Gage exhaled heavily, plopping down on the couch, it had been a long day of training, the captain had insisted on putting them through their rounds at least eight times, when normal practices consisted of three or four. Not that Gage was complaining, though he was tired and a little sore. He shamelessly propped his feet on the coffee table, using his toes to pry off his shoes and letting them trail dirt on the glass surface of the table. He'd surprisingly gotten a lot cleaner and more organized since getting his own place, but he couldn't be bothered with the trivial mess at the moment.
He twisted off the cap of his beer, taking a long swig of it before sighing contentedly. Grabbing up to remote, Gage flicked on the television, though he didn't really watch it, but rather stared blankly at the screen while petting his dog. The time until his and Emily's wedding was ever-steadily winding down, and funnily enough Gage didn't find himself nervous at all, even as he and Emily went through the finer details. He was content to let her pick what she wanted as long as it was simple, as they were going to direct the bulk of expenses to their honeymoon.
Gage had already taken care of the arrangements, splitting their time equally between Jamaica, Mexico, and Hawaii, as they'd been unable to choose just one place. Really, the date of their wedding was getting very close, Gage only had one match left between then and now, needless to say he was looking forward to the break. Sighing lightly, Gage rotated his shoulder, ever since the fracture/dislocation combo it had never been quite the same, always a bit stiff, prone to being sore. Though he really couldn't find much to complain about, life was good for the time being.
Blinking out of his absent thought when he heard the sound of the door opening, Gage knitted his eyebrows together a moment. He'd given Emily a key, and she was the only one that knew how to disable his enchantments... "Didn't know you were coming over, Em," Gage called, though didn't get up from the couch as he was tired, and his muscles were aching, crying out for a break.

The wedding was drawing nearer and Emily couldn't be happier or more excited. Finally, after what felt like an eternity but in reality had only been a year, she was done with school and set to marry the man she loved. They were set to start their new life together, free of school, though she would admit, the thought of life after school was pretty scary, she still had yet to decide on her profession and it was worrying her quite a bit. Never once in her life had she been so indecisive, it set her on edge...usually she was a pretty organized girl, obsessively so sometimes. On the plus side, she'd graduated from school with some of the highest marks around so she was pretty much set whatever she wanted to do.
Little did any one else know though she was hiding something, a pretty big something in some circles. Just before graduating she had received a letter from St Mungo's....with offers of a position at the hospital. A training one of course but it was a high honor to be called upon by the hospital to go work for them, she hadn't even applied for the internship. Still unsure though Emily had spoken to them and gotten herself another month before she had to give them an answer. Her original plan was to talk to her parents, but at the moment she found that a little too impossible, so of course her other option was Gage. So with the letter in her bag she left home and decided to head to Gage's apartment.
The heat was unforgiving almost, of course she enjoyed the sun but even Emily was rushing to get back in doors where it'd be much cooler. Well there was that and the fact that even so long after her attack in Hogsmeade and the attack on the school, she still didn't feel too safe on the street. So to save time she apparated directly to Gage's and made quick work of taking down his enchantments. Using the key he'd given her she opened the door, put up the enchantments and stepped inside, locking the door behind her. "What can I say babe I missed you..." she teased, slipping off her shoes and slipping them into her bag, placing it up away from where Alice couldn't get it.
Stepping over to Gage she smiled, leaning over the back of the sofa to place a kiss on his cheek before her eyes caught on the muck. "How was training?" she asked, waving her wand to remove the mud and clean his shoes. Stroking the dog she smiled then looked down at Gage, running her fingers through his hair, "Your all dirty..." she chuckled, pulling a face before rounding the sofa and sitting close to him.

Gage smiled a bit as Emily came in, settling herself on the couch beside him, and he leaned in to the kiss that she placed on his cheek. Now that she had graduated from school they had a lot more time to spend with each other, even if training remained as intensive as ever. At least given the heat the captain had had the sense to switch from morning and midday training to evening ones. Of course, it had taken the entire team nearly succumbing to heat exhaustion, damn near heatstroke, and one of their chasers passing out to initiate it, but at least it had happened. It might still be uncomfortably hot at night, but they no longer had an intense sun beating down on them.
Gage usually did enjoy summers, but this one was brutal, he could hardly stand it, and was now beginning to wish that it would rain. He'd take a muddy practice if it meant that it wasn't so hot out. Gage took a long sip of his beer, he subconsciously knew that alcohol wasn't the best option if he wanted to cool down, but there was something soothing about the ice cold ale going down his throat. "Intense," sighed Gage after swallowing, "the captain's a psychopath, I'm telling you."
Gage was as dedicated to his training as the next professional, but the team's captain took it to a new extreme. Though it probably did amount to something, because out of the entire season- which had concluded in the end of June, they'd had an outstanding twenty victories versus eight losses, and had placed fourth in the European Finals. The captain, however, seemed determined to get them in the running for the World Cup next year, and while the idea was tantalizing, Gage felt as if he were being punished to get there.
"Oh, yeah," said Gage, running a hand through his hair, "I'll get cleaned up soon, I just needed to sit a spell first." Perhaps if he were lucky enough, he might be able to talk Emily into joining him with a shower or bath... Tired as he was, Gage didn't know if he'd ever be too worn for that. He was still a teenage boy, after all. "What have you been up to?" asked Gage, taking another sip of his beer. He knew that Emily had yet to choose a career, he was a bit curious if she had decided, but figured she could take all the time she wanted- he made enough to support them.
