. He likely hadn't been home in a week, he was honestly beginning to lose track of the date, it didn't matter much anymore, anyways. The paperwork kept accumulating, it was all he could do to merely prevent it from flooding his office, it had no conceivable beginning or end. Just sheer mass of all that he needed to tend to.
And on top of the paperwork, there were the meetings, foreign ministers, heads of all the departments, and other important people whose titles were beginning to blur together. Or perhaps it was only the fact that he was on his fourth gin of that evening, sixth if one were to count the two glasses he had had earlier in the day. Chugging back half the glass, Owen shuffled back to his desk and picked up his quill once more, beginning to write fervently, as if he might be able to free himself from the office if he worked at a furious pace.
He faintly growled as there came a knock on the door, and before he could snap that he did not want to be disturbed the door had opened, not revealing his assistant or someone rude who hadn't learned office etiquette, but his wife. Hastily stowing his glass out of view behind a tall stack of papers, he smiled, the exhaustion apparent on his face. "Hello, darling," said he, laying down his quill to go and greet her with a peck on the cheek. Roselyn could likely smell the gin on his breath, but there wasn't much he could do about that.

Roselyn's eyes landed on her husband and instantly the exhaustion there on his face was apparent. More so when he gave her a smile, it didn't even touch his eyes, hadn't for a while now and she felt her heart give a painful jolt. As he stood and began to make his way over to greet her she stepped forward, away from the door and smiled slightly, though like his own it didn't touch her eyes at all. "I apologize for interrupting but I wanted to see how you were, you haven't been home all week..." she commented as he leaned into lightly peck her cheek. The smell of gin was more than obvious and she sighed softly, quietly as she pulled back from him.
Her eyes drifted to the stack of paperwork on his desk and she frowned, surprised at how much there was there for him to do. Didn't he have an assistant to help him out with some of this? Sighing softly she reached out to begin fixing the collar of his shirt, straightening his tie in the process, knowing she'd come here to talk to him but feeling the all too familiar need to take care of him. As his wife it was something she couldn't help, even if there was an insane amount of distance between them right now it wouldn't stop her from trying to be there, "You're working too hard..." she said softly, her tone holding a tinge of worry in it, if he was not only drinking but drinking in the office as well then he was stressed. "Anything I can do to help?" she asked, smoothing out his shirt before letting her hands go to clasp in front of her.

"You're a welcome distraction, love," said Owen, even when slightly inebriated he didn't miss the soft, darn near inaudible sigh that passed his wife's lips. He knew that she didn't like it when he drank, though at that point Owen was beginning to believe that it was the only thing keeping him sane- or otherwise preventing him from going on a rampage. There were some people that might turn savage when drunk, but Owen wasn't one of those people, he was simply better able to relax. "And I know," he sighed, pulling a hand through his hair, "things get more ghastly out there every day, and the worse they are the more I'm stuck with."
This wasn't anything new, perhaps maybe this extreme was, but before the peace of their world had given way to utter chaos there had still been stretches of time where he had been unable to get home. Owen placed his hands on Roselyn's hips as she adjusted his shirt collar and tie, making them lie smoothly, as the day's events had knocked them askew. "Not hard enough, I'm afraid," Owen sighed. Times like these made him want a fellow minister, rather than an increasingly incompetent assistant. He smiled lightly when she offered help, though there really wasn't much of anything that she could do. "I wish there was," said Owen.

"You're a welcome distraction, love,"
Roselyn found herself smiling softly as he said this, for a moment allowing herself to pretend things were really okay between them. Smoothing out the creases in his shirt were simply her way of looking after him, as much as he would allow her to of course. She felt her heart ache for him, things were getting worse outside and she knew all to well how it could affect things in here. Of course she didn't have the same amount of pressure as her husband but she had a fair amount, but unlike him she had an assistant who was more than competent at her job, which made Roselyns a thousand times easier. "I know sweetheart.." she said softly, her hand lightly resting against his cheek before moving to rest against his chest.
Owen's hands were on her hips, and it was a welcomed touch, one she missed. Though now was not the time to mourn the changes between them, no, she was here to be a good wife. No matter what she'd always strive to be just that for him. "You're working incredibly hard...and maybe here is something I could do..." she said softly, smiling lightly, "Maybe it's time to rethink your assistants position here...they're obviously not helping you in the way you need...and if you want you can have Amanda for a few days till we find you someone new, someone who can actually do their job, all this extra stress on you isn't good and we miss you back home..." she said, smiling lightly as she finished up, "So what do you think? I know Amanda would be more than happy to help, what do you say? Let me help you..."

