Samara hadn't known what to do when she'd gone into labor. She'd knew that she was due that day, but that had been the last thing on her mind. With the groceries that needed to be put away and the house that needed to be swept one last time before her son arrived, she hadn't been expecting to be rocked with the most intense physical pain she'd ever felt. The bag of apples she'd had in her hand had gone tumbling out onto the linoleum, the contractions nearly knocking her off of her feet. Biting her lip, she didn't know what to do. Blake had been at work, and she couldn't possibly drive, let alone Apparate, in her current state.
It had taking the screaming in pain as more contractions ripped through her body to alert her neighbor, a middle-aged woman who herself lived with her four children, all of whom were at Hogwarts. Samara allowed the woman to get her to St. Mungo's. Doctors and nurses rushed to her side as she was rushed forward into a room. Everything was white and she could barely see a foot in front of her. She was stripped from her maternity wear and quickly put into a dressing gown reserved for patients. Samara, now in the care of professionals, hastily mumbled to her neighbor to alert Blake. The woman hesitated, then rushed from the room.
Now, fear gripped Samara. The time that she had feared was finally here. It was time to bring her son into the world, a world that was dark and cruel and terrifying. Gripping the sheets, Samara squeezed her eyes tight, allowing herself to listen to the coaching she was being given. She longed for Blake, she longed for her mother and father, but mostly? She longed for Silas. He would have made such a great uncle...
Crying pierced the air. Samara opened her eyes long enough to see the doctor hold up her newborn son, severing the umbilical cord. All doubts washed from her mind. That was her son. Dark world or not, the love she felt for him was unconditional, and she knew then and there that she would protect him, no matter the costs. As he was being taken away, however, Samara's peace was broken as more contractions ripped through her body.
"We've got another one! Miss, did you know you were going to have twins?" the doctor asked. Samara clenched her jaw, shaking her head... this was going to hurt.
- some time later-
Samara was holding her two bundles of joy, Silas Ronald and Gregory John. Both small babies were wrapped in soft blue and green blankets, respectively. She looked down at her sons, smiling softly, unsure of why she'd been so afraid before. Those feelings of dread and fear seemed to be a lifetime away, back from the child that she had once been. It didn't matter anymore. Samara was a mother now, and to hell with anyone who tried to hurt her babies in this dark, terrible place.