Owen felt something odd in the pit of his stomach, was it guilt? He wasn't sure. No, he hadn't been entirely faithful, there was a young thing that he had never learned the name of who had practically brought him to his knees. He hadn't loved the nameless beauty, he loved his wife, that thing had been lust. Hadn't it? But she had done things for him that Roselyn hadn't in years, shown him excitement. Though the calming effect of his multiple helpings of gin was keeping those thoughts small and quiet, nowhere near the forefront of his mind. Maybe he really was working too hard.
Owen ran one of his hands up and down Roselyn's side gently, he had missed her, but he was unable to tear himself away from his work, not when a nation needed him so badly. It wasn't just the magical people he needed to look out for at this point, but the muggles as well. He was actually well overdue for a meeting with the muggle Minister... Owen smiled a bit as his wife offered volunteering her assistant to him, to alleviate the stress on him so he could look for a new assistant. "If you're sure she won't mind," said Owen. It was uncharacteristic of him to accept any kind of help, but he knew that it would make his wife happy, and in turn it might make things a little better on him.

Roselyn's smile widened considerably when Owen didn't shoot her idea down like she had expected but instead turned around and agreed to it. The smile on his face was strained, the exhaustion more obvious but hopefully with the help of her assistant, and once they found him someone better, he'd begin to feel a hell of a lot better. "Of course she won't mind...in fact you'll be doing me a little bit of a favor, I may actually get to do some work...girl seems to enjoy overtime more than most I know.' she said, leaning in to press a light kiss against his cheek. "I'll inform her about what's happening when I go back, how would you like to handle your own assistant?" she asked, more than willing to fire them herself.
"And I can screen for new assistants if you want...find you someone who can actually do their job." she said softly, smiling, not wanting to push him but wanting to relieve any extra stress that screening for new assistants would cause him. No she wanted to take care of him as much as she could and if this was how to do it then she was only too happy to do so, chances are she may be able to get him home at some point. "I'm being pushy and interfering again aren't I?" she asked pulling a face, chuckling lightly before leaning in to press a light kiss to his lips. "I'm sorry, I just want to help."

The odd feeling of guilt disappeared when Roselyn smiled, she had always had a way of lighting up a room with just the gesture. It had been what had captivated him all those years ago when they were in school and she hadn't given him the time of day. It might have sounded a bit cliché, but it had been worth waiting for to get her. Owen smiled a bit, it was nice to hear of young people with a strong work ethic, it seemed so many of them liked to slack off. "Well, I could use the, ah, enthusiasm," said Owen. He chuckled lightly when she mentioned his current assistant and how she should be dealt with.
"I'll dismiss her tomorrow, love," said Owen, "and it's not beyond my means to hire an assistant, I ought to interview them myself." He chuckled lightly as she went on to say she was going off an interfering again before she kissed him. Owen kissed back almost hungrily, the gesture ending far too soon for his liking. "I know you do my dear," said Owen, lightly resting his forehead against hers. He really did need to go back to work, though a part of him was protesting that he had worked fourteen hours that day, and deserved a good long break.

Roselyn beamed and nodded her head, "Well I'll talk to her and she can start with you tomorrow." she said, relieved he hadn't shot her down. Instead he'd accepted her help and she knew Amanda would greatly appreciate the experience to work with the Minister of Magic, it would be a boost in the young girls career. Sure Owen had accepted her help in regards to offering up her assistant but it seemed he wanted to conduct the interviews himself. Which when she thought about it, made a tonne of sense, he did after all need to get a feel as to whether or not the person attending the interview would be a good fit for the office, and working with him.
Her lips tingled from the kiss and her fingers lightly moved over his chest as he rested his forehead to hers. Part of her knew she should allow him to get back to work but she was reluctant to leave, they hadn't spoken like she'd wanted but with the stress he was under the last thing she wanted was to put him under any more, it could all wait she guessed. Smiling softly she leaned in and kissed him again, her hands snaking over his shoulders, "Anything else I can help you with?" she asked, a hint of suggestion in her tone as she pulled back to look at him a little better. Smiling softly she leaned in to kiss him again, her body pressing against his own, it had been far too long since she'd been with her husband and now wasn't the best time she knew it but she did want him and after all he needed a break...

"Very well, I'll deal with the unhelpful one before the night is out," said Owen, appreciating the closeness. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy intimacy with his wife, and it wasn't that she was unskilled at it, it was just... Well, he didn't exactly know what "it" was. Poor impulse control? An insatiable appetite for women? A near-constant state of intoxication? It might perhaps even be a combination of the three. Though his past unfaithfulness was nowhere near the forefront of his mind, not now that his wife was in his arms and he wanted her. And if there was an adjective to describe him, it was determined.
The work be damned, it would still be there after they had had their fun. It really had been a bit too long for his liking, and he was sure it was too long for Roselyn's standards as well... Owen smirked lightly at her next words and the manner in which she said them. Again he kissed back hungrily, he wanted her, that much was obvious. He pulled away after a moment, hovering tantalizingly over her lips. "I can think of a few things," Owen muttered, tilting his head a bit so he could kiss her neck, hands sliding up her back, searching for the zipper.
